- Diwane Hotel and Spa

This hotel is located in the city centre, in the Guéliz district and is an ideal point of departure for walks around the city and visits to cultural sites. The medina is 2 kms away and it is 70 kms to Oukaimeden. Marrakech Airport is just 4 kms from the hotel. This hotel is built in style of traditional Moroccan houses and riads and combines this traditional element with convenient facilities for its guests. The lines and warm colours of the hotel interiors mix Zellige Fassi, marble and mosaics and offer a true haven of peace. There is parking available for those arriving by car. At the spa centre guests can enjoy a real traditional Hammam beauty ritual. This city hotel comprises rooms spread over several floors as well as a garden and a terrace.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I stayed in this hotel. I cut myself on the shower and the bar man was rude prioritising other guests.
Hotel was extremely dated and room was horrendous. I was really worried we were going to catch something from the stains in the bathroom. Had to call the travel agent who put pressure on the hotel to move us. We had already paid extra to get a superior room, there was nothing superior about this!
Breakfast was nice enough as they make fresh omelettes and flatbreads.
Good location but wouldn’t stay here again. Even the locals said the hotel was very bad!
Hotel nice cleaned every day clean towels every day. Pool refreshing drinks expensive but very nice. Food ok spa didn't use but Jacuzzi and treatments available at a cost.
Positives - We were pleasantly surprised with hotel and very reasonable for the price we paid. Great location - close to main street good for shopping, restaurants and 20min walk to Medina. Mini shop round the corner very cheap for snacks and drinks. Room was large, with air con and we had a queen bed. We didnt pay for the upgrade so was an older room yet to be renovated but suited us fine. Mini fridge and safe in room. Large sofa also. Bathroom basic, no qualms. Pool is a great size. Breakfast was lovely variety of omelette, hot food, pastries and cold selection. Lunch bar menu also very tasty - pizza and chicken burger were lovely! Whilst "no alcohol", beer is served at bar in bottles.
Negatives -- It is run down, look closely and there is plenty of maintenence issues around the pool and in the rooms (which they are sorting). Parasols around the pool need replacing (and I would suggest they dont get dragged around daily!) So many sun loungers are left for the day with towels on them - be better to hand out a card at check in to use to claim a towel and if lose card pay a fine - more people wouldn't leave their towels that way and make it easier to move about the pool and find a space. Water bottles should be allowed at the pool also - i get why no fizzy as they want money at the bar but water is a simple human right.
We were a bit worried after reading some of the reviews but have been pleasantly surprised. The rooms were large, clean and spacious. Big bathroom. Super comfy beds and air conditioning. Not much more you can ask for when you are out most of the time anyway. The breakfast was great, we thought. Everything from fresh pastries (big selection) to hot food, to European meats and cheeses, cereals, freshly squeezed juices, yoghurts, fresh fruit, coffee machine, freshly made Moroccan breads, made in front of you and an omlette station. Can’t fault it, at all! ❤️ The staff at the front desk were so lovely and friendly and Azziz, the pool guy was outstanding! Yes the bar guys weren’t the happiest souls but nothing I couldn’t cope with! 🤷🏼♀️ The highlight to our holiday was using the Spa. It is downstairs just beside the pool and the staff were incredible. We had the Hammam treatment and massage and it was THE best we have ever had. The girls were super friendly, thorough and really knew what they were doing. It was so good that even though we were only there for 5 nights, we went back and had the same treatments a second time, the day we were leaving. A definite must when staying at the hotel. Overall, we thought it was great, the drinks were cold, the food we ordered was lovely and 99% of the staff were friendly and welcoming, so we will definitely be back. Thank you Diwane Hotel & Spa 🥰
