Providing the ideal setting for a memorable Greek vacation, this hotel is located just 200 metres from the sea in Tigaki and 11 kilometres from the capital city of Kos. In addition to the blue waters and the white sands of the beautiful nearby beach, guests can also take a dip in the swimming pool, complete with a children's paddling area and a poolside snack bar. For the more active vacationers, table tennis is also available, as well as bicycles for rent. After a full day of sun and fun, the private balconies with views of the garden are an excellent place for a refreshing drink under the caress of the breeze.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Where do I start? This week has been an amazing week, made even more special by the wonderful people at Tropical Sol.
We started our stay with a lovely young lady at the front desk, Katerina. She made such a fuss of my 5-year-old daughter, helped us with our bags to our room, taught my daughter how to say our room number in Greek, and gave us such a lovely welcome to the hotel.
All week, everyone who works at the hotel has been nothing short of wonderful.
Yanni, who runs the pool bar, works so hard to make sure everyone is happy. On our second morning, my daughter wanted a slushy, but the machine wasn't ready yet, so we went out for the day. When we came back, Yanni came running over with a free slushy for her, saying, "I've been looking for you all day! Your slush is ready!" He spent the whole week making sure she was happy. He would run to the other bar to get chocolate ice cream for her milkshake when he had run out at his bar and find other ways to be extra kind whenever he could.
Then there was another lady at the front desk, who we found out on our last day was also called Katerina. She is a wonderful woman who took time out of her day to talk to us and my daughter. We talked about how kind the people of Greece are, and she told us to look up the word "philanthropia", saying that it is part of the DNA of Greek people.
She was right. The people of Greece are amazing, generous and considerate, and the people of Tropical Sol are a perfect example of this.
On our last day, we found out that the young Katerina had left. My daughter had drawn her a picture and was very sad that she wouldn't get to say goodbye. The other Katerina saw how sad she was, so she called the young Katerina and asked her to come back to see my daughter before we left, so that she could give her the picture. And she did!
Not only that, but she brought my daughter a small present as a thank you. I have never visited a country where I have met so many wonderful people, and we already can't wait to come back.
My daughter also drew pictures for the other Katerina and Yanni. Katerina told her that she would even keep her picture in a special place in her home. Such a small thing, but it made my daughter so happy. She is going to remember this holiday forever.
The hotel was clean, the location was perfect, the food was great with a variety of options every day. Admittedly my daughter was sad on the days they didn't have mini pancakes out, but she quite happily settled for chocolate spread on toast! I would say the toasters are a bit slow, but we discovered using the toastie press was a lot faster and easier as long as no one was waiting to use it. You don't hear the noise of the clubs on the street at night once you shut the balcony door. The only noise issue we had was noisy neighbours running up and down the hall on our last two nights, but that was just because of other guests being inconsiderate. The rooms were perfect for what we needed, towels were refreshed regularly during the week and the bins were emptied daily.
My daughter also named the cat that sits at the bottom of the stairs every morning, "Fight Girl" because she looks like she's been in a lot of fights. She was very sad to be leaving her and hopes everyone gives her a quick scratch behind her remaining ear on their way to breakfast for her.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone at Tropical Sol. You made our week incredibly special, and we truly hope to come back again one day. You all work so hard, and it really shows. Thank you for making our holiday so wonderful.
Stayed 10 nights with family :-3 kids . Was slightly nervous before we arrived reading some reviews. Rooms were small especially when 3 sharing triple , bathrooms were tiny but did the job. The decor in the rooms and around the hotel was more modern than I expected considering some reviews. The rooms and hotel are very clean and the staff work hard at breakfast . The breakfast was pretty basic, not much fruit , mainly eggs and breads , it did the job not that we expected full on English breakfast though but could be better as things ran out at times and were not always replaced even 30 minutes before it finished, fresh coffee was great ! Pool was ok, probably one of the bigger pools compared to some of the hotels but a bit dated. We were looking forward to meeting Terri who ran the pool bar from previous reviews. However, he’s moved on and it looks like new staff running things with limited food menu and 4€ for a small beer seemed steep when you can get a large beer or 500ml bottle in the bars for a similar price, this encouraged us to use the beach more and go elsewhere for lunch. Tigaki itself was great, plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from and a fabulous beach . All in all I’d return to Tigaki but maybe try another hotel nextime .
I wasn’t expecting a great deal from this hotel as it’s 3* cheap week away for me and my son but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.
The room was basic (very small) but had everything you need, fridge, hairdryer nice big bed & a balcony, enough storage space and lots of hangers. The shower pressure was great. My only criticism of the accommodation is that shower curtains are dated now. Could easily make the bathroom into a wet room or at least have a shower screen instead.
The pool area was really nice, big pool and great pool bar. Tan is the bar man was super friendly and helpful, made great cocktails and the cook was lovely. My son is a picky eater and there was plenty on the menu for him, hot dogs, toasties, burgers, as well as salads, omelettes, giros, pizza etc.
Breakfast was also surprisingly fine. Section of breads and jams, chocolate spread, marmalade & honey , continental section, cereal section, pastries, and a sort of English section of scrambled eggs, fried eggs, boiled eggs and either bacon or Greek sausage alternative days. Great for a 3 star I thought.
The hotel itself self is very clean and the gardens are well cared for. The staff were amazing, friendly and very understanding of my son’s SEND needs. Room cleaned daily.
Location It is in a perfect position and really close to the beach. There are loads of restaurants and supermarkets right on your doorstep, you could eat for a fortnight and not eat in them all. There is a bus stop opposite hotel to Kos town. 2.5 euros in about 20 mins.
Stephanos at tigaki rentals rented us a car for the day to go around the island.
The beach at tigaki is lovely soft sand but it is windy there and so if there is a lot of wind the sea is rough and so why we hired a car and went to the east on the really windy days. Sun loungers are expensive but we found kings beach bar don’t charge if you eat and drink there. We do pay and go to Paron one day but it’s expensive unless you plan on staying all day.
Recommend going to Mylos for lunch on Lambi beach too.
Overall great stay for a cheap week away. Would recommend.
Stayed 7 nights in this hotel we arrived in the early hours of the morning the man on reception was very polite and patient he took us to our room and showed us around it then left us to enjoye next morning we went to reception to see about getting a taxi into koss town the laddies on reception were very nice and friendly even the cleaners were very polite they had me saying good morning in greek the bar staff and the cook were amazing we had some great laughs just a pitty we had to come home but we have booked to go back next year me and my husband loved it
Nice 3 star hotel right on strip bit dated in places rooms are spotlessly clean and ground's kept very well very quiet and relaxing place However the down side is there's only one draft beer. As we were on our way home we were asked to pay for safety box my wife did pay for this in cash but did not receive a receipt. I'm not hard up for £20 euro but it's annoying when you have already paid, so I paid again for it lesson learned always ask for receipt, don't give cash pay by card. We have since learned that this has happened before. The front of house staff were arguing in front of us not very professional, I do hope they read this as the last day of holiday was terrible and stressful .
