Bull Dorado Beach and Spa

Back home after an enjoyable stay. We found the Bull Dorado had everything we needed for a great week away plus a few extras we hadn’t expected. Especially considering that the cost of this break through Jet2 holidays was very good value !
The hotel is positioned next to a small golden beach with breakwaters, which is perfect for children and young families. There is another large natural (dark) beach five minutes walk away and a white sand beach at Anfi ( about 20 minutes walk away ) I wish we had visited Anfi but didn’t fit it in , it looked very nice from the ferry. We strolled through Arguineguin on market day but didn’t explore it fully. We still found bars, restaurants, tobacconists and souvenir shops although we felt the Spar store we visited just a 5 minutes walk away walk down the main road was the best option for most things. We used the nearby bus stops for visiting Porto Rico (shops/restaurants/nightlife) and Mogan ( market, restaurants, scenery) We also ordered a taxi from reception to Playa del Anglais for a night out. Our room was on the top floor with only the sun terrace and plunge pool above us, our balcony looked directly over the pool and along the coast towards Anfi .The room also had a small kitchen and large lounge area which was kept very clean throughout or stay and towels were changed three times which was enough for us. The walk in shower was fine but could suffer from a lack of pressure at busy times. The tv channels available were a bit disappointing for English guests as most are Spanish or German. The pool area was very big but still felt a little cramped due to how close all the sunbeds need to be. The usual suspects would be out at 7.30 am positioning towels in their favourite positions but we rarely got up for breakfast let alone to position towels. We found that whenever we wanted to sit by the pool there was always a choice for 2 people together whatever the time. We liked the animation team, the aqua fit in the pool was a laugh and different games around the pool also added to the fun. Cocktail and Sangria making was also really good to get people talking together. The Spa was also something we really enjoyed as you could just chill out in quieter surroundings, use the gym , sauna, steam room etc or treat yourself ( pay extra) for a massage, as we did . We always found something we enjoyed at the All inclusive restaurant. How hotels cater for so many guests with so much choice always amazes me and the Bull Dorado did really well, the staff are efficient and polite. Apart from the usual trays of hot food there was always fresh fish and meat on the grill , soup , salads, cheeses and local choices . The pool bar also stood out for its food, available all afternoon the hotdogs, burgers and fried chicken were really good as were the cooked to order steaks which were all inclusive too ! We enjoyed the hotel entertainment, we saw a soul night, a Michael Jackson tribute and a magic show during our stay and all were very good. There were also quiz nights, Karaoke and dancing shows. There was a mix of guests here, families, couples and groups of friends but the majority were older couples. Nationalities were mostly British, then German , Scandinavian and also a nice proportion of Spanish guests which I saw as a complement to the hotel. Bull Dorado is placed near the main road to Porto Rico and Mogan and both are worth the cheap bus fare. Or for €10/15 you can take the nearby ferry. The busy shops and bars at Porto Rico are something different from Arguineguin and the beautiful scenery at Mogan give you lovely places for photos . A taxi ride to Sparkles in the Yumbo centre in Playa del anglais will give you a different night all together !! We had a lovely time away and want to thank all the Bull Dorado staff for making it that way ! Thank you all x

Recently returned and had a fabulous time. Arrived fairly late and received a friendly welcome. There was basic food and drink available for us in the restaurant which was a nice touch. Room was huge with lovely view over the sea. Didn’t experience any issues with cleanliness. Beds mad daily and towels changed 3 times a week. Pool area - sun beds are very ‘close and personal’ with your next door neighbour. But we never had trouble finding one. I would imagine peak season this may be an issue as usual, there are always those who put down a towel and you don’t see them all day! It’s a no smoking area around the pool. There is also an indoor pool in the spa which was lovely for relaxing and not very busy. You can hire a pool towel for a €10 deposit. It costs €1 if you wish to change for a clean one to cover their laundry costs. Food was pretty good by AI standards. A different theme each evening. Huge salad bar, cooking station with grilled meat and fish plus a Canarian food taster option. If burger and chips is more your thing the snack bar has plenty with toasted sandwiches and even a steak on a stone. Drinks - soft drinks, wine and beer self service along with various pre-made cocktails. Additional cocktails and branded spirits available at the bar all included. Free flowing Cava. The only things not AI were Aperol and daquaris. The area surrounding is lovely and relaxed. No good if loud bars and nightclubs are your thing (Puerto Rico a short bus journey away for this) but plenty of bars, restaurants, coffee shops and shopping available a within a short walk. Beaches are mainly black sand or man made. But there is a ‘Caribbean sand’ beach about 20 mins walk away if you prefer in Anfi. It’s busy and sun loungers €15 for a pair. You can also get a boat from the harbour to Anfi, Mogán and Puerto Rico. Mogan was lovely and well worth a visit. All in all we had a lovely stay. We’re not generally people who return to the same place twice but would definitely consider staying here again based on the price and facilities. No complaints at all.

This was our 2nd visit with my parents and it didn’t disappoint. All staff were were friendly and helpful with reception acknowledging on check in that we had been before.Being upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment was a real bonus as we were sharing with our 22 year old son who normally gets the sofa bed so thank you from him . We never had problems getting a sun bed but you will always get the people putting towels out early to bag their spot we actually watched one guy from our balcony setting up camp before the sun came up 😂 . Food is typical AI and on the whole was good , only the occasional disappointment , l loved the salad options and combined with the snack bar we never went hungry. The area is very quiet which suited us and you are only a bus or ferry ride away from places like Puerto Rico or Morgan for better shops or bars . People need to remember that this is a 3 star hotel and base their expectations on that . Daily towel changes and a late check option would be nice but we would still return for a 3rd visit without hesitation as it worked for us .
