Sagres is located on the south-west of the Algarve. The sea-carved cliffs make for some stunning scenery in this relaxed area. Historically, it was believed that Sagres was the gathering place of the Gods.
Sagres has some beautiful sandy beaches here, with some excellent areas for surfing. There is plenty of cultures here too, notably Fortaleza de Sagres, a fortress which guarded the city, the Cape Saint Vincent Lighthouse as well as various museums. There are some wonderful cafes and bars to enjoy which will cap a relaxing holiday beautifully in Sagres.
The Algarve region of Portugal is the sunniest, driest, and warmest part of the country, although it is rarely unpleasantly hot. Sea temperatures here are also warm. The region has a typical Mediterranean climate. Winters are mild, and have higher rainfall, although this is still very low - the maximum is 70mm in the month of Jan, June - Aug have the lowest rainfall with just 1mm per month!
