Don’t get the ice cream unless you want a fishy surprise, found a fish bone in the bowl that contained my ice cream.
The location of the hotel in relation to the airport and the beach is perfect. The walk into the town is around 20 minutes, it is a flat walk but to hot to do during the day. Taxi is around €10 one way to the town centre.
We had a deluxe family room which was perfect for two adults and two children. One room with a king bed and a sofa bed in the living space. On arrival we asked for a kettle and this was provided, also the hotel gave a bottle of wine to celebrate a birthday. The rooms were clean and so was the whole resort. We had a garden terrace ground floor room in village 14. There was no noise and the whole space was very quiet. The room had a mini fridge perfect for keeping drinks cold.
Our holiday was half board, what I will say is drinks and snack food is VERY expensive. €7.50 for a very small sangria (which is from a bottle) and €5.95 for a small plate of chips. My advice would be to go full board or all inclusive. There are limited places to go out of the hotel without the walk into the centre. Nearby there is a supermarket which is reasonably priced for drinks and basic snacks.
The biggest downfall of the hotel is the lack of seats to watch the evening entertainment and also the reserving of sun beds. Both of which was a pain, you either had to be seated in the entertainment area early or up early and queueing for a sun bed. Yes the lifeguard issues a warning after 30 minutes however this is inconsistent!
The entertainment was OK, I wouldn’t say it’s worth staying at the hotel in the night for. Some are boring and some are not suitable for families. The best show was the magic show.
Overall a good stay, would I recommend yes, would I return no!
We had a fantastic stay at the Occidental. The location is perfect with a beautiful beach opposite and a short transfer time. This was our second stay and it was just as good. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Our room was spacious and modern. The food was good with lots of variety. Entertainment was good too. My girls loved the kids club. Special thanks to Nayra for making my girls stay so memorable. We hope to visit again
Me and my family spent excellent week at the hotel. Everything was good - food, swimming pools, drinks, snacks.
The Occidental hotel is amazing, this year was our 3rd year in a row and won't be out last. The staff make the holiday even better than it could be. They are attentive, polite and so nice.
