Our stay at Baron Palace Sahl Hasheesh this August was nothing short of absolute perfection. From the moment we stepped into the breathtaking, palatial lobby, we knew we were in for a luxury experience. The Resort & Amenities. The property itself is a true oasis of elegance. Our room was immaculately clean, spacious, and featured a stunning partial sea view where we enjoyed our morning coffee. The resort grounds are vast, impeccably maintained, and feature multiple gorgeous swimming pools—including an adults-only pool that provided the ultimate peaceful retreat. Dining was a major highlight of our trip. We tried several of the à la carte restaurants (the Mexican and Italian ones were standouts), and the main buffet offered an incredible variety of fresh, high-quality dishes every single day. The service throughout the resort is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling intrusive. Exploring Beyond the Resort: Our Excursion Experience. While it was tempting never to leave the comfort of the hotel, we wanted to see more of Egypt. We decided to book our trips outside the resort through a local company called Sheriff Egypt, which we easily found by searching their name online. Choosing them was the best decision we made! Their prices were significantly lower than what our hotel tour representative was charging, and the level of service exceeded all our expectations. Private Tours to Cairo and Luxor: We booked private custom tours for both Cairo and Luxor, and they were phenomenal. We had our own dedicated private guide who was exceptionally knowledgeable and spoke fluent, brilliant English, making the history of the ancient sites come alive. Traveling in a brand-new, air-conditioned 2026-model microbus made the long drives extremely comfortable and luxurious. Orange Bay / Giftun Island (Utopia / Mahmya / Giftun... wait, Hula Hula Island!): We also took a boat trip to Hula Hula Island. The yacht was brand-new, modern, and very well-equipped. The marine crew and guides were fantastic, professional, and also spoke great English, ensuring we had a safe, fun, and relaxing day snorkeling in the Red Sea. If you are heading to Baron Palace, treat yourself to the ultimate luxury stay at the hotel, but definitely book your adventures with Sheriff Egypt for a personalized, affordable, and top-tier experience. We are already dreaming of coming back!
The satirical Baron will always leave you holding the short end of the stick. Let’s start with the room. Buy a Deluxe, and you get a standard room with more floor space — and yes, a view of a construction site, complete with the full set: one excavator with a bucket plus one ordinary tractor. Who’s the fool here? Our Baron is simply being slightly ironic. Wonderful cuisine? Of course! A swarm of waiters, fresh white tablecloths — the linen really is gorgeous; cotton in Egypt is apparently cheaper than service — exquisite lighting, beautiful presentation. Yesterday’s hot dish today among the appetisers? As a side dish to the pasta? Sliced food wilted and curled at the edges, reaching towards the sun? Well, joke! It’s a joke! What is what, where and how else — only the Baron knows. You were promised Premium? Another joke from the Baron. It’s 44°C outside, and you are turned away at the restaurant door and told that men must wear long trousers? Joke! You made a reservation, and nobody warned you? A family celebration, booked before arrival? You want to celebrate your child’s achievement and give them a special gift? You flew relatives in from Europe? You even wrote to the hotel before your arrival? Well, joke! You simply failed to read the fine print. And, by the way, so did your tour operator. We ruined your celebration? Well, then, buy a room with a nice view! And trousers! Fine, the trousers are on the house! The celebration is tonight! What? You don’t want to double the price of your holiday?! Well, why did you come here, then? Now that is no longer funny. What, you don’t appreciate the beautiful view enough? Or the forthcoming closeness of your rooms? Almost next to each other. Same floor. Same building. Even the same corridor! At opposite ends of THE VERY SAME corridor! There is a smell of rotten water on your floor? You can hardly breathe? Joke! We’ll spray some air freshener. Can you feel how the delicate notes of air freshener elegantly complement the aroma of sewage? Joke! Want to understand why there are constantly closed doors appearing in front of you? Oh! You’re asking about these doors? And those ones? Well, buy a more expensive room. Or pay extra for some special status, membership, club — whatever it is we happen to be selling today. And — joke! — the doors will open. You’ll have a good laugh. But jokes aside, this hotel really does have a great many virtues. It is beautifully designed. You can see that money, taste and genuine love of detail went into it. Beautiful spaces, light, music, grounds. Charming, and in places genuinely brilliant, design solutions that stir a delicate tremor in the soul and make the silver strings of it vibrate. And oh yes! This matters to me — the linen is excellent. Housekeeping is very good. There are staff members who genuinely do an excellent job. An excellent beach bar! The beach itself is absolutely magnificent. Sunsets. Quiet zones. Nobody forgot anything. It’s just that, for some reason, here no guest need seems to be satisfied unless there is an additional charge attached to it. So, in response to your advance request to be accommodated near your daughter, your rooms end up in completely opposite buildings, on different floors. Laugh. It’s a Joke! You are told that the à la carte restaurant is waiting for you for your family dinner. You discover the trousers requirement at the door. Laugh — it’s so funny! You were told in response to your pre-arrival message that yoga mats are plentiful throughout the hotel and there is no need to bring your own? Well, you get the idea. Joke! Bakshish, of course! Part of the culture, as ancient as Egypt itself. Only not as gratitude for a service already provided. As a down payment on the hope that the service will actually be provided. But that may be an unfair interpretation. Isn’t it funny? And the strangest thing of all: I am actually staying at this hotel right now. This is not somebody else’s review, nor some horror story assembled from things I found online. This is my own experience of staying here, right now. So, whenever the Baron comes up with new jokes, I will certainly add them to this review. So you can have a laugh too. Baron-style. And yes, it really is beautiful here. The hotel is designed to look premium. It’s just that somewhere behind the curtain sits an ironic Baron, entertaining you: “You can’t go in here.” “This one is only available for an additional charge.” “We did promise you this, but you misunderstood.” “You’re missing the trousers here.” “You’re missing the status there.” “And here you need to make one more purchase.” And all of it against an impeccable backdrop. With live music playing in the lobby. And you will probably understand the main trick of Baron Palace: it is not the absence of luxury, but an extraordinarily convincing imitation of it — right up until you actually start using the hotel as a guest. You arrive, and a charming Baron is waiting behind the curtain. To entertain you. In his own way. I will attach non-funny photographs. Mine. Taken with love. Because I genuinely love Egypt and the Red Sea. I just don’t understand all of the Baron’s jokes. I asked them to sign an Act confirming that we were refused entry to the restaurant. What a peculiar woman! Who on earth would sign that?
