Benalmadena

This exceptional resort boasts a magnificent location in Benalmádena right on the water's edge, and just a short taxi ride to Benalmadena Marina. The resort's convenient location means the villages of Mijas and Fuengirola are not far away with tennis and golf clubs, as well as a casino nearby. Moreover, Malaga international airport is a mere 20 minutes’ ride. Visitors may love to relax by the side of the outdoor swimming pool, sunbathing or resting under the shadow of an umbrella. After a full day of sightseeing, sporting action or playing on the beach, guests can unwind in the comfortable rooms, which are perfectly equipped with all the essential amenities needed for a pleasant stay.

Nice hotel in beautiful location

After reading a few reviews leading up to our trip , I was slightly sceptical what to expect. I really shouldn't have been. The entertainment was good especially for the kids. Pool beds, although there was people queuing every day, you still had plenty of beds by mid afternoon. The location was right next to the beach. And if your mobility is fine location is good and you can walk to amenities however if like us we rented a car and had to drive everywhere, parking was a bit of a nightmare to find. Also to park at the hotel was 18 euros a day which when paying for accommodation there , that mounted up for the week. I understand beach goers were parking at the car park so understand they should pay but for people staying in the hotel , it was a bit unfair. We never ate in the hotel so couldn't review there food but drinks prices were average hotel prices. The bar around the corner right on the sea front was beautiful. The hotel was clean and beautifully decorated, the rooms were cleaned every day.

Beautiful hotel

We absolutely loved our stay in sunset beach club, location is great plenty of restaurants and beach on your door step, taxis outside the hotel if you want to go further afield, it was very busy when we stayed great buzz all day, our room was spotless clean when we arrived and has everything you need, the hotel has a great little shop with all your essentials, the bakery is fresh and handy for breakfast or lunch. The pool areas are spotless clean and so much fun with activities through out the day, all the staff in the hotel are so nice, my 7 year old daughter loved the kpop demon show, we will be back! Thank you to everyone at sunset beach club!

Great family hotel

Great friendly, clean family hotel in Ideal location. We upgraded our room to the deluxe junior suit with sea view and emailed ahead asking for the beds to be split into twins. Myself and my husband were on the sofa bed which was absolutly fine and we slept well. We were self catering so we also emailed ahead and ordered the breakfast shopping package which was in our room waiting when we checked in at midnight. The room was a good size, clean and well equipt, the kitchen was small but we only really ate breakfast in the room. Managed to cook bacon etc but you would struggle to cook meals for families in it. The cleaners came in daily. We ate at the pool cafe a few times, great menu and reasonably priced. We also ate at the laterraza restaurant in the hotel, the food was lovely and great prices. The rest of our stay we ate out at restaurants with good reviews near the beach and at the marina all amazing and great prices compared to eating out in the uk. The shop in the hotel is well stocked, it is more expensive than the local supermarket which is directly opposite the hotel so we just stocked up there. The bakery section in the hotel shop was really good, we used it a few times to get bits for lunch for on the beach and around the pool. We didnt really join in with the entertainment but the hotel is huge and I feel the entertainment was well balanced so if you wanted to get involved you could but if you just wanted to relax you could. Our children are older so we just headed to the larger pool away from the kids entertainment. There were people queing for sunbeds at daft aclock but we just got down to the pool by 10-10.30 and always got sunbeds. We spent the evenings walking down the sea front, sat on our balcony or sat in the lovely cool panaramic bar playing card games. The location of the hotel is great, there are activites on the beach right next to the hotel and the beach sunbeds are only 16 euro for 2 plus a brolly for the day. The hotel has its own taxi rank, we went into benalmadena town to a big market it was under 10 euros to get there, we went to the old town, which I highly recommend , stunning and only about 15- 20 min in a taxi from the hotel. Be aware though no where seems to sell food between 4.30 and 7.30. The place we went to most was the marina, lovely area lots of shops and restaurants. We walked about 30-40 min flat walk but in a taxi again under 10 euros. Another bonus of this hotel for early or late check out they have changing room and luggage storage facilities. Only negative, which cannot be avoided in such a large hotel was it was a little noisey around midnight sometimes when the entertainment ended, This is out of the hotels controll some people just dont feel the need to be quiet walking back to their rooms late at night. Overall we had an amazing week and could not fault the hotel, we will definatly return

Great beachfront family hotel

My husband, our 6 year old son and I stayed at the Sunset Beach Club for a week in July. This was our second visit to SBC and we feared it might not live up to expectations but we needn't have worried as it was just as good as we remmebered 3 years ago. We booked a prime sea view apartment and requested a high floor (got the 10th) which had uninterrupted sea and pool views. The apartment itself was a good size with a large couch/ sofa bed which was perfect for our son. Sliding doors separate the bedroom and the bed is positioned so that if you are sitting on the bed you have amazing sea views. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for self catering - hob, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, pots, frying pan and plenty of dinnerware and cutlery. Washing up liquid, sponge and dish cloth provided. The apartment was very clean and was cleaned every day with fresh towels provided, and sheets changed twice during the week. Shower gel is provided. There was a good sized balcony with small table and 4 chairs. It would have been nice if there were sun loungers but they weren't provided. There wasnt any wardrobes in the bedroom but there was a small storage room in the apt which had a chest of drawers and plenty of clothes hanging space. It was a perfect for storing suitcases too. In-room safe is also found in here, along with an ironing board, brush and mop & bucket. Great to have this storage area. We were at the hotel during peak summer season and there was a really good selection of activities for all ages, both indoor and out and in the pool. Our son loved the mini disco every night (around 8.30pm) in the Moonlight Bar - great to be able to get a beverage while the kids are enjoying the disco and still be able to watch them. The animation team were excellent, very engaging and enthusiastic with the children - special mention to Axel who our son loved, thank you! There is entertainment/ tribute bands (eg Ed Sheeran) or musical shows (eg Shrek) provided every night after the kids disco - its repeated every week so could get very boring if you are staying for more than a week! The hotel has 4 (unheated) pools - not an issue during the summer months as heat up very quickly. It's a huge hotel but there are loads of sunbeds (lots with umbrellas too) however everyday people were queuing up for sometimes an hour before the pool area opened to put down towels! Absolutely madness- this is the one area I feel the hotel needs to clamp down on as while the pool staff leave a note on the sun loungers saying belongings will be removed, I never actually saw this happen any day we were there. While we might had to look for a few minutes we got a lounger any late morning or afternoon when we went to the pools. There are a number of restaurants/ bars at the hotel to eat in but we didnt dine there as we always prefer to explore the abundance of restaurants off site. There is a large supermarket on site and it was the best hotel supermarket I have ever seen, fully stocked with everything you could need from freshly baked bread and pastries every day to full off licence, toys for kids, fruit and veg, and everything you could want for the beach (suncream, arm bands, buckets etc). It was fantastic having everything at our fingertips. Another big advantage was having a taxi rank right outside the hotel so there was always a taxi available. Overall SBC remains the best family hotel we have stayed in to date and I would highly recommend it. I hope to be back again some day.

Non relaxing holiday

First off we have been regular guests of this hotel for years and to be fair the rooms are spotless and we have gotten to know a lot of the staff over the years and they are all hard working friendly people and I couldn’t find fault with any of them. I noticed a change in the clientele over the last couple of years but sweet Jesus the hotel is now attracting the power drinking screaming yobs and delinquents of society. We would normally have a drink as a family each evening before dinner in the downstairs restaurant but unfortunately we had to leave the bar some nights because these people can’t communicate at anything less that 100 decibels lashing back shots and screaming football chants non stop.I actually don’t know who were worse the men or the women. This is supposed to be a family hotel but some nights you didn’t know if the women should be in a hotel or a street corner by what they were wearing which really wasn’t appropriate for what’s supposed to be a respectable hotel. Unfortunately our time at the sunset beach is well over and I don’t know where the hotel is advertising itself or where the marketing ideas came from to go down this route but most of the clientele on our trip this time would have been better off parked outside an off licence in a caravan let alone a hotel. Everyone in our group of 6 all said never again which is a shame especially when the staff and the onsite amenities cover everything.
