Mareny Benidorm

Unfortunately, our experience at Hotel Mareny was very disappointing. The room my husband and I received was fine, but the room given to our children was unacceptable. The window faced directly onto a wall and a ventilation system blowing out hot air, making it practically impossible to keep it open. Because the room could not be properly aired, there was a strong smell of damp and stale air. What was especially disappointing is that I contacted the hotel before our arrival and specifically asked not to be given this type of room. When we asked to change it, we were told that another room would not be available for three more days. After four days, the children finally received a room with a balcony, which was perfectly fine. Unfortunately, at that point the air conditioning in our room stopped working. It was not repaired before the end of our seven-day stay, and the alternative offered to us was the same room our children had just moved out of. Spending several days without air conditioning in August, with night temperatures of 27–28°C and high humidity, is simply not acceptable. We did not expect luxury and we did not mind that the hotel and furniture were older. However, basic things should work – proper ventilation, fresh air and functioning air conditioning. On the positive side, the staff were polite, the rooms were cleaned every day, and the food was decent. However, if you are considering this hotel, I would recommend looking at other options as well. For the same or a similar price, you can find much better accommodation in Benidorm. We definitely would not return.

Honest to goodness 3 star hotel. un pretentious, not modern, yet all you need for a short trip is there. I had a 6 night B&B booking here...Good location, near to thee old town, lovely mas playa beaches, and the castille. Veery disappointed I wasnt allocated a room with a balcony, instead the window faced a tall grey high wall just 5 feet away, this was at room 109, so the curtains were kept closed. I realised that rooms with even numbers had balconies and were given to spaniards..which is NOT a fair policy at all. The room was a double twin, spacious ample storage spaces tv and aircon, a room safe was available at 5 euros per day with a 10 euro refund ...personally I always insist on a room safe and made use of this There was only one socket to use in the room, there was no fridge, and cost 4.5 euros per day, the bathroom was ok. Breakfast was definately a 3 star menu, good choices and well prepared Must say the staff in all areas were polite and cooperative at all times,and the duty manager was able promptly to provide additional sockets, and a fridge for my medications in gratis, this was really appreciated. Didnt bother with the rooftop pool..much preferred the beaches, bed and parasol were 6 euros each Yes | enjoyed my stay at the mareny, but would only go back if I was assured of a balcony /terrace next time Overall I had a happy stay there.
