Lying on the eastern coast of the Sinai Peninsula, Dahab is an old and famous destination on the Gulf of Aqaba for diving and windsurfing. The Blue Hole and Three Pools are among the most exciting and spectacular diving spots on the Red Sea. The centre of Dahab is approximately 5 km from the family-friendly beach hotel and other nearby places of interest include Sharm El Sheikh (85 km away), the Coloured Canyon (120 km away), Saint Catherine Monastery (135 km away), Ras Mohamed (130 km away) and Abu Galom (35 km away).
The Hotel stretches over an 18,000 m² coral beach with the colourful mountains of Sinai as the backdrop. Offering an array of unsurpassed facilities and a tranquil atmosphere, the resort captivates the senses with the stunning beauty and natural splendour of the area. Built in 2009, the air-conditioned spa complex offers 218 rooms in total and welcomes guests in a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out services, currency exchange facilities and a newspaper stand. Further facilities include a children's playground and kids' club (both for a fee), a bar, disco and restaurant. Guests may also take advantage of the conference facilities, WLAN Internet access (fees apply), room and laundry services, and a car park.
The hotel provides spacious sea view rooms (34 m²), fully equipped with split-unit individually regulated air conditioning and heating, a double or king-size bed, an en suite bathroom with shower cabin and hairdryer, and a private balcony or terrace. Other in-room amenities include a TV, telephone, safe, minibar, ironing set, tea and coffee making facilities.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Hotel is approximately 1hr 20 from Sharm airport in private transfer. The complex is on the side of a hill, pretty isolated. There are 7 levels of which the massive main pool is located, with a bar and snack bar, towels, this is also where the entertainment team are during the day. There is also access to the beach where there is a jetty into sea for snorkeling and swimming, great viewing of fish, also a beach bar. Six levels of accommodation on level six there are suites with a smaller quieter pool, but no bar or towels. Staff are all very helpful and friendly. One main restaurant offering buffets for all meals, food is varied and pretty good, especially if you enjoy something different...this is not Spain!. We stayed in a two roomed suite on level 6, some of the furnishings are tired but well maintained, our cleaner came every day with fresh towels and made some amazing sculptures!!.All rooms have sea views. Main bar is near to the lobby area, slightly disappointed with selection of alcoholic beverages. Bar man couldn't know how to make cocktails!!! and some bizarre rules, you can have wine all night in the restaurant, but if you goto the bar you havetopay for it!!.I would like to say thank to two members of staff, the dining room manager who's name escapes me, tallish chap with bald head (Sorry) and Khaled Mohamed another manager, both helped us out and offered great customer service. There are two free shuttle runs into Dahab daily, which comes alive at night, shop keepers a little pushy, but up for a haggle!!..We went on a camel ride organised by the hotel trip organiser, this seemed a bit amateurish on arrival to our ride led by two small boys, but the experience was good and relatively cheap. Entertainment at night was rather hit and miss. If you do visit here, snorkeling gear is a must, the red sea is amazing, clear and warm. Disappointed with the amount of empty plastic bottles along the shore line, worse than the UK!!..The heat in Mid August was very intense, our suite had air con. We also used the spar, lovely treatments and massage, would highly recommend if you stay here. Some rules are very bizarre, you can't take a glass away from the bar area, yet there were kids skating up and down the area on overboards and wheelies!! To get you from the highest level down to the beach and back there is a shuttle bus running all day. I would recommend a stay especially if you want to relax as it's a laid back location especially the top pool. The only negative thing I would say is that some of the guests were extremely rude and didn't know the meaning of a queue!, and some acted like pigs around the main pool on a few days with young children leaving food all over the pool side. See pics. We had a great time and would go back, but unfortunately the world is a big place!!..Thank you Ecotel staff for a lovely holiday.
I liked the character, the food, the poolside activities, and the evening shows—everything was perfect.
Amazing experience. Great service throughout with very friendly and polite hotel staff. Exciting stuff to do every single day, from morning to late evening provided a brilliant entertainment team.
We had an amazing time, it was an unexpected surprise, honestly it was wa more than our expectations, since we came from Finland so we had a high expectation of cleaning and hygiene, truly wonderful and amazing experience, the animation team was great, very friendly and absolutely doing their best to make everyone happy and they did everything possible for us all. Thanks for everything guys.
We had a peaceful stay at Ecotel Dahab. The views of the mountains and Red Sea are spectacular. The resort is clean, rooms are spacious, and the staff are friendly. The private beach has a great coral reef for snorkeling.
Keep in mind that the hotel is 8–10 km outside Dahab center, so you need taxis or the hotel shuttle to go to town. Also, the property has many stairs between rooms and the beach. Food was decent with a good variety.
