I will start with the good things, the view from our room was great as from what seems to be all of the rooms looking over the sea, rooms were ok clean and tidy, most of the staff were great, happy and friendly, that’s the good.
Now the bad, we had booked x2 executive rooms with sea views, on arrival which was around 11.30am we were told our rooms would not be ready till 3pm, which I guess would be ok normally, but the heat was so so hot at the moment this could have been quicker, waiting around wasn’t great, we looked at our room numbers on the paperwork and could see they were wrong, we questioned the reception and said that the rooms were wrong, the reply we got was that those rooms were not available, and we had been down graded, we called for a manager, he came opened up his laptop opened a few things and said, oh yes this is not your fault or ours, the bookings had to be put in manually, which had not been done !! we were offered half the cost of the upgraded rooms which we had paid for at a extra cost of £490 for 2 upgraded rooms, the offer was €250 as that’s the maximum that they can offer he said, this was not acceptable and we should have a full refund for the upgrade cost of the rooms, we complained to tui, we tried on many occasions to talk to the manager again but he wasn’t or didn’t want to talk to us again for the whole week we were there.
When we finally got to our rooms, first glance was well there ok let’s just get on with it, this soon changed, the first day/night staying showed issues with the rooms, I will shorten this to the main points, there was writing on the walls the shower door was missing which allowed water to go over the floor making this very slippery when going in and out of the room, we were told that all rooms were like this walk in shower and the same, attached are two pictures showing this is a lie our room and the other room clearly showing a door on one and not the other, after a few hours the air con didn’t seem to get the room very cool at all, later on the electric started to trip turning everything off, after 30 seconds it came back on again and we had to turn a/c, lights and tv on again, this wasn’t so bad during the day but as the night fell trying to get ready wasn’t fun, later on when coming in from a night out and spending some time in the room this became a problem, the lights turned off at least 4 times while we were chatting and playing cards, the a/c was a bigger problem at night, it was rubbish, the room got hot, so hot we couldn’t sleep, we complained and they said all the rooms are the same, a/c is set temperature .
I don’t mind heights but the balcony wasn’t a great place to spend time, it’s very very small and has glass panels all the way around, no metal work just two glass panels sections stuck together, if you touch them they moved, I am guessing they are safe, but just the look and feel of having just two glasses panels stopping you going over didn’t feel comfortable at all, the bed was so lumpy with springs that it actually gave me and my wife sore ribs and backs, the room was clean and tidy and beds made every day, breakfast was ok, was a mix of foods but they could have done better with the English breakfast, thick bacon that was very chewy, sausages that were ok, scrambled egg or boiler no fried eggs present, fresh fruit was available along with pastry’s,
The pub was ok for food, evenings in the pub were fun, staff and drinks were good and was nice to chill out before going up to the not so good rooms, sorry to say but we would not go back to this hotel from what I see there are far better places to stay.
I live in Malta. But my residence in Sliema had a 76 hour electricity blackout. Nightmare! I explained to the receptionist my situation and we were very kindly offered a considerable discount for the 3 nights!!! I don’t know what we would have done without their help!! Thank you to all at The Londoner. Excellent service; fabulous rooms; extremely clean. Would recommend to anyone!!
The Londoner Hotel Sliema is a modern hotel in a great location.
We would recommend booking a sea-view room. Our room was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was good, with a reasonable selection of both hot and cold options.
The location is excellent for exploring Sliema, St Julian's Bay, and Valletta.
The hotel is well connected, with buses providing access to all parts of Malta and a ferry to Valletta nearby, although the ferry may not operate during adverse weather conditions.
We would definitely recommend staying here.
Great location, close to everything. Very clean and cosy rooms, but book ones with the sea view. Staff is very polite and friendly. Strongly recommend.
Good location. We were top floor with nice view. Breakfast is next door and good
