Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Unfortunately, our experience at Pestana Palm Gardens was very disappointing, mainly because of the way the hotel handled a basic and urgent situation during our stay.
On September 30, we lost running water in our apartment at around 6:00 AM. There were four adults staying in the apartment, which meant we could not shower, carry out basic hygiene, or use the toilets normally.
We completely understand that a problem with the public water supply may have been outside the hotel’s control. Our disappointment is not about the hotel causing the water outage — it is about the lack of urgency, initiative, communication, and care shown towards guests affected by it.
During the morning, I had to go to reception FOUR times before we finally received drinking water, at around 10:00 AM. When I initially asked for bottled water and what could be done to help us, the response I received was essentially that it was not the receptionist’s fault and that there was not much they could do.
We were not asking the hotel to fix the public water system. We were asking for assistance.
The water eventually returned at around 10:00 AM. However, that evening, the water supply stopped again. This time, reception told us that there was no estimated time for it to return.
Once again, four adults were left without the ability to shower or properly use the toilets.
At approximately 9:30 PM, we were finally provided with two 5-litre containers of water. The normal water supply only returned after 10:00 PM.
The most frustrating part was not simply the water outage. Unexpected problems can happen, and we understand that. What disappointed us was how the situation was managed. We had to repeatedly insist just to obtain something as basic as drinking water, no adequate alternative was provided for showering or sanitary facilities, and throughout the situation we felt a serious lack of urgency and commitment to guest welfare.
We paid €392.18 for a two-night stay for four adults. From a four-star hotel belonging to the Pestana group, we expected a much better contingency response and a much more proactive approach when guests were left without such an essential service.
We left very disappointed — not necessarily because the water supply failed, but because of the lack of urgency, communication, and commitment shown when guests needed assistance the most.
Had a really lovely week. The two bedroom townhouse was nicely furnished and in good condition. The garden areas are well kept and the views are fantastic. It is in a good location. Staff were all excellent. Would definitely recommend. There were plenty of sinners around the pool with lots of shade available.
We had a wonderful stay at Pestana Palm Gardens and were welcomed back again this year very warmly. It was special to have a surprise upgrade and the Vera and the reception were very attentive. The Villa was very clean, nice design but still traditional and had all the amenities needed to enjoy, cook, relax. Amazing view of the sea too. The grounds are so well looked after with lovely flowers and land around. The wider facilities including pool, gym, restaurant are lovely. Well worth the money and we always love staying here. It is a short walk into the town and a good location to visit all the local popular spots and nice restaurants. See you next year!
We stayed at Pestana Palm Gardens for a week in July, at a Two Bedroom Superior, which was not the cheapest option, but not the most expensive either. And we loved it there! The townhouse was bright and clean with two large bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a fully equipped kitchen with a dish washer, washing machine, filter coffee machine and a large refrigerator. We had sea view from the second floor and access to a shared garden. The kids loved the pool, and it took 10 min to walk to the nearest beach and a very good restaurant Ostop opposite direction from the city center. Vera at the reception was very welcoming and helped us book a boat trip to go see the caves. And the food at Sal & Tal restaurant at the hotels premises is really good too! We will definitely come back!
Been coming here for the last few years. The last year this place was fantastic was 2024. It had music playing into the pool area all day, a great atmosphere for dinner at night with a live singer 2 nights per week. It removed these for 2025 and there is no atmosphere at night for dinner anymore. The apartments have alot of issues that need repairing, broken drawers, really old worn towels, blocked shower drains etc. But the main issue is the restaurant/bar area. We used to dine there daily for lunch and always at night for the live music nights. Now they dont do this anymore. The menu has removed basic items such as plain pasta for kids. They refused to give my child spaghetti with tomato sauce even though they serve spaghetti bolognaise. The food doesn't come as described on the menu many times, missing ingredients and sauces. The bar has no cocktail menu but does make cocktails if requested. A cocktail menu should be provided. The prices are gone very expensive. We used to buy 4 or 5 drinks each each day by the pool but now we get sometimes 1. Cider (Somersby) in 2024 was €4, in 2025 was €6 & in 2026 rose to €8. We love it here but it's a pity they removed so much around the restaurant/ bar. The ice cream freezer has very few ice creams and those left are melted and refrozen. Not fit for sale. They advertise smoothies but have no stock to make them. This could be a fab place if they went to back to how things were done in 2024. We would definitely spend more money at the restaurant/bar if it did anyway.
