Beyond Expectations!
From the minute we walked into this beautiful hotel we were greeted by a friendly and helpful front desk. The friendly service continued in all areas from the servers in the restaurants and bars, to the house cleaning team. Gabriella at the front desk was so helpful and we really appreciated it. Kuldeep from Flor De Sal Restaurant was great too! Highly recommend a Sea View Room, as the views are spectacular, good size and really nice. This hotel takes pride in the condition of this property. Food is all the restaurants was very good, never disappointed. The beach is a bit a walk with lots of stairs but what experience getting there and seeing this beautiful beach! We have stayed at many Hotels and Resorts and this one is at the top.

Fantastic experience!
Just returned from a wonderful week’s stay at this rather lovely hotel. The moment we arrived it was clear this was a good choice: the reception area is spacious, airy and welcoming. We were greeted by Gabriella who could not have been more pleasant and helpful. The (sea view) room was of good size (27m2 according to the website and that seemed right to me) with all the amenities you’d expect (except perhaps, a bath tub). The air conditioning is a bit puny but does work and the addition of a ceiling fan made the room comfortable in the 34-degree heat we enjoyed. The room mini-fridge was a bit weedy but kept a bottle of something fizzy chilled rather than cold. The choice of pool areas is extensive making it easy to find a spot to suit - we preferred the slightly secluded raised decks. The walk down to the beach was good exercise but after the first couple of days we found it just as pleasant to remain at the hotel. Our intention was to dine at local restaurants (of which there are plenty) but we ended up eating at the hotel. The Lima bar had all the food we really needed so we dined there most evenings (they are quite keen however, to move you on after 5pm - it closes at 6 - but not unpleasantly). Quick drink at the Aqua Bar happy hour and then relax at the Sunset Bar. Big shout out to Israk who looked after our every need. We dined once at the Mercado Restaurant evening buffet. A bit pricy (34.50 Euro each excluding drinks) but was well worth it: fantastic range of high quality fresh food, and the buffet format allowed one to taste a little of almost everything. Room servicing was discreet and professional (as you’d expect) and our chambermaid, Rose, made sure we were fully stocked with fresh towels and butterscotch sweets! In all, a wonderful stay exceeding our (fairly high) expectations. Well done to all the team at PortoBay Blue Ocean but particularly Gabrielle, Israk and Rose.

This hotel is amazing, from the moment you walk in, the hotel is elegant and calm with a wonderful colour palette.
The reception team are warm, friendly, helpful, professional and we felt truly valued as guests.
Our room was gorgeous and cleaned every day, it was absolutely spotless, as is the whole hotel.
The landscaping is beautiful and so relaxing. You really feel as though you are in a comforting cocoon and cared for by the wonderful team.
Eating out on the veranda outside the restaurant in the evenings is magical and the food is excellent. The desserts defy description - they are works of art!
The hotel hosted a "Bye Bye Summer" party during our stay with a fabulous DJ by the pool area, the area lit with tea lights and with a grand finale of a fire dancer! It was magical.
We have stayed here a number of times and it just keeps getting better and better. For a holiday where you know you are valued as a guest, with beautiful calming colours and a relaxing vibe, gorgeous landscaping and the best hotel team we have ever met, this reaches excellence,

Portobay Quality
We’ve just had a week half board at the Blue Ocean. It’s a lovely laid back modern hotel in a small, quiet resort half way between the lively Albufeira and blingy Vilamoura, both a cheap taxi away if you want. The hotel is twinned with its next door neighbour , the Falesia, which actually has better beach and town access (despite how it looks on the map). However Blue Ocean is a bit more premium and up market. Rooms are large, tasteful and comfortable. The whole hotel is very clean and the room cleaners are brilliant. The buffet restaurant is very good for breakfast and dinner, even full it never seemed too busy and the choices were good. A generous half board contribution to the premium à la carte dining at Blue Ocean and Falesia make this a no brainer. The sunset bar, literally watching the sun set from a high up vantage point, for a pre dinner drink is a must. For beaches, there is one in the resort and one just east. It’s a 10 minute stroll through the quaint little town to its beach which is small but pleasant. Or (what the hotel calls direct access) a very long series of about 350 steps down the cliff side to the huge and largely unspoiled eastern beach. Worth it and you can walk back via the road but not for the infirm. Improvements? Well as others have said a bottle of water per day would be nice but then there’s a supermarket at the end of the road. That’s all, it’s a great hotel. We loved it.
