The Elysium has a wonderfully individual sense of style. Architecturally it feels very modern, but also, absolutely in keeping with some of the finest local architecture. Highlights include a multi-level pool and a wonderful Royal Pool available to adults only and guests staying in the Royal Wing.
Great emphasis is given to relaxing you utterly. So do take full advantage of the on-site Opium health spa, complete with steam bath, sauna and Jacuzzi. Moreover, when you're fully relaxed and enjoying that deep-down sense of contentment, you can go and take a turn on the tennis court, or in the PADI dive centre. Extremely disappointing experience for a supposed 5-star hotel.
We arrived at Elysium around 3:00 a.m. without a reservation. Parking was already confusing, but the real problem started at the entrance. We rang the bell and explained that we wanted two rooms. We were told their system was restarting and we would have to wait around 45 minutes — and then they simply left us standing outside with the door locked. We had to ring three times before someone finally let us inside.
Once inside, things didn’t improve. We waited around 1–1.5 hours in total before getting our rooms. Everything was closed, and despite knowing we were waiting to book two rooms, nobody even offered us a glass or bottle of water.
We eventually paid around €800 for two rooms, which we used for only 2–3 hours before breakfast and departure. No consideration or gesture whatsoever after the experience.
Breakfast was very average for a hotel of this level. Plenty of choice, but mediocre quality. The omelette was good; the croissant was honestly terrible.
The worst part, however, was how our complaint was handled. We spoke with Stamatis, a manager/responsible person, expecting at least some understanding. Instead of listening, he immediately became defensive, repeatedly explaining that this was “policy” and barely allowing us to finish explaining what had happened. No genuine apology, no empathy, no attempt to make things right.
At this price point and for a hotel presenting itself as 5-star, you expect hospitality — especially when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, we experienced the exact opposite.
Our experience of the service was nowhere near five-star standard.
Outstanding hotel, outstanding food & service
We stayed in the hotel 6 nights, 3 deluxe sea view rooms, 4 adults and 2 teenagers, one with Celiac. Full board. The rooms are large and very spacious, comfortable and clean. Food was outstanding and so was the service. All hotel staff are aware of gluten cross contamination and dealt with the Celiac very professionally with a large variety of food. All hotel staff we met were polite and gave us excellent service. We enjoyed every minute and highly recommend the hotel. One important comment - the hotel is less suitable for teenagers that need a lot of activities - Not enough activities for them.

Great kids Club and the most Friendly Staff
I would just like to mention Shelia, Rachel and Undine who run the kids club at the Elysium. My two boys 7 & 6 had great fun playing in the playgym, Lego and the floor mat game. They also went on an evening between 8-10pm and could play lots of different games and on some nights watch a movie, this gave the chance for myself and my husband to have a couple of drinks together knowing the children were safe and having the time of their life’s. All the staff round the hotel are amazing the guys down at the pool moving the sun beds are amazing and so friendly Andreas in particular my boys loved watching moving the umbrellas as they say he was like a super hero how quickly he could move them. Also Kiki at the pool bar who makes the most amazing milkshakes and would always great the boys with saying hello using their names and a smile.
Excellent Paphos hotel
Perfect location, great food and entertainment options. The hotel itself has a wonderful breakfast and various lunch and dinner options. The pools are great, staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, and made our stay extra special with wonderful touches. It happened to be our anniversary and my birthday whilst there, and on both occasions staff went out of their way to make it special for us/me. Rachel in the kids club (still there from out first visit over 7 years ago!) welcomed our little one and made him feel happy and secure. Highly recommended.
A home away from home
We have been staying at the Elysium since it first opened its doors many years ago and have seen the hotel go from strength to strength. Attention to detail, luxury, comfort, cleanliness, fresh food, attentive and friendly service are some of the never ending qualities in this hotel. We travel as a family of four with two children and our kids are always made to feel welcome and special. A special mention must go to Cynthia, she goes above and beyond to facilitate our requirements and always does the utmost to make us feel welcome and valued. From the moment you arrive at the beautiful grounds your relaxation can begin with a beautiful welcome drink and friendly welcoming service. We have never had a bad stay and I would never dream of staying anywhere else on the island. Thank you to Cynthia and the team for always being so amazing!!!
