This hotel is beautiful inside. Really nice reception areas and bar area, loads of nice seating areas. The pool is also beautiful, it’s huge and a gorgeous temperature. However, the artificial sand which takes up a huge amount of space around the pool is horrific! It’s like cat litter. Horrible to walk on, unbearably hot, just awful. This would be so so much nicer if it was grass! The pool is peaceful in the mornings up until about 11, then the raves start. I think the animation team have absolutely no idea how to create a pleasant atmosphere. The music is so loud. I can see people around me get visibly annoyed once the music comes on. The volume is too much. No one wants that kind of atmosphere at 11am when there are small babies napping and toddlers paddling in the pool peacefully! Don’t get me wrong, my two children love a bit of entertainment and a bit of music around the pool, but this is so loud that it becomes unbearable. It’s anxiety inducing! Continuing with the pool, there are not enough sunbeds with umbrellas. If you’re not down first thing in the morning it’s hard to get a spot close to the pool and worn an umbrella. Technically there are loads of sunbeds around, but these are all behind the pool in a sun trap of a terrace with no shade. They are always empty because it’s too hot. One day last week there was a game of beer pong in the snack bar which I found totally inappropriate! The animation team were shouting “drink drink drink” and it was such a rowdy atmosphere, not appropriate for a family hotel. Such a strange vibe. Most disappointing though is the staff. They are just completely disinterested. No one is friendly, no one smiles! It’s weird! Snack bar staff are especially cranky! I’ve never encountered that at an all inclusive hotel before. Overall, it’s a lovely hotel inside in terms of decor - very fancy, but too big, too busy, too loud, and not friendly enough. The food is great though!
We have returned from our 11 night family all inclusive holiday staying at the Maspalomas & Tabiba Princess. We absolutely loved our stay! We went as a family of 9 (7 adults and 2 young children) The hotel is lovely and modern, beautiful lobbies with facilities such as a pharmacy, a shop and spa (note the shop is expensive, there is a shop across from the hotel)
Rooms: Mine and my partners room was at the Tabiba Princess side of the hotel. Located on the ground floor which we found ideal. We were very close to the pool so it made access to and from the pool quick and easy. Our room was very spacious and modern, no faults at all. Considering we were on the ground floor we had a nice view from the balcony. Ignore what other reviews said we had our rooms CLEANED every day, floors cleaned, towels changed and new bedding put on. The TV in the room was big and was very helpful as a football fan to watch the early kick off World Cup games as the tv had BBC and ITV which was a pleasant surprise!
Pool area: The hotel has multiple pools across the complex. All pools are lovely, clean and well maintained. The adult only pool was beautiful, it was very quiet and relaxing. You can hire cabanas for €25 a day. You have to queue up as it is first come first serve. There are loads of sun loungers across all pools so again ignore the reviews where people are claiming “it’s hard to find a bed” it absolutely isn’t! Sun umbrellas are placed in the floor so cannot be moved. We had the same spot throughout the duration of the trip as it was an area good for the kids and was next to the entertainment during the day. Around the pool there are 2x food areas and 2x bars with a main toilet located at the back. The water park was a big hit with our group, the kids slides and slides for adults were really fun and the kids loved it. There are no lilos allowed in the pool what is good because they’d just take up the space. Balls are only allowed in certain pool areas again which is good. Only small inflatable for kids are allowed. Please note that if you leave towels and belongings on the sun bed and leave them alone before 10am they will be taken away. Towels before 10am need to be manned and again ignore the reviews stating they weren’t aware of this. When you check in you are giving a piece of paper with information on it and it is stated in there. Also worth noting you aren’t allowed in the pool until 10am, not sure why this is but just a hotel rule what we found strange.
Food and Drink: We found the food absolutely amazing. In the restaurants around the pool the food is typically the same, there are 2 bars one serving burgers, hot dogs, pizza whilst the other was a “healthy” bar serving salads and other healthy foods on rotation. We found no faults with the food at all. In the main restaurant they have themed nights from Spanish night to Mexican night. There’s more than enough food to cater for everyone. Drink wise there was no issues, it’s the same in most all inclusive, the good thing about this hotel is the beer, wines, sangria and soft drink is all self pour. We found this to be really good and if you want spirits you can get this from the bar tender behind the bar.
Animation team: Massive shout out to the animation team! They were amazing getting people involved all day every day! They had more than enough things going on from volleyball, water polo, darts, beer pong to games with kids. They were always smiling, always happy and really seemed to love there job. We loved the morning and afternoon dance routines and getting involved with that. There were 2 in particular that really stood out for us, unfortunately we didn’t get there names but know one was from Columbia and one was Spanish. There enthusiasm was great. Night entertainment for the kids was good and the adult entertainment in the evening was fine.
The hotel is a short taxi ride to Maspalomas lighthouse on the beach and also Playa Del Ingles. Taxis are so cheap comparing to the UK with rides from as little as €6. Most places shut at 11pm unless you wanted to hit the clubs where these shut between 3-4am. It was nice to break up some evenings and take in a different view.
Overall we absolutely loved our stay and whilst out there we were looking to book again next year. We will be raving about this hotel and hopefully get others to experience what we experienced.
We absolutely loved our holiday, had the best time and would definitely stay again. Little notes....do read the leaflet, it gives you valued information needed to make your holiday perfect. We took water bottles and filled them at the bars around the hotel. Latte, my fav coffee, from the machine firstly espresso then hot milk...worked a treat! Cocktails are premade from a machine, can be a little sweet and warm so we got a slush and mixed it, omg amazing. Towels for me a little shorter in length then my own, would suggest taking a hand towel for the feet.
The hotel itself is very nice and well maintained. The restaurants, pools, and common areas are clean, and the food is tasty and varied. The staff are generally friendly. A small downside is the pebbles around the pool. They get very hot in the sun and are quite painful to walk on barefoot. Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by problems with our room. We had booked a junior suite, but the air conditioning did not work for the entire week. We changed rooms, but the air conditioning was broken there as well. In the end, it turned out there was a problem with the outdoor unit, which meant it could not be fixed. In addition, in the second room (1299) we also had a leak in the bathroom ceiling, which left the floor completely flooded. The temperature in the room stayed around 26°C all week, which was far from pleasant with two small children. We went to reception several times. Each time we were promised that someone would come by, but a solution never came. In the end, we were told that someone would contact us about compensation, but we never heard anything about that either. Changing rooms also cost us an entire evening of our holiday, without the problem ever being resolved. A shame, because the hotel has a lot going for it. If the room issues had been handled properly and with a customer-focused approach, we would have had a much more positive experience.
