The Hotel R2 Pajara Beach is located directly on the beach, on an impressive vantage point, from where you can enjoy a great view of the beaches of Sotavento. Its architecture in the "U" shape allows you to have, from almost every one of its comfortable rooms, a magnificent view of the glittering turquoise waters of Costa Calma. The hotel consists of 387 air-conditioned rooms, each equipped with a telephone, TV, fridge, bathroom with hairdryer and safe. With its modern facilities and services, this 4-star hotel offers a wide range of entertainment, swimming pools, gardens, sports facilities, spa and gym. You can also enjoy our Exper2ience program.
Overall we had a good stay at the hotel. The food was good with plenty of choice, the rooms are reasonably spacious and the hotel grounds are quite large. There was also something going on every day, with different activities organised by the animation team.
A special mention has to go to Pilar from the kids club. She was absolutely lovely with our 5-year-old daughter and our daughter really took to her. Pilar was very caring and genuinely seemed to enjoy spending time with the children. You could see that she was making a real effort to keep them entertained. The whole animation team were very enthusiastic and friendly.
There are, however, a few things that I think the hotel needs to improve. The hotel is starting to look quite a bit tired everywhere. Some things are small, for example we were given what looked more like rags than proper towels (see photo) or room was not cleaned, but there are also bigger issues: The decking around the pool is in quite poor condition and some of it is badly worn, which I think is a safety issue and should be urgently addressed. The managements lack of interest tells you a lot about the regard towards the guests. Some of the paving around the hotel is also uneven. Anybody's holiday could be finished on the day one if one is trip over these pavers.
I managed to split my toe on the hotels volleyball court, due to concrete hardcore being covered by not enough sand. This needs to be remedied immediately by laying more sand and the animator spending 10min before the game to even out the ground!
The beach bar was another frustration. There was often a queue because there was only one person serving, especially at busy times. Having another member of staff there would make a big difference.
Most of the guests during our stay were German, followed by Czech and Polish, with some French guests as well. We didn't see many British or Russian guests.
Overall, I think it's a good hotel as long as you haven't paid too much for it. There are definitely things that could be improved, but we reasonably enjoyed our stay.
WORST HOTEL I HAVE STAYED IN! Avoid Definitely not a 4 star, food was awful, rooms needed exterminating due to Ant infestation Tree cutters all week sawing trees down, at 08:00 in the morning. When complaining to reception they said “sorry” wasn’t good enough, the cleanliness of the hotel was shameful. The hotel staff were under staffed and definitely stretched! Fully packed hotel one person on the all inclusive bar. Children’s entertainment was awful, no translation to the children they looked lost. Another couple was also complaining that there concrete balcony had disintegrated in the wind and blown down to the downstairs including the metal railing! They were refused to move rooms! Health and safety…. There was none, no protection barriers for the tree cutters as they were throwing palm tree branches down, couldn’t hear our self’s think. Hotel manager was rude and made it my fault that the ants came in, when no drinks or food were left un attended in the room, including my Crohn’s medicine and sterile treatments were absolutely saturated in ants along with my personal gadgets. The hotel needs a refit. To outdated and boarder line falling to pieces. Also the family rooms have ONE plug socket with is for the tv…. Good luck charging all your appliances and getting ready as a family of 4 really challenging. We went as a group of 6 with two children and would never recommend.
Worst holiday I’ve been on. Rooms tired, outdated and lacking basic amenities such as working air con and plug sockets. Food bland with limited choice. Entertainment extremely boring. Pool areas dirty with old food from the day before and chainsaws going on all day everyday where they are cutting down trees by the pool. Toilets around the pool disgusting One of our groups rooms had an ant infestation Another guests balcony crumbled and partially fell down. Very little to keep the kids entertained, they described the kids club as being like school.
Would not return or recommend to anyone. I have no idea how this hotel is graded a four star!
Pool area was nice, great location for the beach and hotel was huge. Food wasn't great, most of the staff were really unfriendly and facilities need improving. Location-wise, if you are looking for a variety of places to go out to eat, this is not the resort for you, as there are a small handful of restaurants within a 10 minute walk.
When booking the room, I ordered a room with an ocean view, which is what I paid for, I was expecting a view, right on the ocean, but I received a room with a side view outside the hotel, with a view of all the dirt outside the hotel, trash cans and strange smells, a disaster.
