Atlantica Sancta Napa

Atlantica Sancta Napa is by far my favourite hotel in Ayia Napa, food is amazing, staff are the best - nothing too much trouble and very clean. Great location, close to the beach and bar street but not noisy, perfect. Would recommend this hotel to anybody

We stayed All inclusive in 2 x premium double rooms (322/323) from September 21st - 2nd October, All inclusive. One couple and my Mum and family friend. (No children). (Note premium double rooms are slightly larger than a standard but there is no balcony. Big sliding doors but not able to actually sit outside so bear this in mind when booking).

Positives: The hotel is very clean, rooms are nice and the grounds are well kept. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and very accomodating.

Cannot fault the food - there isn’t loads of choice but you will find something to eat every night even if you are fussy. There isn’t too much child friendly food, nuggets chips and pizza every night but no plain pasta or plain chicken etc.

Pool area is nice and a good temperature. Baby pool has a small slide and water fountain with a big canopy over part of it so if you want some shade for little ones whilst in the pool thats good.

Location is very good, far enough away that its quiet but very much within walking distance to everything else.

Snack bar is very good during the day.

The rooftop asian restaurant is lovely. A lot of sushi in the starters but you dont have to have this - food was beautiful and service excellent.

Cypriot restaurant again very nice and service wonderful, very accomodating.

Rooms for improvement:

Italian - I cant comment on the actual food as we didnt end up eating here. We arrived for our booking and were eventually seated, once paying customers had been seated first (even though we had arrived before them). We were then handed a full menu to look at, which was then taken away as hotel AI guests have a different menu. On this menu we spoke with staff as one of our party has a dietary requirement (seafood and cheese) which they were not happy to meet or exchange anything. There seemed to be a big issue on cooking something fresh without sauce or leaving off seafood (which I am sure would have been done for a paying customer) or being able to order something else off the other menu. Then the person in our party was able to decide on a dish and worked around it themselves, but after 15 minutes of staff serving and seating paying customers first before us (even though we had arrived and were seated first) we then decided to leave and eat in the main restaurant. It was very apparent we were separate to the paying customers off the street and staff were more concerned with them making sure they were happy. Main restaurant seated us no problem.

I understand it is a separate restaurant, however as AI guests technically, we had already paid, but it seems customers off the street come first here. I’m not sure if they had noticed we had left to be honest.

I was very disappointed to find out the soft drinks are non branded. I like a proper coke with my evening meal but it is cheap unbranded cola - not nice at all. (Same goes for all the fizzy). The fizzy orange was okay so stuck to that. There are no self serve for soft drinks or beer so you have to go the bar which gets very busy. No slushies. Depending on who makes your coffee, depends if you get a nice touch like whipped cream etc for example on a baileys coffee. There was one lady behind the bar who did it properly - the rest did not.

I drink a lot of water - for the whole hotel there is one water station which is outside near the bar. (There is another in the deluxe area, but this is quite a walk from the main pool). I found this unusual as most places have them dotted around including on hotel floors near the rooms.

If you have a soft drink, non alcoholic cocktail or hot drink - it comes in a paper cup even in the evenings. I felt like a 5 year old who couldnt be trusted with a glass. Considering how much we were set back for this holiday, I woukd expect at the very least a plastic cup.

This is the same for the deluxe swim up rooms too. If I had paid to stay in one of those rooms (which are absolutely gorgeous and have their own bars etc) but was given non branded soft drinks and paper cups I would not be happy at all. Ive stayed in many resorts for the same price or less and have still had branded soft drinks and given a proper cup/glass.

The restaurant itself is very open which is lovely - however when the weather is windy, your food is hot from the restaurant but very quickly goes cold. So you get used to lukewarm meals unfortuntely. It would be good if when windy if staff could pull the shutters across to block it out.

For dinner you are seated and found a table - breakfast and lunch is like a free for all and just chaos. At dinner out of the 6 we ate here, and 8 lunches, there were inly 2 occasions where we didn’t have to ask for drinks. The rest of the time we had to request service.

This could be easily resolved if either there were self serve stations or the restaurant had a proper system going to reduce chaos.

Very small choice of wines and beer.

The sunbeds are SO uncomfortable. I am fit and healthy and not overweight but my back was killing me! My Mum does however have a disability so we either used the beds round the kids pool which have cushions or the adults only ones which are a different design and much better - not an option though for families or those who want to sit round the main pool. The ones round the main pool have a huge gap at the back, so bottom of your back has 0 support. The sunbeds shown online/facebook etc round the main pool are not the ones actually here.

In the room, the shower doors have a slight gap in the corner so its easy to end up with a very wet floor.

Pool towels can only be changed every 2 days which is odd - Ive been to plenty of other resorts around the world who are also eco friendly, no single use plastic etc but you can change your pool towels daily if you wish. Note to add Reuseable plastic cups would be better than cardboard - this is still eco friendly and would create less rubbish.

The entertainment is terrible. Karaoke some nights, a man with a violin and guitar, a magic show and a dancing show. Theres not much atmosphere in the evenings overall and we were bored in all honesty.

There isnt too much going on in the day, some activities but not a lot really. Im not sure if theres a kids club - if there is it isnt very well advertised. I usually travel with my sister and her children as well so was keeping them in mind during our holiday too.

The hotel manager is very present and I think once a week hosts a nice meal in the main restaurant for returning guests - posh table cloths, shots brought out st the end, specific servers for the table which is lovely - but we (as first timers) were not approached or spoken to during our stay, which was disappointing.

Overall its a very nice hotel, and the staff are lovely. With the above improvements it could be an absolutely brilliant hotel.

I would be happy to return if improvements were made but as it stands I probably wouldnt come back. We had a nice holiday but were happy to return home - usually I never want to leave when I go on holiday.
