The Risco del Gato Suites is an exclusive hotel with a unique architecture with 51 Suites surrounded by 34.643 m2 of gardens and swimming pools on different levels. This hotel is an oasis of tranquility and comfort on the stunning Island of Fuerteventura. The famous Sotavento Beach, in Costa Calma, is just 200 m. away from the hotel and the town center with shops, restaurants, bars about 2 km. Costa Calma Beach has been awared in 2013 with the Blue Flag, a symbol of envronmental quality conceded once a year by European Foundation on Environmental Education. The island's warm climate makes it a real corner of paradise throughout the year.

A relaxing and peaceful stay
The hotel is located in the southern end of Costa Calma, which in itself is a very quiet resort. The rooms are quirky and yes, a little outdated, but we found our room to be in fairly good condition (301). We did have the 2nd bedroom pod. In that one, the shower did have a mind of its own and got the floor very wet. The main room was clean, and the aircon worked really well in the bedroom. The lounge room was really stuffy, and we didn't use it or need to. It had the fridge, a coffee machine (chargeable) and a kettle. There are also a few cups, plates and cutlery, which we managed to use to make our own sandwiches at lunchtime (on a budget). The grounds are well maintained, and on the whole it's very quiet (but we went outside of school holidays). There were always sunbeds available (no cushions on them). The pool was clean but very chilly, but nice for a few lengths to cool off. The breakfast has plenty of choice, and the egg station does make it - giving you the option for eggs how you like them. I would say that vegans would really struggle here and at the resort in general. The reception staff were friendly and helpful too. And there is a shower you can use after you have checked out in the Spa, which was fine, but it could do with a changing room too, as we had to use the toilet in there to get dressed. Overall, a good value stay for the price we paid.

Relaxing and restful
We really enjoyed our stay here, rooms/pods were very spacious and had everything we needed and more.,very clean and loved the idea of leaving message for cleaning if wanted or not. I absolutely loved the outside space and the option to either shower outside or in mostly out in my case . Restaurant was great on our first night I dined alone but was welcomed and waiters were very friendly and attentive, food plenty of choice and being served as well as helping yourself is a great idea more relaxed, the whole experience was restful and relaxing, my only negative being a bit elderly was the walk back from the beach is steep, nothing to do with hotel,

Review from a British family
I will start with the positives - Nice rooms, nice pool area. Helpful reception staff. Rooms cleaned very well.
Negatives - breakfast isn’t great very Limited choice especially for children. Pool sunbeds and pool umbrellas have seen better days. No pool bar. No atmosphere within the hotel.
Surrounded area within Costa Calma - Positives - beach is lovely. Can also get a bus into Morro Jable which was lovely. Negatives - mostly very unkept. Lots of dumped rubbish. Pavements broken, drain covers unsafe. Not much to do. A handful of restaurants. Wouldn’t return to this resort or recommend it to anyone. Probably the most boring resort we’ve stayed in.

Could be so much better with a bit of a refurb.
The rooms are a great size with a private patio with sunbeds, 2 double beds which are reasonably comfy settee in the lounge area and a kettle and a coffee maker, it seems wrong that they charge you for a bottle of water and for coffee for the machine, Bathroom again is a good size but seriously needs looking at the mosaic tiles had a patch covered by a bit that didn’t even fit properly Reception staff were great but breakfast staff were generally quite rude. The breakfast was awful, machine juice, cheap bread with no butter only margarine, really not good, you’d be better off going down the road to the shop and getting your own, can’t comment on the pools as didn’t use them at all and hardly anyone else did. There is a funny smell in the bathrooms.
My happy place.
It is our fourth visit to Risco Del Gato as we simply love it here. We have stayed in many Hotels and rentals on the island but we often find ourselves returning to this Hotel. Here’s why.. we love the friendly staff, especially Bernardino on reception who is simply wonderful, so friendly and welcoming. The food is far superior to many of the large hotels which cater to hundreds. Every other evening is a five course sit down meal with a menu for you to choose from and it is always, I mean this, always delicious. Other evenings are often themed with Italian, traditional Spanish and US food style which are served buffet style with a chef cooking fresh food for you. The Hotel is quiet so if you prefer a noisy, music, drinking, hundreds at dinner & breakfast hectic vibe, this isn’t for you. It is peaceful and tranquil and a wonderful space to wind down.
