Amazing Malta
We were warmly welcomed by friendly staff on reception. The hotel is on a steep hill on the busy main road, but has a bus stop just outside. We used a BoltUber every day and the bus! (So good idea to get a 7day bus pass!) We had a superior room but i would call it standard. ,small for our famiy of 3. The small balcony could just get 2chairs on it, we could hear constant dragging of downstairs furniture and ,outside the blowing of aircon fans, i should've upgraded. Being end of corridor, we could hear constant doors opening and closing. Room cleaned and fresh towels every day which was nice to come back to after a day out! The room was comfortable. The food was fabulous, all freshly cooked, plenty of variety and the restaurant hosts different spice nights. Beautiful rooftop pool, perfect for a dip later on after a hot day sightseeing, cocktails brought to your lounger. The young waiter and waitress up on the TopDeck were fantastic and served our drinks&cocktails into the evening. Can be quite costly as no other bars were open due to the end of season. The bar&pool area constantly being cleaned. Dawa who dealt with a noisy neighbour quickly and efficiently, he would always make time to speak to all the guests, everyone is so friendly here.
Great Hotel
I could easily give the Solana five stars, but there were some minor issues which are probably nit picking but I can't completely ignore. Firstly, although draft beer is available on the rooftop bar, only bottled or canned beer is available in the lobby bar. Secondly, it seems the hotel policy that when ordering from the lobby bar that you can't wait for your drinks to be poured. It must be delivered to your seat. I don't think that is a good use of the barman's time. Thirdly, the lobby is very large with a lot of waisted space which should be altered by installing toilets closer to the lobby bar and restaurant. Currently the toilets are a fare hike away.
Our bedroom was large and comfortable and the shower was easy to use and powerful. We don't watch any TV when on holiday so not a problem for us but the TV in the room was quite small. The sun beds were apparently new and were quite comfortable and the rooftop pool provides spectacular views for those who are not scared of heights. Breakfast is okay, but the cooked items could be warmer and the fried eggs in particular could be made more to order rather than having two dozen eggs getting cold in a tray. We were bed and breakfast but the main restaurant is good and serves wine freely so half or full board may give very good value. There are three supermarkets within fifty yards. We used the one across the road to the left which was well stocked. Finally, the staff were pleasant and helpful with a special mention for Aniket in the lobby bar.

Amazing stay!
We had such a wonderful stay at Solana hotel in the heart of Mellieħa! From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and well looked after. One of our favourite memories was sitting together in the evening after a day of exploring Malta, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and reflecting on everything we had seen that day. It was one of those simple moments that made the whole trip feel truly special. The location is fantastic, right in the centre of Mellieħa, with lovely restaurants, cafés, shops, and local attractions all within easy reach. Our room was clean, comfortable, and cosy, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We will remember the warm hospitality, the relaxing atmosphere, and the wonderful moments we enjoyed here. It really felt like a home away from home. Thank you for making our stay in Mellieħa so enjoyable and memorable. We would happily return and highly recommend this hotel!

Not a relaxing experience
The Solana Hotel itself is a lovely hotel, spacious with lots of seating areas, plenty of sunbeds by the pool and there is a good selection at breakfast. The only thing that lets it down is the inane incessant music which I presume is supposed to be background music unfortunately it is anything but background music, it is played throughout the whole hotel including the pool area. We did mention it a couple of times the girl at reception that we spoke to tried to get it turned down but to no avail. We did ask about a quiet pool which is down on the bottom floor next to the Spa again unfortunately there is no Sun at all it is completely in the shade which defeats the purpose for us as we like the Sun. We would have stayed in the hotel to eat and drink but because of the constant dreadful noise we ate and drank out. They didn’t have a quiet area anywhere. Unfortunately for us this was not a relaxing experience for us.
a week away in the Malta sunshine
This review is based on my recent experience at the Solana hotel and spa.
The hotel is a lovely place to stay, provides lovely dining options with themed food nights An Amazing rooftop bar with a good amount of sunbeds and two lovely pools, There is a spa downstairs in the basement with a lovely heated indoor pool with sauna and a Jaccuzzi which could be used but had to pay 15 euros and book it which I thought was a negative, The location is good short walk appx 20 mins to the beach and a bus stop near the hotel so you can explore the island with a cost of about 3-3.50 euros also some lovely eateries nearby and some shops and bars, all good so far....
So a bit of advice and this did put a dampener on the holiday slightly... If you book an INTERNAL ROOM just beware as we did not knowing what to expect, The first room was on the lower floor opened the room door and could only describe as claustrophobic and prison cell like with a very small window at top where wall meets ceiling no natural daylight, we asked to be moved and the second room on another floor was just as small no natural daylight with a small sliding frosted window, i have stayed in internal rooms before but not like this and i booked through an Agent and there is not a true representation on the website of the hotel displaying these rooms... very naughty and misleading I feel, so just be mindful of this when booking so we eventually got an upgrade which we enquired about at check in originally and with some persuasion we got a SUPERIOR ROOM £ 250 extra and it came with a balcony, so with the room sorted after few hours we thought the stay would be pleasant, and it was a pretty good stay, Housekeeping was a bit hit and miss, the last 2 nights the room above us were noisy into the early hours chatter and dragging furniture around I did complain at reception on the 2nd night and they said they would send security to the location, sadly the final night was the same and with a 4am departure I did my best to try and sleep.
so the hotel Has some lovely points but also could do better in some places, so for me I will rate As a 3.5 star, If I had known about the room situation it probably would have been a better stay, staff friendly enough so i would say its a lovely place to stay just be aware of the ROOMS sadly I didn't get a chance to photograph the two rooms as i was getting stressed with the situation and it slipped my mind
