Barcelo Corralejo Bay

Early flight so didn’t expect to be able to check in when we arrived but our room was ready. From arrival to checking out nothing was too much trouble. Staff friendly. Fab location. 2 min walk to Main Street. Quiet around the pool area which was lovely. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will be returning.

Wonderful relaxing holiday. The food was varied and consistently topped up throughout the evening. Staff friendly and very helpful!

Am currently staying here with my daughter. Overall having a very good experience. Room- clean, comfortable and spacious. Small fridge, kettle, tea and coffee. Balcony has a clothes drier and chairs. The bathroom is spacious with toiletries provided. There is a TV not that we have had it on long- it has connections for USB and hdmi. Hotel areas- Lounge bar seems relaxing -not been in it. Pool area is peaceful and relaxing. Only spent a bit of time there. It was possible to find a sunbed. There are various seating areas that are relaxing. Reception issue a small leaflet with some basic information about dining times etc on arrival. The lady doing our check in was quite miserable however I found everyone else to be very friendly and helpful during our stay.

I personally would have liked more information on how to operate the Barcelo app- after asking reception how it worked I was then able to find out a lot more about what is available and on.

Spa- We had daily spa use included in our room but no information provided on how that operated. We went to the spa to ask and were advised we needed to book on the app or website- again a welcome guide explaining that would be helpful. The spa was lovely and very enjoyable with friendly staff.

Gym- Gym was ok. Apparently that should be booked via app but this isn’t clear and towels are available at reception or spa for gym or classes.

Fitness Classes- not obviously advertised- there are a few A4 notices in reception and the spa and occasionally a passing frame on a TV screen in communal area. So again you book on line or via the app. On the app it isn’t particularly clear where to find the classes and there are some in a section titled “We” and some in sports facilities then book a class. I had an uncomfortable experience after booking spin class whereby I had the booking confirmation on my app, attended the spin area. At the spin area a man who appeared to be in charge appeared to dismiss my booking, tutted, then another lady asked me if I was a tourist, questioned if I had paid to which I showed my confirmation. The lady and man proceeded to query if I had paid and were really unfriendly and not welcoming and rude. I left to speak to reception who agreed I had a booking and couldn’t understand what the issue was. I was then directed to the spa. There I was informed that this class was a payable class and should be paid at reception. I flagged that the app at no stage states payment is required nor does it detail a price. I was shown another A4 poster detailing classes available and ones in a specific colour needed payment. I highlighted that there was nothing stating this nor the prices. I completely understand regular gym members or public using and paying for spin classes might be irritated if people aren’t paying. However if this isn’t detailed anywhere it’s a bit difficult to know this. Again an issue with the app and communicating clearly. This was an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience and avoidable with better communication from the hotel. Other classes I attended twice a day were really good, friendly and welcoming instructors and participants- all were Spanish and I enjoyed these classes! Dining room- Food was great plenty of choices and variety. Friendly welcoming staff. I have stayed at other Barcelo hotels which were also good and this hotel was overall a positive experience- a few changes to communications for guests will help elevate it.
