- Giannoulis Cavo Spada Luxury Sports and Leisure Resort

Situated directly on the blue flag sand and pebble beach, the family-friendly Cavo Spada Luxury Resort and Spa boasts marvellous views over the Gulf of Chania and the Cape Spada, from which it takes its name. Guests will appreciate the 1,700 m2, free-form lagoon-style pool as well as the fantastic spa area. Kolymbari is only a short stroll away, famous for the environmentally protected sea turtles that lay their eggs on the village's beach every summer. This elegant hotel is an ideal place for couples or families with children who wish to spend a holiday in luxurious surroundings.
This was genuinely one of the best All Inclusive hotels I have ever stayed in for customer service, food quality, and overall vibe. Location & Setting The resort is set in a very quiet area, roughly a 30-minute walk from the nearest town of Kolymbari. It features a private beach with a lifeguard on duty—while the beach itself is quite pebbly, the sea is crystal clear. Buses run regularly from the top of the road (just a 5-minute walk) to either Kolymbari or Chania, making local travel easy. We booked our trips independently, but the front desk can organise trips for you as well. Pool & Activities We spent most of our time at the main pool, which was family-friendly, never felt crowded, and always had plenty of space to swim. No matter what time of day we turned up, we easily found two available sunbeds. The resort organizes various sports activities throughout the day if you want to join in, with the morning aqua yoga being a huge guest favorite. Dining & Staff The food was phenomenal at every single meal with a huge variety—even my normally fussy 14-year-old son never struggled to find something he loved. The desserts, in particular, were out of this world! What truly sets this hotel apart, though, is the service. The bar staff and overall team were fantastic, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The complimentary bottled water available whenever you needed it was a lovely, thoughtful touch. Rooms & Amenities The rooms are a little dated, but they are kept spotless with daily housekeeping and fresh towels. The room fridge is also restocked with bottled water every day. A few helpful tips for future guests: Beach/Pool Towels: You can hire towels from the spa for a €10 refundable deposit and swap them for fresh ones daily. Spa & Crèche: We didn't use the spa or the small children's crèche, but both are available on-site. Local Tourist Tax: Be prepared for the standard 5-star hotel tax at checkout (€15 per person, per room, per night), which can add up to a significant amount at the end of your stay. It can be paid by cash or card. We had an unforgettable stay and wouldn't hesitate to return!
The resort was perfect for a relaxing getaway with the option of sport, fitness classes or just relaxing by the pool or beach. The morning yoga classes started my day of perfectly, the fitness instructors catered for every level & were fantastic. All of the staff were welcoming, helpful & friendly but a big shout out to the bar staff in the main bar & pool bar, they had time to chat to everyone & still keep the drinks flowing! Reception staff were so helpful with our needs especially when the winds nearly meant we missed our boat trip we had been looking forward to, they went above & beyond. Food was lovely, a good choice even for a vegetarian. Thank you all at Cavo Spada for making our stay wonderful ❤️
This hotel is absolutely amazing in every way! The staff is beyond generous and helpful. We are so greatful for everyone working there, receptionists, waiters, chefs, cleaners, bartenders and exercise trainers!! We were here for a week, but would have loved to stay longer! The food is amazing, the location by the beach, the pool and exercise area is the best I’ve ever experienced. It is easy to get around. We took the bus and also rented a car. The hotel had lots of things to attend like olive oil tasting, wine tasting, cooking classes, saxophone, dj and violin in the evening. They also have a nice and big spa area. We are coming back!!! So happy we got to stay here this summer!
This was our second visit to Cavo Spada and we were made to feel as welcome as our first stay. Front desk and senior management are always very helpful and facilitated a room request for us. The Hotel Manager and Restaurant Manager, again - very welcoming. The hotel is on low levels so feels spacious and open. It is not in the centre of a resort but a semi short walk to local sandy beach at Kolymbari. Main buffet restaurant covers a wide range of foods for all preferences and lots of choices for all meals. Always kept topped us and warm. Lovely set of five very well behaved and clean ginger kittens came to play with those interested in stroking them. We ate lunch at Sealine three times during our stay, service and food all excellent. Pool bar team are amazing, helpful and work so hard. King prawn saganaki was very good. We also ate at the Azzuro restaurant, great very luxurious food. Quite rich so go with an empty stomach. Main bar has some great characters and again excellent service. We watched the England World Cup games in the main bar and the atmosphere was pleasantly competitive, we were in the minority but all nationalities were great fun. The room was a good size and cleaned daily. Mini bar - not included in all-inclusive, but no big deal as can get everything from the bars. Love this hotel and glad we found it, already booked to come back next year!
We booked this hotel with Tui just a week before departure. We wanted a swim up room and this hotel certainly ticked that box. From the minute we arrived the staff were amazing. They entertained our 3 year old whilst we completed the check in process. Our bags were taken to our rooms for us which was very welcome after the flight and bus transfer. We had a swim up room off the main pool, it was very clean and exactly as hoped for. The pool was very quiet, as it was for the entire stay. It is as good as the photos suggest. We never waited more than a couple of minutes for a drink at the pool bar which was fantastic, the kids especially loved the iced coffee's. The atmosphere throughout the holiday was certainly relaxed. It didn't matter if you were in the pool, restaurants, bars or the beach. It always felt quiet. We never took up any of the sporting options although they looked great. We never ventured outside of the hotel so could not comment on the location of anything in the vicinity. We enjoyed the food and despite eating at different times most days found the restaurant to be quiet. There was certainly plenty of variety and our kids never complained. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and thought it was great value for money. We will be back here for sure.
Massive shout out to the staff, from the reception staff to the cleaners they were nothing short of fantastic. We have to say a special thank you to the gentleman in charge of the restaurant and Giorgos in the main bar who made our little boys holiday with how friendly they were
