The Westin Salgados Beach Resort

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. It was nowhere near the standard I expected from this brand.

The cleanliness was unacceptable. There was hair all over the floor when we arrived, making it obvious that the room had not been properly cleaned. To make matters worse, we even found hair in the food we ordered, which was completely unacceptable and very concerning.

I sent several emails to Marriott Customer Service but did not receive any assistance. As a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member, I found the level of customer service extremely disappointing.

There was also a persistent sewage smell in the room throughout our stay, making it difficult to relax. Housekeeping was inconsistent, and despite reporting these issues, they were not resolved satisfactorily.

The overall service was disappointing, with little attention given to our concerns. This was far from the quality and hospitality I expected, and it significantly impacted our vacation.

Unfortunately, I would not stay at this property again, nor would I recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable hotel experience.

We arrived at this hotel having been 3 times before (2022, 2023, and 2024). In each of the previous years we have just found everything about the place to be perfect for a young family. We were aware that it had changed owners so were not sure what to expect. However, it was genuinely incredible, and somehow even more perfect than before.

The renovation work in the bedrooms is of an extraordinary high level. We stayed in a family sea view room, which had plenty of space and lovely decor. It was spotless on arrival and cleaned to perfection on a daily basis.

There is 4 large pools and 2 small pools all lovely in incredible surroundings. Not one issue with sun loungers with plenty of space and availability every day at all times. There was a small park and kids club for the little ones. Visited the gym just for a nosy, and was spacious and well kitted out.

We ate from the bar menu a couple of times and was really high quality and breakfast is excellent. A great mix of options and really relaxed vibes.

The location is a dream! a lovely short walk to the most beautiful beach and a nature reserve which the kids loved. A trip to feed the Ducks and turtles each morning. Alongside some excellent restaurants within walking distance. Shout out to Bella Vita and Pedras Amerelas which are amazing!

Short drive into albufeira or vilamoura, and within a decent distance to 4 excellent water parks. We have done them all and something for all ages.

Finally, a strong mention to the staff. Each and every single one were 5 star excellent! Extremely welcoming, kind and helpful with lots of little nice gestures for guests (examples of little extras include little nibbles on arrival, fresh apples by the pool, refreshing wellness drinks in reception).

If you are looking for a relaxing break, this hotel and location is perfect, either as a couple or as a family, or with groups of friends which we done in 2 previous years.
