- Baia Grande Hotel

It isn't always easy to find a hotel with the right combination of amenities, comfort and elegance – all set in the right location. But when you choose the Algarve, the possibilities open right up.
Beautifully situated, overlooking the sea at Sesmarias, the Baia Grande hotel is a wonderful example of a hotel that meets all those criteria. Set in elegant, well-tended lawns, it shows how a modern hotel can look at one with its surroundings. You'll be assured of a warm welcome and a very comfortable stay – the wide ranging amenities mean you'll want for nothing.
When you stay at the Baia Grande Hotel, you'll immediately notice just how well presented it all is. Clearly this is a hotel where great care and attention have been lavished on everything from the beautifully laid out swimming pools to the elegant guests' rooms.
All twin/double rooms are air conditioned, and feature full en suite bathrooms. You'll also have satellite TV, telephone, minibar and hairdryer, a safe and Wi-Fi. And, as you'd expect of a four star Algarve hotel, all guests' rooms have a balcony or terrace with a pool or ocean view.
The pool really is something very special. It's been beautifully designed – complete with a walkway to a central island, and is one of the most enticing on the Algarve. There is also an indoor pool – with sauna and Jacuzzi facilities. And you can hire the hotel masseuse to soothe away any aches and pains.
Another great benefit of staying at the Baia Grande Hotel is its location – just half a mile to Galé beach, and a couple to Albufeira. And to make it even easier for you to get there, you can catch a free bus to Albufeira or Galé from the hotel (weekdays only).
With its palm trees, and its beautiful sense of design, Baia Grande Hotel is a wonderful place to call your holiday home. It proves that finding the right kind of hotel is always worth the effort.

This elegant and comfortable hotel overlooks the sea at Sesmarias. It is less than half a mile to the nearest beach and about two miles from the centre of Albufeira which offers a wide variety of bars and restaurants. The well-tended gardens of the hotel offer a scenic backdrop of lawns and palm trees to a large outdoor pool. The Algarve's varied attractions are within easy reach of the hotel.
Generally everything is lovely . A quiet medium sized hotel . Pool is great sun beds no problem. Few minor things why do they have coffee in room when you cannot get milk . ? Unless you remember at breakfast I was told to go to dining room but they are closed ! Breakfast could be a lot better limited choice . Fruit little choice very small selection of breads . Juices all from machine full of sugar no fresh juices . Wouldn’t touch the sausages doubt they have any meat in them . Other than that best option is a lovely omelette. Couldn’t find a Portuguese tart either probably want you to buy them from the pool . Pool staff were lovely though . Oh very few plug sockets in room as well
Had a lovely time lovely and clean , the only resort I have stayed where the pool doesn’t open till nine , no shortage of sun beds and not one sunbed has a towel on it , I would bring your own towels as there’s are small and thin . The restaurant is nice plenty of choice , I stayed full board but as reviews have said also can’t believe you have to pay for water, £4.50 in restaurant, and pool bar £3.50 small bottle of water , Breakfast in morning you. Can have coffee , water , fruit juice , there is a notice on table in restaurant, have what food you like while your in here , if you take anything out you will be charged €10. My last little moan when you arrive there is no help with suitcase , if your here before 3 your told , go round corner and put in room, then if you wants a long trip go to pool bar eat and drink but you have to pay , because it’s not 3 yet , it was 1.30 , While you’re here you have to pay when you order any drinks straight away so keep your purse on you. , Like it here not enough to return , PS if you have any room left in you suitcase puts some drinks in ,,empty fridge in room 😳
The hotel is exactly as it appears in the photos, not very large, but not small either. The rooms are nice, quite spacious, and clean. Although there is a balcony, smoking is not allowed on it; the hotel and the pool area have a few specially designated smoking areas.
The pool is large enough for the hotel’s capacity. We had full board, but honestly, I do not recommend this option. At lunch, there were only about 2–3 side dishes and two types of meat. The food was very limited in variety, but everything we ate was tasty. They do have a barbecue evening which was, indeed, very diverse and delicious.
A big downside, from our point of view, is that water is not provided at meals, not even with full board, not to mention juices or other drinks. I believe a carafe of water on the table should be mandatory. For all other drinks you have to pay, and water is quite expensive. Juices and other beverages are reasonably priced. Only in the morning is water, juice, and coffee included. For the rest of the day, except during meals, we bought water from the supermarket, which is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel.
The area is quite secluded and very quiet. The beach is about a 15-minute walk away, at least one of them. You won’t find wide, long beaches here, but they are extraordinarily beautiful due to the cliffs. There are few sunbeds, but we didn’t feel the need for them, as we fully enjoyed the beauty and wildness of the place. The water is very cold, but that is just how the ocean is.
For those who want a wide sandy beach, the hotel provides a free shuttle bus, round trip. We preferred to explore the more wild beaches.
I will leave this for last, but it is very important, and for us it was the heart of the hotel: Lucas, one of the staff members and, among other things, an entertainer. An amazing person, loved by absolutely all the children. My son,Robert, insisted a lot that I write about him, as he adored him. Lucas was the reason why we absolutely had to be at the pool in the evening, just so the kids could play together. He managed to integrate him into the group of children, tourists from different countries, despite the language barrier.
Thank you, Lucas! Keep doing what you’re doing! 😊
Perfect location Good atmosphere Room was amazing, but we’d like a little table to hang up our wet clothes
Very nice hotel, clean and friendly staff. We went out most mornings till early afternoon and still there were sunbeds left by the pool. Great location 5 mins away from old town, marina and plenty of beaches nearby. We only stayed bed and breakfast so can’t comment much on the food apart from there was a good selection at breakfast and the snack bar by the pool was really good portion sizes for the money.
Download uber app before you come. It is much easier (and cheaper) than getting taxis.
Great family friendly hotel would recommend to anybody and would definitely stay here again.
The only thing I would complain about is the confusion over the free shuttle bus service. The first day we were there we went to reception and asked for the free shuttle bus to old town they said you have to book it a day in advance. No problem it was our first day so we got a taxi to old town instead. Tuesday we went back to reception to book the shuttle bus to the beach for Wednesday. Was told no we have to book on the same day (even though the day before we were told you have to book in advance) the man said go and have breakfast tomorrow and then come back and you can book it. Wednesday morning comes we went to breakfast went back to reception to book the shuttle bus and were told it’s already gone the next one isn’t until 4pm. So we had to pay for an uber. I think you need to make it clearer to guests when they book in how to use it rather than have 3 different reception staff tell you 3 different things.
Apart from this, they were very friendly and always greeted with a smile when exchanging pool towels or even walking past when entering and leaving the hotel.
