When you really want to get away from it all, the Ramla Bay Resort is an ideal destination. With its own 350 metre stretch of coastline, it occupies a secluded spot on the northern coast. It all feels very exclusive and when you're sipping a long, cool drink on the private sandy beach you'll appreciate just what a special resort this is.
Exclusivity doesn't mean being cut off from the rest of the island though. Not a bit of it. Mellieha is nearby– a charming hilltop village – and a popular destination for sightseers. Further along the coast, you'll find more fantastic beaches and places to explore.

There's a moment in every good holiday when you really start to relax. Sometimes it only happens a day or two before you're going home. At the Ramla Bay Hotel, it usually comes very quickly. With its superb facilities, enviable location and out-of-the-way exclusivity it's easy to give in to the feeling and relax completely.
So it's a good thing the accommodation is so conducive to relaxing. It's fair to say that the rooms are larger than average. All rooms feature a balcony/terrace. Rooms at the Ramla Bay Resort are complete with en-suite bathroom, hairdryer, air conditioning, flat-screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone and free Wi-Fi. Your room also includes a complimentary safe, ironing facilities, pool towels, and a mini bar stocked once upon arrival. Seaview rooms are available at a supplement.
As well as the splendour of its own private beach (May to October), the Ramla Bay Hotel features three outdoor pools and an indoor pool; they also run outings to the local watersports centre. In addition, you can play a quick game of tennis, tone up in the gym, followed by a spa treatment or a visit to the snack bar.

4 star hotel - 3 star experience
Our first visit to Malta and we were looking forward to staying at Ramla Bay Resort. It does seem to be the best the island can offer. There were niggly little details that meant the overall experience wasn't quite 4 star. On arrival (past midnight) we were given a long printed list of the resorts restaurant's and other facilities, along with their opening times etc. A lot to take in after a delayed flight and nothing to eat. We had to prompt the guy on reception to give us the 'Vouchers' for our first night's half board meal. As it was the long list was a waste of time. They shut the Terramare restaurant from the Monday evening, so we were left with eating at the noisy, chaotic, Canteen-like Solaris restaurant in the evening's instead. We had booked a Superior Sea view, with a member of our party a few doors away as they had a 'Garden' view. Our room had the most enormous balcony, overlooking the hotel's beach and to the side the 'garden' which is still undergoing a Facelift. The birthday of a member of our party was completely ignored - I was hoping that there would be something to mark the occasion as it has been mentioned here and on social media as a 'thing' they do. The bed was very comfortable, the room has a useful tiny fridge, a coffee machine and pods/tea bags, a safe, good A/C and a proper wardrobe and a walk-in shower in the massive bathroom. An initial complimentary water bottle was welcome - but then many plastic bottles of water were purchased. Perhaps the hotel might consider offering Water bottle filling stations on each floor to support their claim they are working on sustainability ? It all just lacked attention to detail. Sachets of hair/body gel (that were a nightmare to open with wet fingers) and tiny bars of soap are left each day. It might be more sustainable to have bottles in the shower that can be refilled? Or take your own, as we did. The curtains could do with an inner layer to draw across to stop mossies and insects coming into the room, when using the outdoor furniture. I ended up with 10 mosquito bites, so take some insect repellent with you. We saw a Cockroach on our third floor balcony and a few ants, but these weren't an issue for us. However, the floor of the bedroom and bathroom were not mopped over all week, my white slippers were filthy by the end of the week and ended up in the bin. The beach end of the hotel is perfect for those who like snorkelling in the sea. The outdoor adult pools were lovely and a good depth at 1.4 m. The initial glossy appearance of the indoor Spa pool was let down by the green algae on the pool steps and the Jacuzzi and Showers were cold. We had cocktails in each of the bars and by far the best and friendliest staff were at the outdoor cocktail bar by the beach. We hired a car and found the hotel's car park is in need of resurfacing, with large ruts and stones that need to be negotiated along with the rubbish and cat poo decorating the edges. A stark and disappointing contrast to the gloss of the hotel foyer and the amazing indoor gardens. Although the hotel is celebrating it's 60th Anniversary and was redesigned to give an undeniable Wow factor, maybe the reopening within the last year was a little rushed ?
First time in Malta, but certainly won’t be the last.

Overall great stay, would go back.
Great location if you want a relaxed stay away from the hustle and bustle. Own private beach, private coral swimming spots and 3 outdoor pools. Rooms were exceptional, bed really comfy and staff so good at cleaning everyday. Overall staff were amazing and so welcoming. A big shout out to Acezelle who was a ray of sunshine from our first night, right up until our last (2 week stay). She made us feel so welcome and remembered the finer details. A thank you to Shortiful Bhim as well who always had friendly chat and attentive. The Italian restaurant on site is one of the best Italian restaurants I've ate in and the staff were always so welcoming and accommodating. Buffet breakfast was amazing, loads of options. Bus stop a short walk away.
A few little items I think need improvement to make the hotel even better. On our evening check in, staff appeared distracted on the front desk and were answering calls as we were checking in, risk of giving off a bad first impression. The pictures on the website of the gym do not reflect it, badly needs renewal of gym mats and the multipurpose gym equipment need a service.
Overall we had a great stay and would go back.
End of September break
All in all the hotel is good. Family of 4 with two young children 2 and 4 they enjoy the pools and beach of course will be better if they had some children slides in the pool will be better. We went to melinha beach by bus and very easy as bus stop is near the ferry side and there is also a little shop there where we bought water for cheap price as they don’t provide complimentary water in rooms. Weather was ok we spent 4 nights here and 1 of the days was hot but on our last day still no sunshine at 2pm hopefully come out later.
Some things to note : all pools outside are salt water with the middles pool being least salt l, kids still enjoy but my 2 year likes to swim under water and of course wasn’t keen so swam in indoor pool so he can swim under water. Also all pools have a hole on the side and my son lost his armband and it went down the hole so any small toy can easily be lost. Shame we didn’t know in advance that can happen. Also the pools are cold when you initially go in but after that it’s fine.
