We just got back from a 10 day family break 2 adults 1x 13 year old. Upon arrival the hotel was clean and very quick to check in.
Our swim up room on the poolside was a brilliant room very modern. Only down side is glass doors on the toilet with no lock allowing the door to swing both ways and full shower very strange.
The swim up deck area very clean with table and chairs and 2 sun beds. Unfortunately the swim up didn’t get any sun until 3pm which was enough for 1 sun-bed. So we ended up becoming part of the sun bed reserving at silly o’clock in the morning. Even tho the hotel says no reserving beds.
Pool was only 1.4m that’s all pools children weren’t allowed to jump in or play with a life guard with a whistle every time someone did something wrong!
Got to meet some good people while we was around the pool area with the same consensus that it’s not what is advertised.
Swim up bar was good with Maria who kept everyone supplied with plenty of drinks all day works very hard.
Food on a general was ok but became a little same same as the days went on. I have a very fussy teenager who basically lived on plain pasta and chicken nuggets daily.
Main breakfast in the morning was very good and clean again a lot to choose from as well. Evening was a bit of a walk for dinner especially if anyone was unable to walk that far daily could do with a few more golf buggy’s to accommodate that.
Staff around the hotel very friendly and helpful when needed including sitting areas outside always clean and tidy.
We went on the wave dancer boat trip but booked before flying out was amazing day out highly recommend.
We also hired an electric Trike scooter myself and my 13 year old went around everywhere for 3 hours for €60 hire highly recommend.
Buses would suggest skip waiting I flagged a taxi down after 50mins waiting was very quick to get into the harbour had a few people jump in to get them into town quicker.
The HUGE let down was the evening entertainment!!
What in the holy car crash! I have seen some bad entertainment over different holidays over the years but this is by far the worst I’ve ever seen. That’s putting it politely.
For me I think it needs serious work on the entertainment side I would look out outsourcing.
I would rate the food 8/10 Pool and amenities 7.5/10 due to certain restrictions Staff 9/10 Location 7/10
Overall holiday 7/10 but if you are looking for action packed and a lot to do I would suggest looking at other places
We travelled as a family of nine to celebrate my 60th birthday, and what an absolutely fabulous holiday we had! We weren’t quite sure what to expect, as my husband and I are an older couple who usually opt for TUI Platinum or Gold hotels, often with adult-only areas. We knew this holiday was going to be very different, but we were completely blown away by the quality of the hotel, the food, the entertainment and, most importantly, how much there was for everyone in the family to enjoy.
We chose to upgrade to Superior Rooms, and we were so pleased that we did. The upgraded rooms were brilliant — comfortable, spacious and perfect for our family holiday.
The food throughout the hotel was excellent, with plenty of choice to suit everyone. The only disappointment for us was the Mexican and Greek à la carte restaurants, which are available to book as part of the All Inclusive package. We actually found the choice and quality in the main hotel restaurants to be much better.
Unfortunately, our experience in the Greek restaurant was particularly disappointing. The service was very poor, and it felt as though the staff were concentrating more on guests who weren’t part of the hotel’s All Inclusive package. We had to ask several times for drinks and to place our order. We were also surprised that clean plates and cutlery weren’t provided for each course — we were expected to use the same set for both. Nobody checked whether everything was okay with our food, and we weren’t offered dessert. Eventually, after waiting for someone to clear the table and take our dessert order, we decided we had waited long enough and gave up on having dessert and coffee. This was such a shame, as everything else about our stay was so enjoyable.
As with many popular holiday resorts, you did have to get up early if you wanted to secure sun loungers and parasols, particularly as we were a large family. It wasn’t really a surprise and is something we’ve experienced on many holidays, so it certainly didn’t spoil our stay.
The entertainment team, however, were absolutely amazing. They work incredibly hard and are always cheerful and welcoming. They made such an effort with the children, remembering them and speaking to them whenever they saw them around the complex. Our grandchildren absolutely loved the kids’ club, the evening chocolate party and the birthday party — there were smiles all around!
A very special mention has to go to Keeva and Liam from the Swim Academy. They were absolutely fantastic. We booked swimming lessons for our grandchildren, and their patience, encouragement and enthusiasm were phenomenal. The children gained so much confidence and thoroughly enjoyed their lessons. They are a real credit to the hotel and the Swim Academy.
We were also fortunate enough to be able to keep two of our three rooms on for a late check-out, and this was well worth it. It made our final day so much more relaxed, particularly with a large family.
Overall, Aliathon Holiday Village gave us a fantastic family holiday and a 60th birthday celebration that I will remember for a very long time. Despite a couple of disappointments with the à la carte dining experience, the positives far outweighed the negatives. The quality of the hotel, food, entertainment and, above all, the wonderful staff made this a truly memorable holiday for all nine of us.
Thank you to everyone at Aliathon for helping us create such wonderful family memories. We would definitely consider returning
This was our third stay at this hotel and while it was still a lovely stay, there were some things that weren't as good.
The first thing is sunbeds. There were sunbeds being reserved overnight and about 90% of them all reserved by 715am. With a number of them unoccupied for most of the day.
The hotel used to remove them when they were unoccupied but no longer do and let's be honest, who wants to set an alarm and get up at the crack of dawn on holiday?
Secondly, while the food was always plentiful and there was always a good selection, the quality wasnt as high as it has previously been with some of the meats being a bit gristly.
The grounds are still stunning and well maintained and the staff are really friendly.
My son joined the football academy which he really enjoyed (and the main reason we booked this hotel).
I would also like to give a special thank you to the evening bar man who made the most amazing espresso martini and passionfruit martinis and was always so friendly.
We have just returned home from a 7 day visit as a family of 9 - 6 adults, 3 Children (age 6,3,3). We stayed in the Ionian superior rooms, which were clean, spacious and modern. Our room was at the front of the hotel, so noise wasn’t an issue. One of the other rooms allocated to our party faced the entertainment, which was quite noisy, but was manageable. The atmosphere is buzzing which is created by the members of HV staff around the main pool.
HV staff - the HV staff work tirelessly to ensure you and your family have a great experience. The three children in our party did the kids clubs daily which they loved and a huge amount of that was down to the staff running the sessions! We also enrolled the two youngest into the swim academy, which was excellent. Caira and Liam were excellent and had a huge amount of patience with the two youngest in our group. We did the high rope course with the eldest in our group and the staff were great again.
Food on the whole was great. The breakfast buffet offered a good selection (cooked options, fruit, cereals, cakes, pancakes etc). Lunchtime offerings were either a buffet which again had a good selection which was different each day. There was also a snack bar serving pizza, nuggets, chips, salad, sandwiches etc. The evening meal was a buffet at a different location within the resort. The evening food was excellent and was a different theme each night. The only thing I would suggest is a specific children’s corner with a greater offering similar to the HV Turkey. There was always a choice of chicken nuggets or fish fingers, pizza and pasta. The food was always fresh, hot and flavourful. The evening buffet in our opinion was very than the à la carte offerings (Mexican and Greek - which I have reviewed separately).
Drinks wise, there is a lobby bar at which the staff were great! There was a separate bar near the entertainment too. The lobby bar stopped serving drinks in glass due to people taking glass away from the bar, which was a disappointment - the plastic glasses aren’t the same - however we understood why (safety reasons). Staff on the whole were very good, other than the lady behind the Ionian swim up bar who was very abrupt.
The spa on site was reasonably priced and they didn’t have someone walking around the pool daily, trying to sell treatments like some hotels which was refreshing.
Sun beds - at the start of the holiday, it was easy to get sun beds. As the week went on, it became more harder. I’m generally awake early and go for a walk each morning before the kids wake up. One morning there were people reserving loungers at 5am when I was leaving the resort. We had a number of loungers next to us that were reserved and remained in used all day.
Overall a great hotel, we would definitely return. Compared with other TUI Holiday village hotels, this is definitely one of the best.
We’re do i start, we arrived at around 11.30pm shown to our room as soon as we walked in the room smelt foul and dirty I went into the bathroom and the smell was horrendous I lifted the lid and it had yellow liquid on the seat and the water in the bottom was dirty, I then went and complained to which they said they would sort it, we paid nearly £4000 for a weeks holiday as a family of 4, the room was not the best and the “sofa bed” was only a single chair that does not even go flat it rises up so your sleeping on an angle, I asked to pay for an upgrade and they said it would cost €50 per day for a better room I said that’s fine, they said come back tomorrow we will sort it, I went back the next day to be told not possible come back the next day which I did, then told again not possible and to keep trying everyday.
The bar man that works at the bar in the kids splash park is very miserable I seen him charge a family €40 for some drinks as they were not included in the all inclusive but failed to mention that to them before and they had no choice to pay,
Positives are the food great amazing selection and could not fault the chefs,
