- Kyknos Beach Hotel and Bungalows

The hotel is situated 32 km east of Heraklion airport between Malia and Stalida. Just 200 m from the entrance is one of Crete's most beautiful beaches. There is a bus station 150 m from the hotel, where there are buses going to Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos. Malia Town is 1 km away, Hersonissos is 8 km away, Heraklion is 35 km away and Agios Nikolaos is 25 km from the hotel.
The hotel consists of a main building and 6 bungalow buildings spread throughout the lush gardens, and has 134 rooms altogether. The main building features a friendly reception area, an elegant lobby, a dining room with a veranda overlooking the pool and a main bar. In addition, there are 2 lifts, and a free parking lot for guests, along with a children's playground and a small supermarket.
Guests can choose between a room in the main building or a bungalow. In the main building guests can enjoy the magnificent view of the pool and the Mediterranean sea, whereas in the bungalows guests are able to take advantage of the privacy, the peacefulness and the traditional architecture. All rooms (22-25mΒ² in size) have been recently renovated and tastefully decorated, and include a WC/bath, balcony or terrace, satellite TV-radio (18 channels), individual air conditioning, hairdryer, direct dial telephone, telephone in the bathroom, fridge and safe deposit box. Family suites (38mΒ² in size), accommodating up to 5 persons, are very elegant and modern, with 2 separate bedrooms and a large bathroom and also offer exactly the same amenities as the double rooms.
I had a wonderful and incredibly relaxing experience with the body scrub and body massage. The treatment was professional, soothing, and perfect for simply switching off and being pampered. Afterwards, my skin felt wonderfully soft and well cared for. I highly recommend it and will definitely be coming back. We also had a wonderful stay at this hotel resort and were completely satisfied. The room was beautiful, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was friendly and attentive. We were particularly impressed with the food as well everything was fresh, delicious, and prepared with great care and attention to detail. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that we would be very happy to recommend.
First and foremost, the overall holiday experience at Sentido was absolutely wonderful, however I am going to give as honest a review as I can.
From the moment we arrived, staff were courteous and friendly and checking in was straight forward. The reception area was immaculate, as were the inside seating areas, however there were guests on the sofas with their feet up on the upholstery, which didn't look great.
The rooms were clean and brightly decorated, but smaller that those we had seen when booking. As others have mentioned, the shower screen doesn't meet the floor, so the water would run under it and into the sink area. Our balcony was tiny - no room to actually sit out - and had a mountain view. This was lovely, but there was a car park beneath the balcony and a busy road between the hotel and the mountains. In hindsight, we could have asked to be moved, but the road noise didn't trouble us during the night and we only used the room for showering and getting ready other than that.
Our 3pm arrival meant we were too late for lunch, but there were fresh feta and salad wraps, fruit and cake near the bar to tide us over until dinner. These were frequently replenished.
The restaurant area was immaculate - the food options laid out beautifully, with a great choice, particularly the salads, Buddha bowls, meats and cheeses. The hot options were a bit hit and miss, many dishes aimed at German tastes. Replenishing of food items was very prompt. Drinks are self service with beer, wine and soft drinks on tap. Beer is good - best of the wine for me was the rose. The waiters and waitresses were delightful and very swift clearing away plates. Special mention to Mpia, who is very sweet and has a very lovely, infectious smile. βΊοΈ
The a la carte restaurant could only be booked once during our 14 day stay - it was nice enough and we were very well attended by Angel and Mariana. π Towards the end of our stay, we chose to have dinner at a local restaurant a few times, just to make a change.
As is always the case, sunbeds were snapped up quickly in the mornings and it was a case of 'If you can't beat them, join them'! The pool was always clean, however a few larger groups of younger men would, on occasion, take over half the pool playing ball games, which took away some enjoyment from an afternoon dip!
The pool bar staff were the most hardworking and friendly we have ever encountered on our travels. Tony, Joella, Julia, Crista and Leon made our evenings an absolute delight. Nothing was too much trouble. π₯° Sorry if I missed anyone out! π
The entertainment was ok - we very much enjoyed the DJ/saxophonist and the Mediterranean Night entertainment was a hoot, particularly in the company of a lovely bunch of Kentish folk we had the pleasure of meeting! Thank you, our Sandwich Shrimps if you ever read this!π
During our stay, 3 of our group of 4 had a couple of massages at the Spa - totally fabulous! Polina - what can I say! Such a delightful lady, with a dry sense of humour! π She remembered our names every time she passed us around the pool and stopped for a chat and a laugh. The masseuse, Sophia and Julia, were both excellent. βΊοΈ
Finally, we come to the legendary Nasos! Such a charming, thoughtful and caring gentleman! It was always a joy to see him around the hotel and bar. When I expressed my disappointment in there being no figs available in the restaurant, he was swiftly away to speak with a colleague and within minutes I was presented with 4 delicious, ripe figs from the colleague's garden! Such a lovely gesture. π₯° I eeked the figs out over my last few mornings to adorn my fruit and yogurt which appeared to amuse them! π
So, to conclude my review, the good very much outweighed the negatives and, should we re-visit that part of Crete, we would certainly have no hesitation staying at Kyknos Beach.
Thank you again to all the absolutely amazing staff at the hotel and wishing you all the very best for the future!
We had a lovely 1 week stay. Perfect location with lots near by (shops, restaurants, bars, beaches, car/quad bike hire).
Our bedroom was cleaned daily. Hotel was very clean and staff were always friendly.
There was a wide range of different foods with vegetarian options too. The food was always hot and absolutely delicious.
We rented a quad one day from the rental place next door to the hotel for an absolutely reasonable price (the owners were lovely too!) and went up into the mountains.
We would definitely come back again. Was the perfect couples holiday.
My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kyknos Beach. The location is great- walkable to several beaches in 10ish minutes and lots of local shops. There was definitely atmosphere but equally peace and relaxation. A highlight was our spa treatment. Sofia was excellent when providing my body scrub, mask and full body massage; would definitely recommend. The rooms are a good size and the cleanliness was excellent- clean towels and bedding provided at your request but otherwise changed regularly. We had a room with a garden view and were not disturbed by noise at all, not even the evening music if we came back to the room slightly earlier. Personally, we really enjoyed the food. There was a great range and while allergy information isnβt displayed to my knowledge, it was accommodating. The overall attentiveness and friendliness of the staff was incredible- a particular mention for Stella. It was definitely good value for money.
Sciatica massage - Sofia was fabulous. Very attentive to all the right areas, (knowledge of a good Masseur) spending time massaging with the right pressure. Very good massage - Would highly recommend!
