Mitsis Rodos Maris Resort and Spa

We have stayed with Mitsis before in Kos and decided to rebook with the same chain. It’s a beautiful place, absolutely no doubt in that. Great facilities, views and various foods for different tastes. The beach set up seems good but doesn’t open as advertised in high season and only one person serving drinks, so there’s always a queue. There is one pool bar for the whole place with ONE member of staff serving in the middle of August, so best believe you’re queuing for your drink, snacks and ice creams. Kids being told they can’t have any more drinks on more than one occasion even when it’s their first drink. Snappy staff that are over worked and under pressure to work such long hours. The dining room was heaving so again, you queue to get in, queue for food and a plate possibly for there to be none left of what you wanted. Having said that, the food was great and tasty. You’re able to book at the Al La Carte restaurants. These fill up fast so you’re pushed for choice. More than one occasion I was ignored at the dining room when queuing with my children and staff chose to speak to a male guest in another party.

The pool areas are cleaned every morning and presented well. The communal areas are beautiful. Entertainment variable but good nonetheless. Evening bar is very busy, so guess what, you have to queue. Only one waitress taking drinks orders who is so pressed you only see her once an hour if at all. I comment on the queues because having stayed with Mitsis before, in comparison there were no queues and we were treated like guests as if nothing was too much. No cocktails at some bars, no coffee at others. Staff sighing at your drink choice probably due to the length of their shift with very little relief. The staff seem to have honestly had enough by 6PM and you’re almost scared to ask for anything else.

Plenty of shops in the complex and a small row including pharmacy and cafes over the road too with a few more down the road.

All in all we have had a lovely stay but the queues have really taken the mick. We’re talking 25-35 minutes to get a drink. Without the queues it’s certainly 4/5.

My wife, two children and I have just come back from Mitsis Rodos Maris and did have a lovely time. Is it perfect? no. Is it 5*? Questionable. Is it a very welcoming village complex with wonderful staff and a great atmostphere... absolutely.

What I didn't like...

• The food is a bit samey, there are various options but you can only book each a la carte restaurant once per trip and that can be hard to do becuause of availability. They also don't make it really obvious what your options are. The pool bar for example, the menu only offers drinks, however, they do serve hot dogs and cheese toasties. The beach has a lot more to offer in terms of varierty but unless you stumble across it, it's not really mentioned around the hotel.

The room was comfortable, albeit a bit dated... we kept flooding the bathroom as the shower was very powerful and didn't stay pointing down. No massive dramas though.

Lastly, it was a bit noisy at night sometimes... I appreciate that this is very much part of the culture in these places but we were in room 803 and you could very much hear the evening entertainment going on to 11pm... there are no early nights here.

What I did like...

The staff! Incredible.. They were so welcoming and friendly, the entertainment team in particular, they'd come and say hi round the pool, you'd frequently be invited to join in with aqua gym, darts, water polo, volleyball etc without any pressure to join if you didn't want to. The restaraunt staff were attentive and especially in the a la carte, nothing was too much trouble. One guy who's name I particularly remember, Diego... I don't think I saw him not smiling once in the entire week we were there. Evalina? Again, so friendly and inclusive of everyone.

The evening entertainment was great, especially the comedy night..I think lead by Adam?.. it was hilarious. very well done when you have so many different cultures to cater to, the magician was also very very good. Children are very well looked after and certainly not an after thought.

The pool was great, although it can be a bit of pain to get a sunbed as people put their towels out, it wasn't too bad.. perhaps they could be a bit more vigilent with people putting their towels down and disappearing for the day but most guests were considerate enough.

The resort was mostly kept clean, there's not a huge amount you can do when guests decide to just drop their rubbish around the pool but most stuff was cleared away quite quickly.

Would I go again... maybe...

not because of the hotel, I'd probably just like to try somewhere else but I certainly wouldn't avoid it.

After many years to Rhodos Village this year our summer holiday trip was to the Maris because we are most of the time at the beach and we had a very good deal with direct booking on the Mitsis site. We had a front row beach bungalow, the room was not the newest but good bed and very clean and a nice view. The renewed beach is amazing ! Loved the beanbags and the different trucks with food and drinks. Most of the meals we had in the buffet restaurant. Plenty of choices and never had a problem to find something as a picky eater. We recommend the brunch a la carte, nice atmosphere and many thanks for the birthday cake and bubbles. After lunch or back from the beach it was lovely to eat an icecream undef the huge tree, it does not feel you are in a hotel. In the evening plenty of places to have a seat to play a game but sometimes the music in thd lobby bar was too loud. We have seen most of the shows but for us was Rock Band Encore our favourite. Overall we had an amazing time thanks to all the friendly and hardworking staffmembers and the good vibe everywhere in the hotel . It is easy to take the local bus or book an excursion from the hotel. Only comment from me is that the pools are very deep as i am not a go swimmer. Thzanks for another great time where we made our new stories.
