Abora Continental by Lopesan Hotels

Let me start by saying I would give this hotel 4.5 if that was possible! Lots of positives - hotel itself is really lovely and clean.
Pool area is a good size with a covered over area for having a snack or drink. There is one big pool and a smaller one and a kids pool. There are quite a lot of sunbeds but typical of most hotels these days if you want a good position by the pool you need to be down with your towels by 8:30am at the latest. There is an attendant who walks round and if sunbeds are empty up till about 10 he puts a card on and if after 20 mins they are still empty he removes the towels altogether. Lots of fun to watch! The food is really lovely one of the nicer all inclusive we have been to with a great selection both in the restaurant and in the snack area. The entertainment during the day is excellent with lots of activities - we didn’t stay in the evenings so can’t comment on that. Hotel is in a good location with the beach a 5 minute walk, and 15-20 min walk into town with lots of shops and restaurant or €7 in a taxi. Couple of areas of improvement for me: We had a family room (3a, 1c) but in reality this is a standard room with 2 extra beds resulting in the room feeling tiny - I normally like to sit on the balcony of an evening before going out to have a drink but this wasn’t possible as only 2 chairs and we had to store all our suitcases out there. If I was returning I would book 2 rooms. You are not allowed any floats, balls etc in the pool and the lifeguard is hot on this but also hot on stopping what seems like any type of fun - whistle is blown A LOT during the day! I do get why no floats as it can take up a lot of room but would be good to allocate a couple of hours a day where floats are allowed. Although majority of people are AI there is a lot of drinks you have to pay for inc premium and cocktails - there are AI cocktails but these were pre-made and not great - very reasonable prices to pay for cocktails though so we did that! Overall I would 100% come back here!

We stayed at the Abora Continental for 5 nights, arriving late on the Monday due to delays to our flight out from Gatwick.

We were warmly greeted by the reception team, check in was super quick and easy and we were informed of a 24hr refreshments area, which was perfect as we missed the evening buffet, and we're needing a snack and a drink before heading to our room.

As a family of 3, our room was just the right size and layout for us to use as a base. We dropped off our bags and went to explore the hotel.

We read reviews about the state of some of the corridors in parts of the building, and it's true, we were on the 7th floor and the ceiling showed signs of water damage, but to be honest, the rest of the hotel makes up for the cosmetic damage.

We opted for all inclusive, so headed straight for breakfast at around 8:30am. The doors to the main pool, entertainment and buffet restaurant doesn't open until 8am, so if you planned to head down for brekkie before 8am, you would have to wait.

The breakfast selection is what you would expect, and there was plenty of choice for every type of water. The restaurant team run a smooth and efficient operation, keeping tables clean and tidy and always polite to the guests.

Like with any hotel, the choice and position of sun loungers is always an important decision, and the pool staff are hot on making sure sun loungers are not 'reserved'.

The animation team were brilliant and a real highlight of the holiday. Lots of poolside and aqua activities throughout the day for everyone to participate in. Plus a real range of evening entertainment, a personal favourite being the A Team V Guest night.

The poolside bar opened at 11:00 and hot buffet food including churros, fruit, hot food was available from 11:30/12 onwards. If you want an ice cream, you do have to pay for these at the pool bar but there is always ice cream on offer at lunch and dinner in the buffet restaurant.

We used the Wellness Healthy Massage centre on our first day. I had a back massage, as I had woken with a crick in my neck. Mónica was great, very professional and very experienced and I thoroughly enjoyed my massage.

I also used the gym at the hotel. I'll be honest, if you hoping for a decent work out, you won't get it. But, who goes on holiday to work out 🤣.

On the day of check out, you need to be checked out by 12pm. We were still able to access all the facilities, inc. the buffet restaurant for lunch and poolside amenities. There is a shower area for guests to use, once you're done with the pool.

The hotel is within walking distance of a shopping area, chemist and restaurants (if you are self catering or fancy something different). We didn't visit the beach, opting for a poolside break, but from the view from our room balcony, it's close by and offers water sports activities.

For a 3 star hotel, it definitely met our expectations and exceeded them in some areas. We would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here for 10nights with my husband & we had an amazing time. The staff were very friendly,our room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels were also left. The food choice was fantastic and to a very high standard,definitely something for everyone. The pools were 10/10. It was a 25 minute transfer from airport .It’s a 5 minute walk to beach which absolutely lovely. Plenty of shops and bars/restaurants. The night time entertainment wasn’t for me and my husband so we went out on a night to the bars which were a 5/10minute walk too. Absolutely loved mulligans Irish bar they had live entertainment each night and bar staff are really friendly.highly recommend this holiday and can’t wait to return to this hotel 👌
