Located in the far northern reaches of Australia’s Queensland region, Cairns has become a popular hub for tourists thanks to its tropical climate and proximity to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World — the Great Barrier Reef. Due to its tropical climate, Cairns like much of the north has both a wet season and a dry season. The summer months from December to February offer temperatures that can reach highs of 30°C, as a result you may experience higher levels of rainfall and the occasional storms. Winter, autumn and spring see temperatures of around 20°C, with a far-lower chance of rainfall.
