This hotel in the holiday resort of Benalmádena lies some 250 m from the sprawling, wide sandy beach and 1 km from the centre. A bus stop is located within just metres of the hotel, while scores of bars and pubs lie a short distance away, shops and restaurants as well as a nightclub are to be found in the centre of the town a mere 200 m to 400 m from the establishment. Surrounded by lush gardens, this elegant hotel is a perfect option for all those who wish to escape from hustle and bustle of the city life. The rooms are ample and well-equipped to provide a peaceful ambience in which to kick back at the end of the day. Guests may take advantage of the 2 swimming pools with integrated children's pool, bar, parasols and sun loungers. The in-house solarium is available for use by hotel guests. Sports enthusiasts may find leisure facilities in the vicinity of the establishment. The hotel runs a seasonal entertainment programme.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Just back from our stay at the MedPlaya Hotel Bali. Here is a straight-talking, honest rundown of the good and the bits that need work.
The Room We had a sea/pool view room that was spotless on arrival and kept to a very high standard by the cleaners every single day. The main room felt modern and did the job nicely, though the bathroom is looking a bit tired and could do with an upgrade. One handy tip for the balcony: there are no outdoor lights. If you fancy a quiet beer outside on an evening—especially if you’ve got kids asleep inside—pack a small portable outdoor lamp, otherwise you’re stuck relying on the main bedroom light.
Food & Drink Food overall was decent: Breakfast: Plenty of choice to set you up for the day, though the bacon was a bit too greasy for my liking. Lunch & Dinner: We only bothered with lunch on our final day, but dinner changed nightly with some lovely options. It wasn't always piping hot, but if you timed it right or grabbed items straight from under the heat lamps, it was spot on. All-Inclusive System: A bit different to other places. You get a card alongside your wristband to exchange for drinks (San Miguel on tap went down well), returning your empty glass to get your card back.
Snacks & Rules: All-inclusive runs 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. The snack area requires your room key to get in; selection was quite limited, but the burgers were decent. Just make sure you’ve got a shirt on before walking in, or the chef will rightly let you know!
Entertainment & Staff The entertainment team were incredible and easily one of the biggest highlights. They kept both pools lively all day with great games for kids and adults alike, always making time for a genuine chat. Evening shows were a bit hit-and-miss, but the Summer Festival on Friday 14th August was top class. Across the board, the staff were friendly, polite, and clearly enjoyed what they were doing—singing and dancing behind the bar and getting stuck in.
Hotel Condition & General Vibe The hotel is in decent nick, though a few areas need a refresh: Hallways could do with fresh carpets and a coat of paint. Outdoor stage seating needs new tables. Sunbeds by the kids' pool don't recline and have seen better days. Evening seating by the stage can turn into a bit of a free-for-all despite the staff's best efforts to keep it organised.
Verdict A really good, enjoyable stay that delivered on value. We would happily return, though likely outside peak season when it's slightly calmer and less chaotic on an evening.
I love the Bali and while I appreciate everyone's taste differs, I have had nothing but positive experiences. I have stayed here twice as a solo traveller and once with friends. I have only ever been B&B so unable to comment on lunch/dinner but breakfast is exactly what I expected and there genuinely is something for everyone. People moan about no variery but not really sure how the Bali can provide any more variety than they already do!
I've been lucky with my rooms each time - spacious, clean and tended to every day if I wished.
The location for me is perfect, yes the hill is steep but it's short and doable if you take your time. This may prove trickier for wheelchair users or disabled travellers but there are alternative (but longer) routes with less steeper hills.
I have just booked another solo trip to the Bali for November, my 4th visit in 11 months. As a solo female traveller, I feel incredibly safe here and would 100% recommend the hotel.
We recently enjoyed another fantastic family holiday at Hotel Bali in Benalmádena. This was our second visit in two years, travelling as a family of four with two adults and our girls, aged 12 and 8, and once again we had a brilliant time.
It was lovely to return to a hotel we had enjoyed previously, and we were pleased to find that it still offered the same friendly atmosphere and great family experience. There was plenty to keep both girls entertained, from the pools to the activities, and it was great to see them having just as much fun this time around.
Our room was comfortable and clean, the food offered plenty of choice, and the location was ideal for enjoying the beach, shops and everything Benalmádena has to offer.
The fact that we chose to come back for a second visit says a lot about how much we enjoyed our first stay. Once again, Hotel Bali didn’t disappoint, and we left with some more great family memories.
We would definitely return again in the future and would happily recommend Hotel Bali to other families looking for a fun, relaxing and enjoyable family holiday.
We had a lovely time here stayed 7 nights and would go again.
Staff very helpful and friendly Hotel very clean and tidy You can add a drinks package each day which was really good Although the note was busy it never felt like it as it was well managed by the staff at times of high business Short walk to the beach. The hill was quite steep though but short Entertainment was very good in the evenings Food selection good at buffet and lots of variety
Booked through Jet2,flew from Bristol.Flights were good both ways.Short transfer from Airport to hotel.Booked in,rooms were ready by 2pm,we could use facilities.Requested rooms together ,which they gave us.Rooms are on the small side, the pull down bed was ok,but beware of the corners, ended up wrapping towels around them, after bashing shins numerous times.Bathroom ok,bit tired and grubby,if you have mobility issues,it’s a chore trying to get out the bath,as area is tight.Rooms cleaned daily and towels changed. Restaurant food was ok,never hot and if you are a vegetarian you could struggle. Outside areas tired and grubby.Tables stained and dirty, never saw the pool area being cleaned and muck was still there 2 days later. The pool steps weren’t clean 😬,which makes you wonder about water testing and cleanliness.Mini golf, well that’s a joke.Staff were nice everywhere and animations team work hard.Would I go back,no I wouldn’t.Oh and the walk back up the hill is steep.
