Galaxy Villas

Wonderful hotel, attentive and friendly staff, spotlessly clean and lovely rooms. Shout out to Stefanos, who made us smile each day! Koutouloufari is a charming place with a great variety of smart bars, tavernas and restaurants.

Galaxy Suites was an excellent hotel. Firstly the staff were all super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our first night we didn’t arrive at the hotel until nearly midnight and they had been kind enough to leave us a selection of cold meats and cheeses in our room along with bread, this was really kind and certainly appreciated by us. The hotel is spotlessly cleaned and very well maintained. We were told it was refurbished 2 year ago and it certainly looks very new and well presented. The pool area has really comfortable loungers and we had no issue with getting one in late September. We went half-board and the food was consistently of a high standard, presented in a buffet style, dishes rotated nightly (both breakfast and dinner) and there was never a shortage of food. The hotel is located on the edge of 1 of 3 closely connected towns (all within walking distance and mostly flat), with the beach/sea/promenade being a 15 min walk downhill. It’s slightly steep on the way back up but not extreme. The town itself has a wide variety of shops, bars and restaurants and everyone we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a suite with a private pool, due to the weather we didn’t get too much use of it and in late September the loungers at our room didn’t get sun until 14:30 which was a shame. The room was spacious, furniture tasteful and bed very comfortable. The shower was nice and bathroom like the whole hotel was in great condition. The hotel is adults only and was quiet throughout our stay. There was entertainment (a singer) on Sunday and tradition folk music on Wednesday night, both were very good. My only negative is there isn’t much to do if the weather is poor, while you can sit in the area near the bar where food is served in the morning and night it’s not a place for lounging for more than an hour or so. The TV in the room also didn’t support airplay or casting but did have a few build in apps including prime.

Beautiful boutique hotel very tranquil environment. Modern Spacious, well equipped rooms. We had a sea view suit no47. Our room was ground level so flat levels and my mum & dads room was above no44, and was a staggered level so a few stairs. Our room had two balcony's one from the living room and one from the bedroom. The living room balcony has a view of other private pools and the sea. There is a coffee machine and you can just have hot water for tea too. There is a fridge and on arrival we had cakes, chocolates and a bottle of prosecco waiting for us all free. Water is replenished every day and there are dressing gowns and slippers, an iron steamer, safe and hair dryer that plugs in anywhere and is very good. I wouldn’t take one next time. The rooms are cleaned, beds are made and towels are replaced with fresh good quality towels every day, the maids are lovely. The hotel again is very clean and modern with three pools, one shallow pool, a middle sized pool for a dip and a bigger pool which was a nice size for a swim. There are steps but there are lifts too. The pool beds are modern luxury beds and there is a button on the parasol for waiter service, and a waiter comes round once a day with hors d'oeuvres. The pool beds can be reserved whilst you’re having breakfast but you can’t leave your towels down all day unattended as there is a 30 minute time allowance and if the towels are still down they’ll be removed. But there was only one day where we had to wait for a bed, we had breakfast late, 10am and there was no beds I think the idea is if you have a private pool or whirl pool you’ll stay on your terrace as there are roughly 30 beds round the pools and 57 rooms…. But no one is expected to do that I just assume that was the idea. Towels were left longer than 30 mins on the day we waited… The restaurant has indoor and outdoor under cover seating with a lovely view. The breakfast buffet is very nice with a nice range of breads, spreads, continental option, yoghurts, jams, pastries, hot food and juices. The waiters will serve you your drinks for breakfast. The staff are so lovely here all of them are so polite so helpful and very professional. Stefanos will make you feel very at home. We also had lunch from the menu which was very nice and we had drinks in the bar, the Femina white wine is lovely and you can pay or charge the bill to your room. I would stay at Galaxy again in a heart beat it is a stunning hotel and the staff are wonderful. We arrived late, 11pm and had slept on the plane so was quite hungry. There is a sports bar next door for food and drinks and the cook had stopped as it was 12pm when we got there but they was happy to make pizza’s or gyros, we then went on to the half note for a drink which we ended up in there as our last stop every night best bar in Koutouloufari, we ate in there a couple of times too, the food was really good. We can’t wait to return to Crete.
