Iberostar Founty Beach

So let’s start with the good stuff.

This hotel was amazing. The food was great with absolutely loads of variety, we stayed for 7 nights and never once were hungry or bored of the food. The rooms were huge, the staff were brilliant, everything was clean and the pools were huge and so much fun. Everyday we got a sun-bed without any difficulty and the entertainment had something for pretty much everyone.

Also make sure you head down to the beach and watch the sunset. It’s incredible!!

So what are the downsides? There really aren’t any…it’s that good a hotel….maybe have a separate smoking area as the amount of people smoking can be a bit overwhelming but apart from that don’t change a thing as you are all doing an absolutely brilliant job.

If you are thinking of coming to Agadir then book this hotel I can’t imagine you will get anything better at this price.

Having heard about the infamous Agadir fog / mist , Morocco was never really on our holiday destinations list.

But we finally took a chance and decided to take the plunge and book for Morrcco agadir Even though we did get the sea mist. I am still so glad we did. The hotel is a good solid 3 star and adequate for what we had paid for a 1 week stay at the end of August.

We arrived at 1am at the hotel half a hour drive from the airport.

Everything was closed no food or drink was available so I advice especially if you have children to pick something up along the way. A tax needs to be paid when checking in which was approximately £21.50 for two of us. We asked about late room charges when checking in as our return flight was at 1130pm but where told to inquire on the morning of our departure for room availability. We where pointed to our hotel room no porter. The room was spacious and clean no double bed for a couple but two single beds pushed together that separate with one of you on the floor during any tossing turning. No tea kettle no iron no bottled water in the fridge. Never used safe. You receive a carafe in your room and fill up with filtered water from the machine at the end of the hallway. We purchased bottled water from a local shop and stocked up for the week. The room overlooked the pool and had a balcony. Air conditioning worked and room if requested was cleaned daily to a good standard. Free internet throughout the hotel was hit and miss but we sufficed. You will need it if you go out to adventure. Good range of food and drink at Breakfast lunch dinner and tea times. One issue for me was the fact that I was dismayed and shocked that the hotel served bacon/pork. I have stayed at many hotels in Muslim countries and this is the first time I have seen pork served at a hotel. I inquired about this with one of the staff and they informed me that it was a Iberostar hotel and Spanish owned and the head chef was Spanish so it was really upto them. Thereafter at every meal I inquired during the buffet what was in the dishes if I wasn't sure and made me feel uneasy that the food may be contaminated by pork. They really should not serve pork at the hotel as a majority of the holiday makers where Muslim. I wonder how the board of tourism of Morocco and Muslim council of Morocco would feel if they knew about this especially as Morocco is a strict Muslim country. Regardless of this there was always something decent to eat with many options for vegetarians as well. The fruit and desserts where a treat and very popular with everyone. Live cooking stations at breakfast lunch and dinner. We booked a jeep safari trip with kappa who are in the hotel lobby next to the cash machine near the main doors. Nice comfortable 4x4 advertised from 830till530 but it was more 9 till 3 with a trip across a bridge to see some flamingos in the distance then a visit to a pottery factory and a argan oil/honey shop. Off to a beach coast through some sandy roads and then a dam and after a camel ride and lunch. Nice day out but expected to last all day as advertised but many other trips and excursions are available. Also did a massage at the Argan phyto house ( seperate review ) recommended. The hotel is secure everyone is checked coming and going. Walk to centre of Agadir is approx 45-55 minutes shops restaurants cafes very pleasant and busy in the evenings.If you depart from front of hotel turn left walk 30 minutes straight on you will go past a cat tearoom and shops on the same side further up then to a cross road with more shops a convenience store a chemist and a money exchange but you could exchange money at the hotel we found the same rate everywhere. Agadir beach so lovely and clean you can't take food from the hotel to the beach but you can take drinks. One way of getting around taking food on beach is to bring your own tupperware as they don't allow plates. Cordoned off deck chair area for hotel guests no one bothers you. Shame there is no bar on the beach but the hotel drinks bar cafe is 5 minutes from the beach on hotel grounds. We didn't go to any of the evening shows but from what we saw it was all samey samey dance music acts. I'll get onto taxis . So there are taxis outside the hotel across the road . Yellow taxis and orange taxis . We where naive as it was our first time in Agadir and got the wool pulled over our eyes. Our first trip was to the crocodile park chatting to the owner of the yellow taxi we explained we wanted to go to the crocodile park one way. He asked us how we where going to get back as there was no taxi there to bring us back. We said that we would be fine as we wanted to go to the crocodile park and then walk it to town go to the local market and we will get a taxi back. He told us that one way would be £10 and we would be better off getting a taxi to take us there and wait till we finished then take us to the market and then return to the hotel and wanted £35 and this would be the cheapest option or we would get stuck . Anyway there was taxis at the crocodile park. We later found out from one of the orange taxis that took us one night to the cable cars that the trip should have cost no more than £15. After this we did not use the taxis outside the hotel. If you exit the front of the hotel and turn right to the end of the road you can easily flag down a orange taxi and we found they where much cheaper. Please if you get a chance on a clear night go the cable cars it really is worth it . The 360* cinema dome on the beach promenade is ok if you have nothing else to do. Saffron Indian restaurant recommended for a traditional Indian curry that is in Agadir along the prom. Overall I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to others but most of all recommending Morocco and Agadir is a very special place as is the people that we have fallen in Love with.

What an amazing hotel with amazing staff. This was our first visit to Iberostar Founty Beach although we have been to the Iberostar in Tenerife many times. We have already booked to return to the hotel for the same time next year but have taken the decision to come for 3 weeks next time. The Hotel is in an amazing location right on the beach front with direct access to its one private area of the beach with sunbeds. From the hotel there is also an amazing walk along the beach front which I did numerous times towards the Marina. The hotel is lovely and peaceful with a lovely pool area. There were plenty of sunbeds, even for us who never really got down to the pool much before 11am. Yes, people do seem to reserve the beds however there were plenty for everyone. The pools are a good depth, some have commented they are deep however we felt this was a plus point and provided a fantastic swim. Thought the day, the entertainment team were fantastic and provided activities around the pool. Bar staff kept us nicely hydrated with whatever we wanted and were often walking around bringing drinks over if you wanted this. Evening entertainment usually comprised of a q quiz at the downstairs bar followed by a stage dance show with professional dancers. After this It was usually back to the downstairs bar with more music from a guitarist with some party dances. Entertainments team were as ever fantastic in getting everyone involved and ensuring we all had a great time. I think there has to be a shout out to Saad who always took the time to speak with us.

The rooms are excellent and would really recommend the Beach Front rooms. We had an amazing view from the room and it was lovely to turn the AC off and fall asleep with the door open, listening to the sound of the waves. The rooms are kept clean daily with the amazing cleaning staff. We had a lovely lady, Fatima, who always took the time to speak with us and ensured are room was always clean.

The food at the hotel is amazing with lots of Moroccan dishes and tagines. The main restaurant is self service as per our stays at other Iberostar Hotels. We found plenty of new dishes to try each evening and never got bored with the food. A nice touch was that at the beginning of our stay the waiters were really helpful, asked what drinks we would like and the time we would usually come in. They then reserved our table and had our drinks ready each evening. A huge shout out to Yassine and Ichrake for this and being so helpful during our stay. There was a large range of food for breakfast and lunch also in the main restaurant. We did however use the pool bar and restaurant a lot of the time which suited our needs. The pool bar has a good selection of food throughout the day and saves being up too early to catch a breakfast in the main restaurant. For a "dry" country we found the selection of drinks fine with several good beers and plenty of spirits. As with other staff, the bar staff were fantastic and soon picked up on our usual drinks.

The staff absolutely make this hotel. Everyone we met from when we first arrived to when we left made sure we had the best time. Its difficult to remember every name however Saad from enretaintent, Fatima who cleaned our room, Yassine and Ichrake who ensured we always had the best service at meal times, the bar staff who ensure we had our drinks and the entertainment team as a whole who ensured we had a great time. Lastly a shout out to Yissou ? ( I think that's correct) who was the guest service manager who we had spoken to about returning next year. We had such a fantastic time we have already booked to come back and Yissou had said he would try and help us have the same room again as it was such a nice view.
