Leonardo Laura Beach and Splash Resort

A wonderful family experience. At the spa we were welcomed by the wonderful Kristina with her golden hands

We found the Leonardo Laura to be a really disappointing experience so most of this review will be quite poor but I will try my best to give a balanced view which might help future families book the right holiday.

Our Experience We arrived and the room we were allocated smelt of cigarettes, really strong smell and for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young children (5 and 7)) we naturally made the Front office aware of our disappointment, the Management refused to do much about this until we really complained and they reluctantly moved us into a temporary room until the next day, the room we were given next was fine, although we booked 2 Double Beds we were allocated 1 Double Bed for the kids (which is basically a pull sofa bed but it was a good size for them to share) and 2 Twin beds pushed together, we didn't want to complain too much so we simply asked for the beds to be made into a Double, they did this 24 hours later instead of on the same day. We had to chase them down to do this for us. This set the tone for us that the Senior Management in the Hotel didn't have much empathy, we were almost made to feel that we were causing trouble rather than being a guest whose expectations were not met, we just wanted a room that didn't smell and a room that we booked, surely not much to ask. We stayed in the end for 7 nights, other couples we met who had kids mentioned they had to complain when they arrived, 2 of the couples also had room changes. Overall we wouldn't go back, I don't know if Leonardo is a chain but if it is we certainly would think twice before booking another hotel.

Food Breakfast was fine, nothing to shout out about, selection was ok, in other all inclusive hotels there has been a Chef cooking fresh Eggs and Omelettes, this Hotel didn't have that, so breakfast got quite mundane but that could be in most places not just here Lunch and Dinner really was lovely, the food tasted fresh and there was a nice selection on different days so it did feel quite refreshing that there was different options, for Kids it was quite samey, pasta and pizza to choose from and a separate kids selection was available Other thing to mention with the buffet areas is we had people pushing in front of us all the time, we see it in most all inclusive's and it must be a cultural thing but be prepared for this A La Carte Restaurants Firstly I would advice you book these straight away when you arrive as the slots can fill up quite quickly, there are 4 (Italian, American Burger, Greek, Lebanese), we dined in the Italian, American Burger and Greek - our favourite was the Italian, fresh food, nice ambience and good selection, American Burger does what it says on the tin, huge portions as well, the Greek was lovely, if anything too much food, you don't get to pick from a menu its basically brought out to you, really tasty though Pool Side Food I really liked this and tbh you could have quite easily filled yourself up on this, the Italian had pizza and Pasta dishes out (same the whole week so not much to choose from), Caesar Salads, and Sandwiches, and small mini desserts, Other food in other areas had hot dogs, burgers, chicken nuggets, greek style wraps which were lovely, again smaller desserts here as well

Cleanliness We found the Hotel to be quite dirty I am afraid, the room always had black hairs lying around from the the Housekeeping Staff (who were lovely people by the way) but yes maybe they should wear hairnets? The Splash Park had Blue Mats you laid down on to go down the slides and the majority of those had mould on them In other All Inclusive's there has always been regular staff cleaning all the areas but we didn't see this here, I assumed they cleaned up at 6pm when everyone went to the room and that was that for the day

Pools There are 2 main pools, we tended to use the one at the top floor, had more shade during the morning, the one on the lower floor was used for games like Water Volleyball and things like that, it was really good fun Not huge pools but I must say what was quite nice was there wasn't the usual clammer to get a bed first thing in the morning, no-one was fighting over them which i have seen in other all inclusive's, it is clearly a busy hotel but I never felt it was over crowded.

Splash Park Splash Park was fun, we found 30 minutes to 1 hour was enough as there wasnt much to choose from, in total there are 5 slides, the big Green and Yellow one (adults only) was never in use for the whole time we were there, there are 2 slides that use rubber rings, one is only suitable for children of all ages, the other is 6 years plus, then there was the slide with the mouldy mats and then the pink slide, it was fun as splash parks are but not much choice, i would also say this was open to members of the public so not private

Beach Some people would either love or hate the beach, it isnt private although it does look like it is, quite secluded as well and the most people we saw there was about 20 people, there is a beach right next door which is a public beach, you can pay $7.50 for a bed and $7.50 for an umbrella if you wanted too The "Hotel" beach wasn't sandy, pebbly and rocky until you got about 20 feet out and then it was sand, my kids liked swimming in the sea but you didn't feel like you were in the sea as the beach was surrounded by rocks

Overall I am giving the review 2 of out 5, the positive bits of the hotel was that it was fairly quiet in the pool areas, the Dinner in particular was very good and the kids enjoyed the splash park but the start of our stay started with disappointment, we didn't feel like the Management cared too much which for the money you pay on these All Inclusive Holidays I have stayed in much better places

The greatest thing about this hotel is the people, especially Chrystalla. ❤️ It’s rare to meet someone so warm, open and genuinely interested in making every guest feel welcome. She greets everyone like an old friend and immediately makes you feel at home. The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable, but it was the atmosphere and hospitality that made our stay truly memorable.
