Be live Experience Marrakech Palmeraie

We stayed at Be Live Experience Marrakech Palmeraie for five nights as a family on an all-inclusive basis. Overall, we had a very good stay and there is a lot to like about this resort, particularly the spacious duplex room, excellent food, pool facilities and some genuinely lovely staff. However, there are also a few areas that could definitely be improved, especially the snack bar and the way the entertainment is organised.

I’ve broken down our experience into the positives and the areas that could be improved below:

Positives

• Duplex family room: The duplex room was brilliant for a family and very spacious. We had sleeping space downstairs and upstairs and two bathrooms, which made a big difference when travelling with children.
• Food and restaurant service: The main buffet was one of the highlights of the stay. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very good, with plenty of vegetarian choices including different tagines, salads, soups, rice dishes, French toast, omelettes and more. As a vegetarian, I was very happy with the variety. The restaurant staff were also friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
• Swimming pools and children's facilities: The pool area was very good for families, with a children's pool, a very shallow pool, a regular swimming pool and a separate slides area. There were generally enough sunbeds, and staff were happy to open the umbrellas when asked. The slides and shallow areas were particularly good for younger children.
• Main bar and staff: The main bar was another positive. Coffees, soft drinks and other drinks were easy to get, with service available from around midday until midnight. Tariq, Mohamed, Yusuf and the other bar staff were friendly and welcoming and provided very good service.
• Cleaning overall: We were happy with the actual standard of cleaning, and whenever we contacted reception about something it was dealt with. Bedding was changed when needed, including for the children.

Negatives / Areas for Improvement

• Housekeeping organisation: Although the cleaning itself was good, the system could be much better organised. Dirty towels would sometimes be collected first, the room cleaned at another point, and then fresh towels brought later. It felt like several separate visits for something that could easily be completed in one go.
• Snack bar: This was probably the biggest disappointment. The two members of staff who regularly worked there often came across as moody and not particularly welcoming. Food availability was also inconsistent and very dependent on particular times, and even then some advertised options weren't always available. Vegetarian choices were especially disappointing. The vegetable burger was basically salad in a bun rather than an actual veggie burger, pizza wasn't always available, and sometimes the choice was little more than a panini. This was a big contrast to the excellent food and service in the main restaurant.
• Entertainment: This was the other major letdown. There was an entertainment team around during the day, but activities didn't feel frequent or engaging enough. Evening entertainment often didn't start until around 9:40-9:45 pm, while the children's mini-disco could start around 9 pm and sometimes lasted only around 10 minutes. The biggest problem was communication and organisation. Entertainment was often held downstairs in the basement without guests being properly told where it was happening, so people had to ask or work it out themselves. One evening they held the entertainment beside the pool and the difference was huge: the area was packed, families came out and there was a great atmosphere. That showed there were plenty of guests interested in entertainment, but the resort needs to communicate it better, start earlier and make much better use of the spaces available.

-Air conditioning in communal areas: The air conditioning could definitely be improved, particularly in the buffet restaurant. During our stay the weather was extremely hot, around 37–38°C, and the restaurant often felt too warm and never really cool enough, which made meal times less comfortable. The lobby was generally more comfortable, although this could vary, and the lifts also had no air conditioning. We did have an issue with the air conditioning in our upstairs bedroom on the first day, but this was sorted, so I wouldn't consider that a major negative. Overall, I just feel the air conditioning in the main communal areas, especially the buffet restaurant, needs to operate at a better level during very hot weather. Even in entertainment basement area AC was off usually then I had to ask to turn it on.

Lovely hotel, but entertainment was awful, it was downstairs in a basement which was not inviting at all. Went down on first night & entertainment lasted 25mins there was about 10 of us there. They don't even tell you it's in the basement. No daytime activitys on our first 3 day's was there. Someone complained and next day they done water aerobics & water polo in afternoon. Lot's of people sitting outside with children in the evening would been good idea to have kid's disco outside followed by outside entertainment just didn't understand why have it in basement. I picked this hotel because of reading reviews of good entertainment but it was none existent!! Food has a lot to be desired. If fussy you will struggle. Staff at bars are lovely and will do anything for you & very friendly. Cleaning ladies are lovely too.
