Absolutely outstanding
We visited from the 3rd-17th August and stayed in room 4299. The Melonaras is hands down the loveliest hotel we have ever stayed in. We stayed at the Boabab last year and visited the Melonaras for dinner, this year we decided to book along with our extended family. The grounds are stunning, so we'll kept. We had an absolutely amazing time. Our only small complaints were that the buffet got so busy and made for an unpleasant experience. The layout pushes alot of people into a small area and there can be a bit of pushing/shoving. Also, the lack of available sunbeds at 10am caused some frustration. I would like to mention the amazing level of service we received from Marinara in the guest services team. We had a bad experience with a very rude and entitled guest at the pool (she thought she was entitled to our parasol as she had reserved one with the disabled beds - our parasol was nowhere near her beds. Her son then dragged it away leaving our baby in full sun.) I told her she was extremely rude and went to reception. Marinara and another lady came out and apologised profusely, they assured me that this behaviour is not condoned by the hotel. As way of apology (not that it was their fault) they offered to put us in the unique pool. As it was already 3pm and we would be going back to the room for a rest, we declined. The next day at 10am, there was not one sunbed available. I went to reception to ask if we could use the unique offer as we couldn't find beds. 10 minutes later, Marinara came out and said that the unique pool was full but she had personally found us 3 beds at one of the swim up room pools. She escorted us there, even carrying one of our bags. We were blown away with the service and feel that Marinara went above and beyond for us. We did use the unique pool on another day and unfortunately, we wouldn't pay for this service as it isn't suited to young families. There were some older guests who clearly didn't want us there, even though my children were very quiet and respected the rules. I would also like to thank Paula/Poula who works in housekeeping. She brightened up our morning and made such a fuss of our daughters. She was happy, warm and always so pleased to see us. My nearly 2 year old thought her name was Ola and has been asking for her since we have been home. I hope the hotel management will see this and pass on our gratitude to Marinara and Paula. Thank you for a lovely holiday! We will be back one day.

To them, selling drinks is more important than the safety and well-being of their guests.
An incredible hotel—the rooms and showers were very comfortable, and the pools were spectacular. The buffet food was delicious and offered a wide variety. We loved our stay, yet we will never stay at this hotel again. During our visit, my young son cut his left foot in the pool; we observed many people drinking alcohol in the pool area using glass containers. Waitstaff from the poolside terraces even served drinks in glass. A lifeguard administered first aid to my son but showed no concern regarding our complaints about the risks posed by glass containers in the pools. I believe this needs to change; it is very dangerous, and the hotel management and reception staff are highly irresponsible. To them, selling drinks is more important than the safety and well-being of their guests.

Amazing resort!
This is the second time we have stayed at the Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort and we cannot fault it. The resort is beautiful with lots of pools to choose from and stunning, well maintained grounds and gardens. The staff work so hard for the guests and it shows. They are professional yet friendly and you really feel you are being looked after. We ate breakfast at the resort which we all enjoyed, plenty of choice and lovely seating areas outside.
We had a few meals within the resort. We went to the Japanese restaurant Kabuki. Its not cheap but the food and service was very good and the view of the promenade and sea is lovely. We also ate at El Churrasco, again not cheap but good food and service. We went to the Italian too but would give this a miss if we went again as it was just ok for the price.
There are some great restaurants on the promenade. We ate at Kobe 96 (another Japanese restaurant) . The food and service was brilliant and the cocktails are something else!
Overall we would highly recommend coming to this resort. The rooms, entertainment, gardens, pools (I could go on!) are all amazing. We had the best week and cant wait to return!

Simply the best
The hotel is the best one on Gran Canaria. It was our third stay although in the past we very rarely stayed in a hotel more than once or twice. The reason for coming back is a very rare combination of amazing location, weather guarantee, convenient transport from the airport, fantastic food, amazing pools and service. What we particularly enjoy is the extensive selection of activities. Our kids love the Panchi club (big thank you to Natasha this year!). I go to the fitness classes and cannot imagine them without Janice who combines being an amazing instructor and entertainer (you made my day almost every day, Janice!). Last but not least, we all enjoyed being greeted to the restaurant by Ricky. There are people who have been visiting this hotel for many years. Maybe we will become those guests because despite just having returned from our holidays, I would very much look forward to meeting Natasha, Janice and Rick next year. Hope to see you all again! To Costa Meloneras Management - the hotel has maintained the same very high level for three years in a row - please continue the great job.
