Family of 4 currently on our last day. Arrived on a Friday on all inclusive and although expecting to be busier summer holidays we felt like we had walked into chaos.
Room Small, no tea/coffee facilities Limited storage But clean Housekeeping ok although they will not take away and dirty glasses etc
Entertainment Staff great enjoyed aqua dance. Evening entertainment ended too early. Limited seating outdoors so if you don’t eat and get table by 8:30 you will be sitting on the grass.
Food Generally good, enough choice. Pasta station wouldn’t bother very bland. Lunch wouldn’t bother very limited and no drinks served.
Snack bar Portions ok. Drinks choices very limited and unclear on cocktails options. Staff miserable and boaderline rude and unhelpful.
Pizzeria Waited 1.5 hours had 1 drink brought in that time. Ended up taking pizzas too the room.
Sun-bed awful/uncomfortable and clearly need replacing.
Nothing luxurious about the stay and will not be returning.
We travelled to Vila Galé Nautico as a family of 3, x2 adults and x1 child (aged 12) on an AI basis. I was slightly apprehensive before travelling as there were limited tripadvisor reviews and this was a new property to Jet2 for the 2026 season. However I needn't have worried at all. This hotel and holiday were fantastic! We paid for a private transfer which took us 50 minutes instead of the advertised 2 hours on the coach with Jet2, well worth it we thought.
We had booked the cheapest type of room (a twin) and yes it was small, however it was modern and very clean. There was ample storage space (including a free safe) and plug sockets for all 3 of us. The slight downside was our daughter was given a VERY small single child campbed. She is quite tall for her age so it was a squeeze but she managed. We had emailed prior to our visit to ask for a lower room in a quiet location, exactly what we got, so thank you to the hotel for that. The bathroom contained a large shower that was always hot and pretty decent in power too. Our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels as often as we needed. We also had a free minibar that was restocked every day with fresh water (and lemon ice tea which went down well with our 12 year old). As people that don't spend much time in the room we felt it was fine for us and wouldn't feel the need to upgrade to a bigger room.
The bar, snack bar and restaurants here were just superb! After the first day we didn't eat in the restaurant again at lunch, the snack bar had such a good menu and the food was made fresh to order (you get given a buzzer to take away with you until your food is ready so you can carry on enjoying your holiday without having to stand and wait). The restaurant have 4 theme nights throughout the week (Portuguese, Mexican, Brazilian and Seafood) you also have the option of the Italian al a carte (1 visit for every 7 night stay) We opted to eat out on seafood night (see my other review of Shahi Darbar Indian restaurant) as I have a fish allergy, however we could've eaten in the bar using the snack bar day menu if we'd have wanted to. The food quality was always of a high standard. I would say there isn't a huge choice at night but there was always the staples (soups, breads, salads, a fab cheeseboard table etc) you honestly couldn't go hungry or struggle here at all. One small negative for us was the plate sizes at breakfast-they only provide side plates. If you fancy making up a full English or are getting freshly made eggs benedict from the cooking station, your food will be across two plates. It's a shame they couldn't have dinner plates out at breakfast too. The restaurant had plenty of help yourself food stations but also some freshly made stations too-pastas and meat/fish usually. Yes you needed to wait a few minutes but it was never long at all.
We have to give a shout out to João from the Italian. We ate here twice throughout our stay and both times he was the most polite, courteous and friendly waiter. Also the food in here was unbelievably good. Such high quality.
Drinks wise, well again, just superb! Freshly made cocktails, 'full fat' beer (as my hubby called it) really nice red wine, sangrias, cocktails, cold coffees (with coffee machines that stayed on all day and night-we know lots of hotels turn these off after breakfast) fizzy pop, fruit juices, bottles of water etc. The snack bar also offered magnums, cornettos, calippos, carte d'or ice cream, haribo push up ice creams all on the AI. So much choice.
The pool area was very clean and relaxing. No sunbed wars here at all-get up, enjoy a relaxing breakfast, head down to the pool anytime up to 10.30ish and you could easily get sunbeds and a parasol. Even if you need to be near the kid's pool or at the front to keep an eye on your kids there was always plenty of beds to be had. Free pool towels from reception and change them as often as needed. This is the first hotel we've been to where there wasn't a lifeguard on duty (we're ok with that though as our 12 year old is a competent swimmer) and all types of inflatables were allowed in the pool. Staff were out constantly cleaning both pools and the surrounding areas. In fact staff were out n about all day cleaning, mopping etc.
Here I feel I should give a mention to ALL staff: everyone we met was so friendly and polite. Diogo (and another lady who I am sorry but I didn't catch her name) were very professional on a day when I took poorly in the snack bar, both making sure I was ok and getting me back to my hubby. Thank you. Alf, Jackson, Tomas, all the evening bar staff, everyone on reception. You are all such lovely people, we loved the day you all came round the pool to dance during aqua dance, we've never known that in a hotel before, it was great!
The entertainment is what you expect on holiday-you will join in with what you enjoy and the rest won't be your cup of tea. We mainly joined in with a few of the games during the day but didn't really pay it much attention on an evening. We often chose to walk along the promenade or have quiet drinks in the bar area. However the entertainment team were a friendly bunch and always stopped to have a chat with you.
The grounds contained a large trampoline, a play park, kids club, table tennis, pool table (in the bar) and a wee games room, as well as a large library room and an open indoor pool (unusual in the summer). Plenty for our 12 year old to be occupied daily. It isn't a large hotel but big enough so that our 12 year old could be off herself with her new friends and we knew she couldn't be too far.
We honestly didn't have big expectations for this hotel, however it far exceeded them in every way! I feel we have stumbled across a bit of a gem with this place. We holiday 2/3 times a year and we like to visit different places. We have only ever returned to 1 hotel previously. Vila Galé Nautico is most definitely a place we would like to return to next year. We have already recommended it to friends and family too (one of our friends has already booked for September).
Thank you to everyone at Vila Galé for such an amazing holiday, we will see you again!
You know when you go to those Hotels and there's a management team always swanning around, micromanaging everything and disrupting the flow of the staff in their white shirt/blouse like the Hotel is their own personal vanity project ? Well this IS NOT that Hotel which reflects well on the management and even better on the staff who work hard , do a good job and are always complete professionals. Food is good , but I fear dyed in the wool Brits may struggle with some options , chicken hearts on a cocktail stick stands out for me. However even though I did not appreciate all the options for meals I could not knock their presentation and the cleanliness of the dining room , plus the pasta bar whereby they cook pasta for you with a variety of sauces always picked up the slack of the sea food dishes.
PAY ATTENTION as this is simply not mentioned in the reviews or the website or indeed at check in: There is also a fantastic Al La Carte Italian option which if staying for 7 nights you get a free meal in and that was fantastic. The snack bar , I found was the best place to get dinner with a menu varied enough to have a different option each day for a week , I got to say on occasions the quality of the fries reached a whole new level of great. Drinks and cocktails where fantastic and freshly made ( allow 3-4 mins for a mohjito to be prepared),.However be warned the Lager Sagre tasted like Super Bock but was about the same alcoholic strength as Stella so have 1 or 2 pints less than normal , unless you drink Stella. You get access to 'proper' Ice cream on the all inclusive such as Calippos , Magnums and Cornettos , which is nice because I have been to plenty of 4 star all inclusive hotels that are full of kids crying cos they cant have that stuff! The entertainment team worked their socks off and you could really see the difference when they had their day off on Sunday and the evening turned into the Lord Of The Flies with feral 'unentertained' children making their parents do some parenting. Housekeeping visited everyday and the free minibar was topped up with anything you may have drunk , also if you are going to the very close and beautiful beach ( go at low tide and turn right) you will get a 2 liter bottle of water if you ask. Also if you have an early departure they will provide a 'packed lunch'. Got to say I would certainly return to this hotel and was impressed as I expected so much less.
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff were all very pleasant, friendly, and always happy to help, which made us feel welcome throughout our stay.
The hotel bar served much better food than the main restaurant, and we found ourselves preferring to eat there. The location is also excellent—it’s only around a 5-minute walk to the beach, making it very convenient.
Overall, we had a great experience and would happily stay here again
I stayed here for a week with my two children, all inclusive. Having read other reviews I was a bit worried about what the food would be like, but it was excellent! Meals in the restaurant were buffet-style and there was a huge amount of choice, with several things per meal being cooked to order. This meant that you may have to wait 5 mins for your turn, but the quality was exceptional. When an item on the buffet ran out it was soon replaced and most food was piping hot. As all inclusive guests staying for a week or more, our package included one evening meal in the A La Carte Italian restaurant, which was even better! The drinks package included a range cocktails and mocktails as well as all the usual drinks. All staff were cheerful and helpful, and the place was spotless. I’d go back in a shot if I had the chance!
