St George Beach Hotel and Spa Resort - Adults Only

Arrived a bit later due to flight delay. Was welcomed with a glass of fizz. Check in was quick, and given our room key. We were allocated 4381, lovely room, overlooking pools and sea, nice big balcony. Food was still available from the Patisserie which was very good. Hotel has Sun bed allocation system. Which was very good, no dashing down at 6am to put towels out. So if you were lucky enough to be allocated a sun bed where you wanted to be, great, if not it could spoil your holiday. So we were allocated down by the beach bar to start with. Nice sea breezes, and great staff (Manisha) at bar. Only problem sun beds were wet I the mornings due to sprinkler system We asked to be moved, and after a few days we were at the "quiet) pool. Lovely area, again great bar service ( Anisha) who was lovely . Sun bed allocation is good in the main. Beach area, small piece of sand, and a bit rocky to enter the sea, you need beach shoes. Food: plentiful, lots of places to snack, plus the Patisserie. Breakfast, the usual, eggs, bacon, omelette, tomatoes, baked beans cold meats, porridge , assortment of breads. Lunch, good selection in the main, maybe not hot enough. Soups at lunch and dinner were very good. Good selection of desserts. Evening meal; always a roast meat, plus pasta, Greek foods, potatoes, fish, salads, bread selection, ice cream or desserts. We booked 3 a la carte venues. Asian, very nice, although main lacking flavour Italian, again nice, but not very flavoursome... Route 66, again nice, my steak was a bit tough, and waiter offered to replace but I'm not a big eater.... so didn't bother. Lovely dessrt Lava cake, delicious. Bingo on Friday nights, entertainment was OK nothing special so we didn't bother. GREAT bars to suit everyone, lovely wine bar, nice place to sit of an evening. All in all its a really good hotel, just a few little personal niggles. Area; not much in the immediate area, we hired a car, went to Coral Bay Latchi and Polis, Mandria, Rickos Beach, and Timi, and a few mikes up the road to a lovely harbour at Agious Georgious, where we were lucky enough to see a couple of turtles up close. Hotel us spotless throughout. All in all its a good hotel, plus we met lots of returning visitors some who'd been returning year after year.

We arrived for the first time late in the evening, we checked in. Other than being told our room number the only other info given was that the snack bar was still open! Our room was on level -1 and overlooking the pool and sea (selected and paid for view) the following morning it was like a deserted hotel as no one was up and on any sunbeds at 7am (we are early risers and even 7am was late for us) we then had to hang around until 8am for the sunbed allocation desk to open. This was frustrating as we just wanted to settle down and start our holiday. We weren’t fussed about the pool area but did not want grass, why anyone would want to go on holiday and sit on the grass amazes me. Its all muddy or grass cuttings everywhere. We asked for the beach and were allocated in the middle row as we were told “its in the sun from early to late” it actually wasn’t, it was gone 11am before the sun hit where we were so I went back and asked if we could have a front row on the beach. Luckily we were able to from the second day and stayed there for the rest of our holiday even when they contacted us to say poolside was available. The beach is quiet and relaxing, the sea can be tricky to enter but we found an easy route in line with the watersports rope. On check in we weren’t informed to book our al a carte as soon as possible so by the time we did (day 2 or 3) we could only get times for the asian and route 66. The food in here was lovely, service was a bit hit and miss. Why not just leave the water on the table, we ended up having to ask twice in the end. Route 66 dessert order was taken and asked twice what we ordered to still having the wrong ones arrive at the table. Mistakes happen but out of 4 choices on the menu its not hard to remember 2. My husband also asked for a coke but they bought a pint of beer.

We found the buffet restaurants (breakfast, lunch and dinner) to be awful. Same repetitive foods most of which weren’t labelled so you had no clue what the food was. Its a bit misleading saying they are live cooking, yes you can see them cook but live cooking means they cook it for you. They don’t even cook you an omelette, they are all pre made getting cold in the tray. The food station in the breakfast and dinner are all too close to each other, its like a scramble to try and get to the puddings when others are trying to the mains.

The hotel is nice but I wouldn’t give it 4*+ its more of a 3*, i get they have al a cartes and several snack bars but that shouldn’t stop the main buffet restaurants having a decent variety of food aswell.
