Hotel Review: Aqua Mirage Marrakech

Let me give you an honest review of Aqua Mirage Marrakech because, honestly, this hotel is a real mix of good and bad 😂. If you’re thinking of booking, hopefully this gives you a realistic idea of what to expect.

First impressions weren’t amazing. On arrival, the lobby was absolutely packed and we were offered warm water, which wasn’t exactly what you want after travelling 😩. Early check in wasn’t available, so I decided to head to the market, grab something to eat and come back later. You can book a shuttle to the market through the hotel, but I needed to go straight away, so there was no point waiting for the shuttle. It cost me around 150 dirhams each way in a taxi.

When we eventually got our room, it was okay 👍🏾. I’m not going to pretend the hotel is brand new because it definitely has a dated feel, especially Block 1. But I’m realistic and can work with that. It’s a holiday hotel, not a luxury five star, so I’m just giving an honest review.

The main restaurant is CHAOS 😂. It gets so busy that it genuinely feels like a stampede at certain times. If you want a calmer breakfast and actually want to find a table, I would recommend getting there before 8.30am. Finding a plate can also feel like a mission. You sometimes have to search around for one! 🍽️

Dinner is exactly the same. I’ll upload some footage of the main dinner stampede because honestly, you need to see it to believe it 😂😂. The place gets absolutely packed and finding a table can be a struggle.

That being said, the food is actually nice, and one of my favourite things has been the BBQ outside at lunchtime. That was definitely a highlight.

Housekeeping deserve a mention because they work HARD. 🫶🏾 Our room was cleaned every day and they kept on top of things despite how busy the hotel is.

The Kids Club is good. My 6 year old went for about an hour a day and said it was okay. But honestly, she has absolutely LOVED the pools and Aqua Park. 😂❤️ Children see things completely differently to adults. While I’m noticing all the things that aren’t perfect, she’s having the time of her life!

The main pool gets extremely busy. There are so many people in the water, but for the kids, that’s exactly what they want. The Aqua Park is also very busy. Getting hold of the donut floats for the slides can be difficult because people hold onto them for dear life 😂. There’s definitely not much sharing going on!

And yes, the bees are REAL! 🐝😂 I can confirm that wasn’t an exaggeration. But I do think a lot of it comes down to people leaving drinks, food and rubbish around instead of putting them in the bins. The bees then obviously come swarming around.

There are also a few things in our room that need attention. We’re on the first floor and the balcony light doesn’t work, the door is quite difficult to close, and the hairdryer is basically useless because it gets too hot and switches itself off.

Another thing to mention is the internet. The WiFi in the hotel isn’t the greatest either, so uploading photos and videos can be a mission. 📱😂

Overall, I would say this hotel is overpacked and understaffed, especially during the school summer holidays. The staff are working hard, but there simply seem to be too many people for the facilities.

Would I come back?

Probably not.

And that’s not because I’ve had a terrible holiday. I haven’t. My daughter is having an AMAZING time and that’s what matters most. ❤️

I’m just quite fussy about my hotels and what I expect from a holiday. I stayed at Sungo Club last year and absolutely loved it, but that was a newer hotel and it wasn’t dealing with the same level of summer holiday crowds.

So, if you’re coming here with children, especially young children, they will probably LOVE it. If you’re an adult looking for peace, space, easy access to food and a more relaxed hotel experience, you might struggle 😂.

My advice is to come with realistic expectations, get breakfast early, be prepared for crowds, and most importantly, let the kids enjoy themselves! ❤️🇲🇦

What a week!! Absolutely amazing. We booked as a family of 6 in 2 rooms. Without asking, they had allocated out rooms only a few doors down from eachother. The rooms were very clean and cleaned daily with fresh towels. Air con was great. The facilities are incredible. They had constant entertainment all day at the main pool with in pool activities like pool basketball, aqua aerobics, water polo, and more. The entertainer would gather anybody for activities in other parts such as football on their on site football pitch. They had music playing during the day round the main pool and nobody seemed to be fighting over sunbeds. The waterpark was incredible and had something for all ages. The most amazing area dedicated to younger kids. Id say under which 10. A wave pool and older kids/ adult slides round the other side. Again plenty of sunbeds with their own bar which served lunch during lunch times 12:30-3 such as sandwiches, pasta/salad boxes/ pizza / deserts during lunch time so you didn't have to leave for lunch. The main pool had a snack bar open during lunch hours too which served the most amazing panini's / fries/ cheese burger/ chicken burger. The entertainment at night was incredible. Mini disco started at 8:30 but before then the entertainers would do quizzes / bingo etc. at 9:30 the main entertainment was on and was a different act each night. Oriental/ African themed and so much more. One night there was a late night pool party which also accommodated for kids. My 3 year old joined in. The main restaurant was open for about 3 hours each meal and had a good variety of food. It felt quite samey but I always find that on an all inclusive and that was the beauty of having the snack bars during the day for some change. Food was fresh/ delicious and so much to choose from. They have a Moroccan and Italian restaurant on site. We booked to have meals there a couple of nights and they were gorgeous and a nice change from the main restaurant. The only one thing Id say which I was warned about before I went was that there are quite a few wasps that hover around open drinks but they didn't seem interested in bothering people. We were advised to take our own insulated flasks which we did and found most other people did too. The staff were great and would fill the flask up when getting a drink. There was also unlimited sealed small bottles of water available at every drinks bar. 2 of us had a massage in the spa which was very reasonably priced. The resort is a good size but everything was easily accessable and could get from one end to the other in no more than 5 minutes. There is a pool dedicated to adults only which was very relaxing. I was lucky enough to get a few hours peace there on my own one afternoon to relax and read. I would honestly recommend this place in a heartbeat. Our family consisted of 2 adults and kids aged 18,19,11 and 3. We all had a brilliant time and it accommodated all ages.
