AX The Palace

We obviously returned for the 17th year running now. As I said last time there is no other place in Malta we would choose to stay.

Once again we were always in close contact with many members of staff prior to going to Malta, mainly Dorianne Camilleri - Dorianne as usual looks after us from the moment we book our flights to accommodate our every need and arrange all of our rooms which this year was 4 rooms including a swap over once some of our family left. Dorianne is always fantastic and always greets us all with smiles, cuddles and conversation as we would with family and we see her in that way.

On arrival this time we were introduced to the new front of house manager, Amir which was a very warm welcome as always and he made us feel like we had already known him for years on arrival, we also were met by many others on arrival, Mark Zammit, James Galea, the regular smiley concierge as always and many more who stood and chatted with us in reception with our welcome drinks! We really love everyone there and how much they go out of there way to just be around us, it truly is like being with family when we stay at the Palace.

As usual we went to our room, quickly got changed to be able to go to the pool for a quick drink before dinner and meet more of the great staff we see as family over the years, Kris and Ivana, Kumar and Dionis always so happy to see us and make us feel like they are as excited to see us as we are to be there. They really are the best people around the pool we could wish to have and make everyday so happy for us considering how many of us there always are and the pressure they are under with making sure everyone else around the pools needs are being met. They all work so hard and ALWAYS have a big smile whoever they are serving! - They go above and beyond everyday and I would say everyone of them is an asset to the hotel and I hope they are there for many years to come as for us it would not be the same around the pool If they were not!

Fabien is another member of staff who we have created a big bond with and always greets us with a great smile and time to have a chat to us no matter how busy he looks he is always willing to stop, ask how we are and make sure we have everything we need - It is always nice to see him and have a chat and he is always so attentive to everything within minutes.

Maris also went above and beyond, always smiling and for our Birthdays we really were WOW'd, she went out of her way to make sure we had a special day on each of our Birthdays which really did make the day very special and something we still talk about, very nice touches and a very attentive member of staff.

Tom T in the Talk of the town and sometimes around the pool where needed works so hard and I can honestly say he is another who the whole family loves to be around. Even If it is late and he is finishing after always working so hard he will take the time to talk to us and get anything we need, me personally the same as with Kris often joke about our football teams which is always funny - If you read this Tom and Kris - remember what I said......4 years running hahahaha

Vamshi in the Penny Black is another long standing member of staff who we have created a lasting bond with and recognises us every year without fail as well as accommodates us when we go into the Penny Black - even when I am being fussy about my drinks being too spicy Vamshi had no issues making it work for me hahaha

Victoria and her events team are always so good to us, every year we have a event for my wifes Birthday and every year it goes perfectly - my Maltese family have become so impressed with it since we started doing it they ask me every year what date it will be happening so all the credit to Victoria and her team because they are pleasing everyone in the party from 2 different countries without fail or complaint now for many many years - that to me is very very impressive and we look forward to the next one! Thanks

I would also like to mention all of the other staff who maybe don't get seen as much BUT 100% deserve to be mentioned, the cleaners, the maintenance staff, housekeeping etc are exceptional, we had the same cleaner this year as we did last year and it was faultless everyday again, they always have time to say good morning, afternoon or goodnight when seeing us as we do to them......People carrying our works such as maintenance within the hotel on a daily basis always say hello - to us that is such good qualities in them and we love that everything is so easy because they accommodate anything we need even when sometimes they want to come in the room for something we have asked for and we might need to pop in - they have no issue with it.

Finally I will have to mention the breakfast team - from the front of house as you walk in to the staff constantly walking around picking up after people and asking if they want tea of coffee top ups as well as the amazing cooks taking on egg requests or even toasted sandwiches - everything is always for us a very high standard and they never have a problem doing that for us.

I have tried to mention everyone and everything we love about the Palace and nothing will change for us as we are already starting to plan for next year and hope we can arrange everything in the same way as usual.

All in all I would say that the AX group should be extremely proud of how the whole team from top to bottom helps this hotel run smoothly and keeps people coming back, I honestly can not fault a thing and I am sure we will arrange our next trip soon back to Malta and the Palace as I said there is nowhere else we would rather be.

This is our second time at this hotel and yet again the hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The location is perfect for all the local shops, harbour, restaurants and bars in sliema. The ambience of the hotel is modern, welcoming and impeccably clean. The staff are amazing and go above and beyond to help you. We requested an upgrade prior to our stay, and upon our arrival our upgrade had been upgraded again to the texture suite which even had a hot tub on the balcony! The roof top pool has plenty of loungers and they also provide you with free fresh towels so you don’t have to worry about taking your own up if you don’t want to. The food and service at TemptAsain (again not our first visit!) was superb from start to finish and the staff so welcoming and friendly. If you are contemplating a stay here, my advice is do it, you won’t be disappointed.
