This magnificent hotel is beautifully nestled in the district of Antigua, just by Caleta de Fuste beach. The wonderful local harbour as well as shopping options, restaurants and bars can be easily reached on foot. Guests will be able to find convenient public transport links approximately 300 metres from the hotel. The airport is around 7 km away and the capital of the island, Puerto de Rosario, is 12 km from the hotel. This is a perfect location to spend a sunny holiday by the sea.
We had a very good family holiday with a groups of 10 adults/children and are looking to book again for next year with 14 people.
We had a fantastic holiday at BarcelΓ³ Fuerteventura Mar and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our 5-year-old especially loved the pool, and the beach was lovely, easily accessible, and perfect for family time.
The hotel is also in a very convenient location β only around a 10-minute taxi ride from the airport, which made travelling with a young child so much easier. We also found it to be very good value for money.
The staff were one of the highlights of our stay. They were incredibly accommodating, kind, friendly, and always smiling. They genuinely seemed happy to be there, which created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our room was cleaned every day and kept to a good standard.
We were pleasantly surprised by how quiet and peaceful the hotel was, and we had really good nightsβ sleep. The bed was also surprisingly big and comfortable enough for the three of us, which was a big plus for our family.
The only downside was that the food could be quite repetitive, although the salad bar was really nice and there was still a decent variety of options.
Overall, the atmosphere was calm, relaxing, and family-friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and felt that we got great value for our money. We would happily come back again! β€οΈ
Lovely hotel great sea views rooms were huge and spotless thank you (valerie lovely friendly lady ) beds very comfortable.food good my only complaint was the main entertainment area and parts of the hotel were so unbelievably hot I know in a hot country but the a/c just didnβt keep it bearable
Writing a review as I was dreading coming after reading reviews on here! We booked a week before we arrived and travelled as a family of two adults, 10yr old and 10month old staying all inclusive.
Arrived at the hotel around 10pm and reception staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Rooms are mainly doubles which consist of a double bed (ours was huge!) and a double sofa bed, sink and mirror area and shower/toilet room. It was cosy, but it was manageable. We folded the sofa bed up during the day for space, but our 10yr old was disturbed by the baby throughout the night/early morning so would try to get a family suite if coming again. Showers were good with plenty space to wash the baby and help the 10yr old with her hair without getting soaked. Our room was ground floor which faced onto the buffet restaurant and the evening entertainment. When the doors were closed at night, noise was minimal and didn't disturb us at all.
Pools were a major concern before we arrived after the reviews and I don't know what I was worrying about. Yes they are salty, but they are not unbearable. I think we all just get used to chlorinated pools which is why it may seem so bad to people but even as someone who dislikes going in the pool, it didn't bother me or my fish of a 10yr old. Pool area was well maintained and staff sweeping round/collecting glasses etc all day. You can hire towels for β¬10 each which was refundable on return. We just used our own all week other than the last day.
Pool self serve snack bar was good for toasties and chips at lunchtime. There was also hot dogs, chicken burgers, salads, sandwiches etc. Juice machines, water, slushies, ice cream all available in this area.
Cleaning staff in the hotel were great and so 'on it'. Couldn't say there was ever a time that I thought somewhere needed a wipe down etc (and I'm a bit OCD when it comes to this!).
Food in the restaurant was your average all inclusive. We aren't big fans of all inclusive and keep saying we won't do it next time. There was always something to eat though, but we did go out a few nights to the tex mex restaurant just out thr back gate and Fado's (highly recommend) and got pizzas from Pizzaloha another night.
Location couldn't be any better. Out the back gates onto the promenade and straight out to the shops and restaurants.
We had a pram with us and at first found it a bit of a maze for lifts. We ended up not really using them because we were a ground floor apartment and only really needed to go upstairs to reception/evening entertainment area and we just carried the pram upstairs. We also found it easier to walk out the back gates onto the promenade to go to the shops.
We were a night time flight home and check out is 12pm. There is a luggage room, lockers available next to the toilets and shower rooms available. This meant we were able to enjoy our last day without stressing about how we would get the girls sorted before the flight home. The shower doors don't lock, so we showered in our swimwear, took this off and got dried/changed in the toilets as the room was very humid. There is a hairdryer in both the shower room and toilets.
All in, we have had a great week. We have never stayed in a Barcelo before so have nothing to compare it to but if you're looking for somewhere that has a lovely (windy) walk, close to shops and short transfer, then I don't think you can grumble!
P.s. we took a walk along to the Atlantico shopping centre one morning which took about a 20min stroll. Wouldn't bother, there's next to nothing there other than a big Spar π
We have just returned from a 10 night stay and we had the most amazing time! We stayed in a deluxe room which had a whirlpool which was absolutely lovely, the room was clean and spacious with good air conditioning. The room was cleaned daily and to a good standard.
We mainly ate in the Tindaya buffet and always found plenty of choice, the food was varied and hot as it is kept in dishes with lids on. We tended to eat earlier for lunch and dinner which worked well for us and it definitely seemed to get busier later in the evenings. We did try the Mexican one night and the staff were incredible and there was so much choice!
The pools were good and there was entertainment for everyone during the day, the animation team worked hard and helped everyone to have fun! and shows in the evening which were always good quality acts.
We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel, we have been before and we would definitely go again!
But if I were to make any minor tweaks I would say an ice machine in the self service part of the pool bar and swapping back to the reusable plastic cups as it seems more wasteful to use smaller paper cups. Also more sun shades as it was always a struggle to get a shady spot as people reserve the beds with towels quite early in the morning.
Overall - a great hotel in an excellent location right by the beach and some lovely shops, clean, spacious and excellent quality with friendly staff. We canβt wait to come back!!
