Constructive criticism, particularly for those who are not familiar with the hotel
Flamingo Paradise Beach Hotel is a lovely place; however, in my opinion, it needs a few more seasons to iron out and perfect some of its service and convenience issues.
One of the features that surprised us considerably was the rather bizarre room design. I acknowledge that the photographs on the website clearly indicated the unusual layout, including the fact that the basins are not in the bathroom. However, we assumed this might simply have been a feature of the photographs rather than the actual room configuration. Having the basin inside the bedroom rather than the bathroom was rather shocking, as I honestly cannot remember the last time I stayed somewhere where the bathroom did not have a basin.
The second surprise was the IKEA-like room design, which seems clearly geared towards the minimalist Scandinavian traveller. Absolutely no offence intended to my beautiful Scandinavian friends, but this is supposed to be a 4/5-star hotel. There is not a single drawer in the room, nor is there a proper door or cupboard to conceal belongings that would normally be stored in a wardrobe or drawers. The bedside tables are also impractical: approximately 30 cm in diameter, they provide very little useful space for personal items.
The absence of bathrobes in a self-styled 5-star hotel is, frankly, rather disappointing. This is an expensive hotel, not a motel or a 3-star establishment.
Let’s start with the pros:
Fantastic location. Friendly staff in general. Excellent food quality in both the breakfast area and the seaside café. New building with modern fixtures and fittings. Blessed with an exceptional beach and truly paradise-like surroundings. Delightfully quiet, thanks to the adults-only policy. A peaceful and very clean feel throughout the property. The mattress is exceptional compared with those in other hotels in Cyprus. Well done, and a big thank you for that.
Cons:
Reception staff need considerably more training. Upon departure, two otherwise pleasant-looking ladies seemed primarily concerned with settling the outstanding balance, without any mention of how we had enjoyed our stay, whether we had any concerns, or whether we had any feedback. It felt more like visiting a corner shop to buy a bottle of water and being processed through a quick card transaction than checking out of a 4/5-star hotel. The bathroom design, or lack thereof, is quite astonishing for a 4/5-star hotel. There is not a single shelf or suitable space to put even your glasses. There is virtually nowhere to place anything, apart from a single hanger (thank God) for one towel. The shower unit itself—which can hardly be described as a bathroom—feels more like something you might find in a motorway motel or perhaps an aircraft shower unit in first class. The partially frosted glass door to the shower is, to say the least, off-putting. Given the open-plan design of the room, a greater degree of privacy would certainly be appreciated. The sun loungers are designed at an extremely steep angle, close to 45 degrees, despite being made from good-quality wood. Even my sun lounger at home can be adjusted to a much more practical angle, including almost completely upright. Overall
A lovely place in a fantastic location, with excellent food, a beautiful beach, a peaceful atmosphere and some genuinely very good features.
But would I go there again?
Hmm… possibly, but only if I were travelling by myself.
For couples—young or old—who would rather not have their partner intimately acquainted with their habits at the sink or toilet, this particular room design may not be the best way to enhance a relationship… or, indeed, to avoid sabotaging one :) !
Simply wonderful massage from Krista and Anita.May your hands bring pleasure to many clients.Thank you 🙏🏽❤️
I spent 10 days at this exceptional hotel with my husband. I knew it was a new hotel and not part of a chain, so we decided to give it a chance. It went beyond our expectations!
Location: situated beachfront and in the heart of Protaras, it allows you to both enjoy the perfect beach (cristal clear water, golden sand) and the very very good restaurants and shops which are just around the hotel. Given its location it was not necessary to rent everyday sunbeds and umbrella at Vryssi Beach since the ones from the hotel were just a few steps away from the beach. By the end of septmeber the hotel was fully booked, but we still managed to find sunbeds at any hour during the day.
Atmosphere: everything felt extremely professional. The hotel has a 5* maintenance and the staff is ready to assist you at any time, with a big smile on their faces, no matter the situation. We encountered minor issues which were very promptly adressed and resolved. Daria from the reception was very communicative and keen on making sure we had an amazing time and that I feel very comfortable at any time given the fact that I was pregnant. We appreciated her interest.
Rooms, cleanliness: the housekeeping team keep the hotel extremly tidy and clean with the same level of respect and positive attitude towards guests. Special mention goes to the whole team! We appreciated they were asking us how we feel, happily engaging with us, while mainting very high standards of cleanliness. The rooms are spacious and very well taken care of. The electrical panel which controls lightning and A/C had a malfunction in one day, but it was very fast addresed and resolved!
Noise level: unfortunately, the hotel next to Flamingo hosts many events and parties (esspecially during weekends) and the music coming from them is very loud usually, but the good news is that it stops at 12 AM (midnight), or it should as their legislation mentions. So if you happen to receive a room oriented towards that hotel it won’t be pleasant, but it’s not the Flamingo’s Team fault. Other than that, the hotel is very calm and quiet.
Food from the breakfast and the beach restaurant is very tasty, you have many options to choose from. We loved that they had both traditional and simple/classic dishes, with the ingredients and allergens mentioned in the menus so you did not have to ask every time about them.
Overall: definitely the value for the money paid was great! Would love to come back again!
We had the best massage ever by Fatma and Anita. I highly recommend. Very good service. The Hotel is very clean. Good vibes. We loved our stay. All staff did all to make our vacation the best time ever
We had such a lovely evening at Flamingo and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
The food was delicious, with excellent gluten-free options, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The service really stood out. Flamingo is a family-run business, and you can feel the care and attention they put into making their guests feel special.
After dinner, we enjoyed some fantastic cocktails in the Cosmos Bar, which was the perfect way to finish the evening.
Flamingo is run by a wonderful family. Orestis, Anna and their mother Lisa are genuinely lovely people who work incredibly hard to create a special experience for their guests.
Great food, lovely atmosphere, friendly service and wonderful people. We will definitely be returning!
