Steigenberger Alcazar is Steigenberger's latest venue in Nabq less than ten-minutes from Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport. This impressive five -star resort enjoys 3,000 sqm of its own private beach with stunning underwater scenery at your fingertips. Nabq is an area of fascinating, almost stark beauty with contrasts between high mountains, deep valleys and the soft, velvet-like sands fringing the warm and wonderful Red Sea. Steigenberger Alcazar offers 584 guest rooms that were designed to create a total holiday experience that is second to none. Superior Rooms and Deluxe Family Rooms stand just off the beach while Villas and Junior Suites accommodate larger groups.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We’re only five days into our stay, but everything has been so good that I felt compelled to write a review already. I’ll update this at the end of our holiday, but so far, we honestly couldn’t be happier.
We’re staying in one of the basic rooms (Room 2222), and it’s absolutely outstanding. There really is no need to upgrade your room. It’s spacious, modern, beautifully maintained and kept absolutely immaculate. Everything you could need is there, and the standard of the room has genuinely exceeded our expectations.
The food is on another level! We stay all-inclusive every year, and without a doubt, this is the best food we’ve ever experienced at an all-inclusive resort. There are three of us in the family, and we all completely agree. The hardest decision of the day is deciding where to eat next! 😂 Every restaurant we’ve tried has been so good that we’re already thinking about how we can fit in another visit to them all before we leave.
And don’t come here thinking you’re going to lose weight! 😂 There are plenty of healthy options, but with so much amazing food and choice, it’s definitely going to take some serious willpower!
The gym is also excellent, with a really good range of equipment, and, like everything else, it’s kept spotlessly clean. It’s clear that the hotel takes a lot of pride in its facilities.
But, for us, the best part of the whole experience has been the staff. Every member of staff we’ve encountered has been friendly, welcoming and incredibly hardworking. What really stands out is that they genuinely seem to want you to have a great holiday. Nothing ever feels like too much trouble, and that makes such a difference.
It’s still early days, but so far this is a fantastic hotel, and we’re already seriously considering booking again for next year. If the rest of the holiday is as good as the first five days, I’ll have absolutely no hesitation in giving this place a glowing recommendation!
Service was excellent. Everyone was very welcoming. The head chefs came to us personally at every restaurant that we went to inside the hotel.
It is calm, safe and clean But a bit boring I hope they could add more activities for couples around the pool and Evaporative Air Cooler when it is too hot
It is genuinely disappointing to be writing this review, particularly as this is our fourth visit to this resort. We kept returning because our previous experiences had been so positive. Sadly, this time it feels like a very different resort, and at this stage, it is difficult to imagine us coming back again.
The problems started from check-in. We were initially given the wrong room and, after eventually being moved to the correct one, we were still left waiting for an additional key because only one had been provided. Not exactly the welcome you expect from a resort of this level.
What concerns me most, however, is that this does not feel like one isolated issue. The overall standard of service appears to have dropped considerably.
This is particularly noticeable in the restaurants. The waiters simply do not seem to have the same level of training, attentiveness or professionalism that we experienced on our previous visits. Service feels less polished and much less proactive. The quality of hospitality was once one of the reasons we kept returning, so the difference is very noticeable.
Unfortunately, the children’s evening entertainment is another major disappointment. The Mini Disco used to be something our daughter genuinely looked forward to. This time, the standard of the entertainment and interaction with the children has been, frankly, appalling. There seems to be very little energy, engagement or genuine effort to create a fun atmosphere for the children. For a family resort, this is particularly disappointing.
There have also been some surprising changes to what is included. We were told that the minibar is now essentially limited to snacks, despite it being replenished as part of the experience during our previous stays. We were also surprised to discover that Teppanyaki now comes at an additional charge. Individually these may sound like small changes, but together they make the All Inclusive offering feel considerably less generous than it once did.
The frustrating part is that we know how good this resort can be. We have experienced it ourselves on three previous visits. That is precisely why the decline is so obvious to us.
At the moment, I unfortunately cannot recommend this resort anymore. Unless things improve significantly during the remainder of our stay, our fourth visit will sadly also be our last.
We are still here, and I genuinely hope the management takes the opportunity to turn the experience around.
For complete transparency, I will update this review during and at the end of our stay to reflect whether the situation improves and how management responds to the concerns raised.
We have just returned from our 4th visit to Steigenberger Alcazar and another amazing week! We cant thank Aya and the whole team enough for making our stay so memorable. There is nothing the team wont do to make your stay more memorable.
You guys continue to make improvements both in facilities and customer service and we look forward to our bookings in October and then April to see them again
There are too many names to thank but please pass on our sincere thanks to the nice guy that cleaned 3117 so brilliantly and Bulis in the Main Bar
