Absolutely unacceptable for a supposed 4-star hotel – do not recommend

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely appalling and raised serious hygiene, pest control, maintenance, food, and health and safety concerns. For a supposed 4-star hotel, the standard was nowhere near acceptable.

The biggest issue was the cockroaches in our room. We found cockroaches inside the room, which is completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming to be 4-star. Finding cockroaches where you sleep and keep your belongings is extremely unhygienic and made us uncomfortable throughout our entire stay. There appeared to be no effective pest control whatsoever. We left our holiday covered in insect bites, which made the experience even worse. This is a serious hygiene and pest-control failure, not a minor inconvenience.

When we arrived, we also found underwear left behind by previous occupants, which was absolutely disgusting and clearly showed that the room had not been properly cleaned before our arrival.

The room itself was in terrible condition, with mould, rotten and broken furniture, holes in the walls, and general deterioration. There were also exposed electrical wires, creating an obvious and potentially dangerous health and safety hazard. When we tried to open the fridge, the entire door literally fell off.

The air conditioning barely worked, making the room extremely uncomfortable, particularly given the presence of insects. For a hotel in a warm climate, functioning air conditioning should be a basic requirement, not an added luxury.

Housekeeping was practically non-existent. The floors were filthy and looked as though they had not been properly cleaned in years. The bedding was not changed, and there was not even sufficient toilet paper provided. We had to repeatedly ask reception for basic supplies.

The common areas were equally unacceptable. The same rubbish bags were left in the hallways and on the staircase for our entire week-long stay. We had to step over them every time we used the stairs, creating an obvious trip and fall hazard and contributing to the already poor hygiene standards.

The food was also extremely disappointing. The same or very similar food was served day after day, with almost no variety throughout our stay. For a supposed 4-star hotel, we expected a much better selection and significantly more variety.

The pool experience was disappointing as well. The pool was only open from 10am to 6pm, which is extremely restrictive for a supposed 4-star hotel. Even worse, you had to pay €5 just to borrow a pool towel. Charging guests extra for something as basic as a pool towel feels particularly unreasonable for a supposed 4-star hotel.

Overall, this hotel fell far below any reasonable 4-star standard. Cockroaches, apparent lack of pest control, insect bites, mould, exposed electrical wiring, broken furniture, filthy floors, inadequate housekeeping, rubbish left throughout the hotel, poor air conditioning, repetitive food, restricted pool hours, and additional charges for basic facilities are simply unacceptable.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. We left the holiday covered in insect bites and extremely disappointed. I would strongly advise against staying here and would never return.

Please please ignore the bad reviews! We were so worried before we came but it has been amazing so far. When people are saying the standard rooms are “across the road” they are being extremely dramatic. The road is like 2 steps in width and right next to the pool bar.. also the standard rooms have everything you need and the air con works perfect. Pool area is gorg, drinks are good, staff are friendly.. the food is very tasty. We are still here and very happy with our stay so far 😊
