No way is this a 5* hotel. It’s showing its age & is in need of updating & general refurbishment. Food is good but the dining experience has been very average so far. You can’t even book a restaurant for dinner as they are booked in advance by people who are not even on site yet! The pools are not very clean and nearly all of them have algae around the edges & this is not acceptable as this biofilm carries e-coli & other nasty bacteria. Pools are freezing cold too. There are better hotels than this and this was not cheap. Expected a lot better. Bungalow room is a good size but some other basic rooms look too small. However you can pay more for a suite but I wouldn’t bother. We will not be back.
While I have been here before in 2018, my husband and I came back this year for our honeymoon since it had been such a special place the last time. We still had an amazing time and the hotel grounds are so beautiful, but it’s clear to see the areas in which it’s also gone quite downhill, especially for the huge cost to visit.
Where previously, the staff couldn’t do enough for you, you’re now lucky to receive 1 or 2 drinks a day through the pool service. The bar tenders also don’t seem to be in much of a rush to serve people - we visited out of peak holidays and still sometimes had to wait 10-15 minutes for a drink at any given time. This obviously isn’t the kind of thing to ruin a holiday, but when you’re paying so much for a 5 star hotel, it does start to get annoying.
The buffet restaurant was sub-par in our experience, having been to other cheaper 5 star hotels in Greece and experiencing a much better quality of food and much wider choice. The speciality restaurants do admittedly serve amazing food, and it’s a big plus that you can have as many visits as you want, but we randomly experienced extremely sub-par service in one of the Greek restaurants one evening, which left us waiting an hour and a half for just our starters.
The lack of any sort of music or atmosphere around the pools was also a downside, and led us to spend a lot of time at the beach, which was lovely and the service was much better, but isn’t somewhere usually lean towards spending our time.
On the bright side, the majority of the staff were quite polite, the hotel grounds are amazing, and a lot of the food in the speciality restaurants for dinner / brunch was outstanding. The rooms were also very clean and stocked daily with inclusive drinks which was a nice touch.
I was extremely excited to return after my original visit, but after this experience, I definitely wouldn’t look to come back. As I say, none of the downsides are anywhere near enough to ruin a holiday, and we still had a nice time in lovely surroundings, but for the price this isn’t anywhere near worth it in my opinion.
Amazing hotel!
The Pita Giros on the beach is our go to and is always so so yummy!!!
Mist of the staff are so helpful, friendly and happy to assist you in anyway
We had the South American restaurant tonight, and our waiter, Fotini, was amazing - we had her a few nights now and she has been a lot of help, very friendly and lovely.
