This hotel is situated in a wonderful quiet area on the island overlooking the picturesque Porto Zoro Bay. The beach is 500 m away, the centre of Vasilikos is 2 km away, whilst the airport and Zante, where the main harbour is to be found, are approximately 9 km away.
The beach hotel comprises two buildings in a style typical and traditional for the island architecture. The buildings are connected to each other by a tiled corridor. The hotel is surrounded by olive trees and comprises a total of 53 rooms. Facilities in the hotel include a lobby with a reception, hotel safe, 2 bars (one inside and one outside) as well as a dining room. There is a playground for younger guests and room service is additionally available.
The rooms are simply decorated yet are aesthetically pleasing and luxurious at the same time enjoying charming views over the sea and surrounding mountains. They all come with an en suite bathroom, a direct dial telephone, satellite TV, air conditioning, central heating and a fridge.
There is a swimming pool with a children's pool in the outdoor complex.
Bed and breakfast stays may be booked by guests.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Wonderful hotel with great food Very clean hotel with great staff
How this hotel is rated 4 star is a mystery. There are several areas which really let it down especially when it comes to the food. The restaurant itself is very small and can get quite busy and at times it was difficult to find a clean table. Tables were not pre laid so you had to collect cutlery, glasses, plates etc when you sat down which reminded me of a school canteen.
There was a real shortage of cups-they only seemed to have about 15 so if you went into breakfast after about 8am you stood no chance of getting a cup and had to wait for previous guests to leave and for the cups to be washed up before you could have cup of coffee. There were also no cups in the rooms so although they had tea and coffee facilities in the room you couldn’t use them as there were no cups.
The food was mediocre with very little choice. One evening they had spaghetti but with no sauces! Another night they had fish fingers as the fish of the day. On the Sunday night they were advertising Greek night and we thought oh good we might actually have some nice Greek food but alas there was no Greek food at all in fact one of the dishes was Mexican enchiladas. There was a Chinese night one night but the food was completely bland with no flavour whatsoever.
The hotel advertised a snack bar at the pool but this only served drinks and no food at all.
The pool bar which was the only bar available used disposable plastic glasses both day and night. Whilst I appreciate that plastic glasses are preferred during the day around the pool I do expect in a 4 star hotel to have proper glasses in the evening.
The pool area was nice with great views across the hills and down to the sea and the pool was very warm. However there were only 29 sun beds around the pool which is not many considering there are 64 rooms so most sun beds were taken by 8am so you needed to be up early to nab one.
The room was ok with a decent sized bathroom although the shower had no door so the shower water went everywhere and soaked the bathroom floor.
Whilst the views from the hotel were lovely the hotel was very remote with no shops or restaurant in the vicinity and also no paths, so you had to walk on the road the whole time which was very busy. There was a small beach just down a steep hill from the hotel but it wasn’t at all nice so the next nearest beach was Porto Zorro about a 25 minute walk from the hotel which was nice but very busy and the sun beds were €40 for 2 beds and an umbrella which was a bit steep.
Despite the issues I have listed above we did have a good holiday and the staff at the hotel were all very friendly but we wouldn’t return to this hotel.
Definitely not 4 stars hotel, old and worn out, far from the beach, 500m there is a wild beach, no way to spend your time there. You must walk to Porto Zoro beach , 15 min walk on a dangerous street without sidewalks. It's worthless all inclusive package and stick to all meals while you are supposed to travel for the beach.
