- Meandros Boutique and Spa Hotel

Meandros boutique & Spa has been modernly designed with wall mural representations of Greek gods, combined with touches of Greek elements and minimalistic decor, creating a relaxing adult only experience. Each of the contemporary 46 spacious rooms features modern facilities consisting of 11 private pool rooms, 3 rooms with private hot tub, 11 suites and 21 premium rooms with unique character. A boutique hotel that balances details from the past with playful public spaces proves that the new rules of chic are simplicity with a clean and modern sense of ease. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and right next to the sea, this alluring hotel boasts a prime location in the heart of Kalamaki, a beautiful beach resort on the island of Zakynthos. The establishment is situated close to Zakynthos International Airport and Laganas Beach is just a 10-minute drive away. Travellers can find many restaurants and bars in the surrounding area, where they can taste authentic local specialities. The on-site restaurant offers a combination of regional and international dishes in an elegant ambiance, which can be enjoyed in a buffet style. No holidays are fulfilled without spending a relaxing time by the swimming pool, while sipping a refreshing drink or snacking on something delicious.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Only 10 minutes drive from the airport and 10 minutes walk to the beach. Plenty of shops and restaurants surround the hotel. Hotel is clean and quiet. Definitely not a 5* hotel though, 4* at a push. Arrival drink was a local tea, but an Ouzo or glass of bubbly would have been a nicer touch. The cold towel on arrival was nice. We arrived and completed the check in form by 2pm, we were told our room was ready but we have to pay 10 euros if we want to access it straight away. Asking for money because the room is available early is bad customer service, 10 euros to get in an hour early is shocking! I wonder if all these extra payments are declared. We had been up since 2:30am so grudgingly paid just to get some rest asap. Room (112) was spacious and clean. Balcony was tiny! Just enough room for a table and 2 chairs, situated on the ground floor right on the main walkway between most rooms and main area of hotel/restaurant/pool - so there were constant people walking past, no privacy to sit there and relax while staring at the high fence that faced onto us. After the 2nd night I asked to be moved as it was affecting my enjoyment of the holiday. We got moved to room 204 which had a much better balcony, a lot more space, looking on to a quiet garden area, and privacy to sit and relax there. Sunbeds always available when we were there, only the odd person would reserve with towels and not be there most of the time. It was handy to have pool towels provided, although they were quite old looking and a bit worn. Food was average and lukewarm, not much traditional Greek foods daily which was a disappointment. Waiting staff were great, friendly, quick service and used plates removed almost immediately. Night time entertainment is lacking and would be nice, only thing that happens is the Greek night which has dancing but only lasts a couple of hours during dinner. The food at the Greek night was very nice and lots of variety, which is what we expected every day to be honest. No decaf tea or coffee available in the restaurant or our room. I have a heart condition so cannot have caffeine. I asked reception on the 1st morning and she said she would try and get some, this never happened. My husband emailed them before we went to ask if there was anything that could be offered to make our stay a bit more special as it was my birthday and our wedding anniversary during our stay. They didnt reply until after we were there, the day before my birthday, advising that reception can help with this such as sparkling wine, flowers etc. We had already made other plans and ate out-with the hotel. To be honest I wasn't impressed with the beach at Crystal Beach Hotel which is the closest one to walk to, it is quite small and crowded so not very relaxing. There were no toilet facilities or showers either. Although we had drinks at the hotel bar there and it was a lovely view (we went back one evening for dinner and it was stunning). We ended up doing a longer walk to a further away beach(around 25 minutes) to Billys Sunbeds which had a lovely thick mattress and were so comfortable, there is also a toilet, showers and a snack bar which was very reasonably priced for food. There is nothing terrible about the hotel, but there is nothing amazing about it either so if you want a luxury 5* break don't stay here. If you want a really nice average break this hotel is perfect.
We expected Meandros Boutique Hotel and Spa to be special and it was. All the staff were so friendly, helpful and extremely polite. Of particular mention should be Rizlyn who was so lovely and happy, and who kept our room beautifully clean and made wonderful towel animals to greet us on our return! Rhina in the restaurant always greeted us with a lovely smile and made wonderful Greek coffee for us. The swimming pool area was fantastic - always clean and tidy. There were always sun beds available and what was particularly good was that the music (which was not intrusive at all) came on when the pool bar opened at noon. I do think they are missing a trick though not opening the bar earlier as we like to have a coffee or drink mid-morning and a lot of people went out to local shops to get drinks then who would probably have bought them from the hotel. Food was buffet style and delicious with a fabulous choice of hot and cold breakfast offerings, and themed evening dinner buffets with both hot and cold food. Lunchtime meal choices at the pool bar were good, and portions were excellent. Location was super; handy for the bus, shops, bars and restaurants and a short walk to Kalamaki beach. Thank you to all at Meandros Hotel for a fabulous holiday - we would not hesitate to recommend you and hope to re-visit before too long.
This is a truly fantastic hotel. It is in such a prime location, a short walk to the beach and only a 10 minute drive from the airport. It has such a calming and relaxed atmosphere which helps you to fully switch off. The whole hotel is based on Greek mythology which shows how proud they are of being Greek. My partner and I stayed in room 108 and it was lovely, very clean (the housekeeping team do a fantastic job!). The private pool was such an amazing benefit!! It is so well priced especially if you go for a Deluxe Suite with Private Pool!! The one thing that makes this hotel stand out amongst others is the staff working there. In particular the restaurant waiting staff. They are super super friendly and always had a massive smile on their face. The food is absolutely incredible and I loved the fact that it is a different theme each night. I highly recommend this hotel and will be looking to book another stay there very soon!!
Just returned from this hotel and had a great stay , we did book a poll room and were disappointed that it faced the steps leading to the pool , we did ask to be moved and we were given room 102 i think, which faced the garden at the rear of the hotel and was superb . We were on half board basis and food was good and always something to have although a bit miss matched at times but cannot complain . The hotel itself is spotless and very well kept and staff very pleasant, big shout to Ian the concierge who always offered suggestions and information on were to go and what to do around the island , what a pleasant person. The area is off the main strip and has such a different vibe of restaurants and cocktail bars , try the cave bar opposite , a little buggy takes you up the road and the place and views are amazing .If you want a bit more lively then left out the hotel then left at the roundabout takes you to the more lively strip ( 10 min walk away ) One recommendation to the hotel is the sunbeds around the pool need updating as they are uncomfortable after a while and fells like lying on metal bars and could do with spacing out as they are packed together , no sunbed wars when we were there and always some available , some towels out early but not many thankfully . Overall a great stay and a great place and we would definitely return , we have recommend this hotel to friends who have booed for next year.
The hotel is in a great location between the old quieter strip (recommended) and the newer noisy strip (once was enough).
All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and polite.
The room was spacious and modern and kept clean daily by Rizlyn who was always polite, friendly and helpful. The fridge was stocked with a mini-bar but Rizlyn emptied it so that we could use it for our own drinks. The air-con was effective and quiet at night. The tv had several channels in English and a Greek channel showing all of the world cup football. The room could have been furnished with more drawers - we only had 2.
The breakfast selection was vast - you'd have to be fussy to not find something here that you'd like.
The pool area was cleaned daily. The sunbeds were very close together, too close but we used end pairs and moved them to suit us. We had lunch at the pool bar every day - the portions were generous.
We didn't go half-board so can't comment on the evening meals. The upgrade at under £10pppn seemed good value but we like to eat out in a taverna and there are several nearby.
We would very likely come back here.
