Paradise Hotel Corfu

My wife, 22yr old daughter and I, have just returned after two weeks, 9th to 23rd October 2013, the weather has been superb with temps of 72 to 82 degrees. The Paradise Hotel itself is well maintained, excellent reception, pool and bar area. The food at the restaurant attached to the hotel is excellent and the 20% off is a nice touch. The Greek night was outstanding and thoroughly enjoyed. The food at the snack area is also of a very good standard and value for money. The apartments are cleaned daily(ish), but every couple of days the towels are changed and two bedding changes during the two weeks, which could have been a little more. The pools are well maintained but are ice station zebra and could well be used for endurance testing but refreshing when it was hot. The room we had was a little tired (113) but overall very good. The staff especially Francis are excellent (she is a star!!), although one or two could smile more but I suppose it has been a long season. Be aware it is Mozzie heaven in Corfu, normally I do not get bitten but even I was open to attack, seven bites on first night and that was even with repellent on. Now for Sidari, first of all the people are friendly, warm, open and superb. A big shout out to the staff at Calypso restaurant and Cargo bar, they are great. The food at Calypso and staff would be hard pressed to beaten in any good standard restaurant. Cargo's had nightly entertainment which was excellent, saw the gang at the airport yesterday as they all were heading home to. Also a big thank you to Arron and Richard from Thomas Cook, when my wife was injured on our first night the next day they stepped up and helped out and we had not even travelled with Thomas Cook on this occasion, so thank you. Canal d'amor is superb as is Sunset Beach, Kassiopi, Palio are all superb as is the view at Bella Vista. That brings me to the downside of Sidari and other parts of Corfu, it needs investment on the basics, such as roadways, paths and lightning. On the first night my wife dislocated her ankle this was due to the poor pathways the edge of kerb and rain gulley are painted yellow, which gives an optical illusion that when stepped in has an angle that then causes trips, the same night a lad broke his ankle and we were aware of three other incidents. Sidari has the potential to become a family orientated location and not the next Kavos and could easily be achieved, but will need the local people and government to achieve this but cannot see it happening. If they made the main strip just for pedestrians this would be a big start with trees, lightning and benches. Would we go back - Paradise Hotel - YES Sidari - yes - if they do some work on the infra-structure

how anyone could rate this hotel as good,i just do not get it,just home from the worst holiday I have ever been on..the rooms were dirty and not equipped for self catering.the place was stinking of sewerage and over run with flies,the jet 2 rep just did not want to know.would not return if it was free.

Spent a week here, the rooms had no coffe/tea facilities and desperately need updating, bathroom looked grimy & shower curtains is a no no! Situated on steep hill, not good for pushchairs or elderly! Food was very basic no fresh fruit. No evening entertainment except for one night, so basically it’s dinner and bed, no music around bar area, unless u want to go out and tackle the hill. Pool area was immaculate & staff friendly. Would I return? Definitely not.
