King Evelthon Beach Hotel and Resort

This hotel is definitely not a five star hotel.

Positives Good pool area, good water park, decent food, nice hotel lobby.

Negatives Hotel rundown in places, poor staff on reception, all inclusive drinks were not nice, no pool side snack bar for kids, leaking air conditioning unit dripping down 3 floors and flooding our balcony, I reported and nothing was done.

I paid £5600 for 7 nights for 2 adults and 2 children, not worth the money. I have been to Cyprus a number of times and I would never stop at this hotel again.

I wanted to start this review by saying: did we have a nice time? Yes, we did. We made the most of it.

That said, the hotel’s 5-star rating is questionable.

I’ll start with the positives. The food was lovely for an all-inclusive resort. We genuinely didn’t have a bad meal throughout our stay. The rooms were nice, the pools were lovely, and although the drinks were only average, they were perfectly drinkable.

Now for the negatives. The staff were, unfortunately, the worst we’ve ever encountered at a hotel. The level of English was very poor, and unless you were a foreign guest, don’t expect much help or even basic manners such as “please” or “thank you.”

The entertainment was also the worst we’ve ever experienced. The entertainment team had very little personality, and there was very little on offer in the evenings. It was bingo almost every night, with the only change being a 10-minute parrot show on one evening. There was no real variety, and the atmosphere was very flat.

The lift nearest our room was also out of order for our entire stay, meaning we had to walk halfway across the hotel every time we wanted to get to the ground floor. It was never repaired and became a daily inconvenience.

Another frustration was the room keys. We were initially given just one key, and when we asked for a second, it was only agreed to reluctantly. On top of that, we were charged €5 for the key, which seemed unnecessary and disappointing for a hotel claiming to be 5-star.

Overall, we still managed to have a good holiday because we made the best of it, but the poor service, lack of entertainment, ongoing maintenance issues, and overall experience mean we wouldn’t return. In our opinion, this hotel falls well short of what we’d expect from a genuine 5-star resort.
