Iberostar Founty Beach

Our stay at Iberostar Founty Beach in Agadir left us with mixed feelings. This was our third stay at the hotel, after our first visit more than eight years ago. Unfortunately, we noticed that the hotel has changed very little since then. Many things still feel exactly the same, and we really expected to see more renovations and improvements over the years.

The reception service was very good. The staff were respectful, professional, and attentive.

However, the biggest disappointment was the cleanliness of our room. We were three people, and the sofa bed provided for us was in an unacceptable condition: extremely dirty, covered in stains, yellowed, and very worn out. When we first saw it, we seriously considered cancelling our six-day stay because we simply did not feel comfortable sleeping on it. We reported the issue to reception, and they kindly brought us an additional bed, but unfortunately, that bed was not particularly clean either.

For a hotel of this category, this level of cleanliness is genuinely disappointing and should not happen.

The women’s toilets near the pool were also disappointing and clearly require much more regular cleaning and maintenance.

The hotel’s decoration and furniture also look quite outdated. The sofas in the common areas, in particular, are of poor quality and uncomfortable. When you sit on them, it almost feels as though you are sitting directly on the floor. The common areas, especially the reception, would really benefit from renovation to create a better first impression.

Animation

The animation was unfortunately one of my biggest disappointments.

The dance shows were enjoyable, well performed, and one of the things I genuinely appreciated. However, the Moroccan night was disappointing and lacked preparation and professionalism. It definitely needs to be improved and better organized.

I was also particularly disappointed by the attitude of some members of the animation team. Some were arrogant, disrespectful, and unwelcoming towards guests. I sometimes felt that certain animators gave considerably more attention to foreign guests than to others. Very few members of the team actually made an effort to be friendly and welcoming to everyone.

The behaviour of some of the trainees/stagiaires was even more disappointing. Some acted as though they were managers or people in positions of authority, while making very little effort to participate in the activities or interact properly with guests. One of them, in particular, would spend a lot of time simply standing around without really participating or making any effort, while still behaving in a rather arrogant manner.

I also experienced a particularly unpleasant situation with one of the trainee animators. While we were simply playing together, he said to me in a cold tone: “Stop or I’ll hit you.” Even if he intended it as a joke, this kind of comment is completely inappropriate and can make a guest feel very uncomfortable.

Fortunately, a few members of the team, particularly one girl and one boy, were genuinely kind, respectful, and welcoming towards me, and I want to acknowledge that.

Pool & Food

I would especially like to highlight the young pool staff responsible for pool supervision. They were always smiling, polite, helpful, and extremely respectful. They helped me a lot, and their attitude genuinely contributed to making my stay more pleasant.

Regarding the main restaurant, we were very satisfied with the food. The dishes are varied and good quality, the buffets are regularly replenished, and the drinks are excellent. Breakfast was also delicious, with plenty of choices, and it was great to have food available at different times throughout the day.

However, some members of the pool snack staff were clearly lacking in friendliness. Their attitude sometimes came across as arrogant and unwelcoming, and on several occasions, I was spoken to in a way that I found disrespectful. Unfortunately, this happened more than once, which affected my overall experience.

Despite these negative points, I would like to sincerely thank the people who contributed positively to our stay.

A huge thank you to Abdou and Mohammed, the chefs at the restaurant, for their kindness, professionalism, and warm welcome.

Thank you also to Saadia and Khalid, the bartender, who was always smiling, welcoming, and professional.

I would also like to give a special thank you to Zahrae (or Zohrae), our room attendant, as well as all the housekeeping staff, both women and men, for their kindness, availability, and excellent work.

Final Thoughts

After three stays at this hotel, I genuinely believe that Iberostar Founty Beach has a lot of potential, but it is time for real improvements, particularly regarding renovation, cleanliness, maintenance, animation, and especially the attitude of certain members of staff.

The hotel has many positive aspects, especially the food, some members of the staff, and the dance shows. However, certain attitudes unfortunately create a negative atmosphere that could easily be improved through better training, supervision, and attention to guests.

I sincerely hope management takes this feedback into consideration. This is simply my honest opinion as a returning guest visiting for the third time, and I truly hope to see meaningful improvements on my next visit.

We stayed here for 10 nights. This hotel was everything we wanted and more. The food was always hot and the choices were amazing..desserts were the best we have ver had on an all inclusive holiday. The hotel staff were all very helpful, the cleanliness was very good. I would certainly recommend this hotel in Agadir. Our room was a very good size. The location to the beach was literally outside the rear gate - which was always manned by a security guard.
