This was our 3rd stay at this hotel in the last couple of years, and just like the last 2 times, we were very happy and would gladly return.
One thing that stood out to us was little bits of attention to detail. My now husband contacted the hotel before we arrived to inform them that it was our honeymoon and upon arrival, there was a bottle of fizz and some chocolates in the room for us with a card, which we loved. They did this again halfway through the stay for my husband's birthday.
The hotel is in a very good location, about a 40 minute transfer from the airport. There's plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, with the hotel also being a 10 min walk from the Irish Quarter and a 15 minute walk from the Yumbo Centre. You don't have to walk that far for anything though, with a good sized supermarket plus plenty of bars and restaurants just a couple of doors down the street. You're a bit of a trek down a pretty steep hill to the beach, but there's a free shuttle bus from the hotel, or you can easily grab a taxi outside the hotel and it only costs a few euros. There are also bus stops down the street with regular buses to the rest of the island. For the location as well, you would expect a lot of noise due to being on some main roads but the rooms are particularly well sound proofed if you've got your balcony door closed.
The standard rooms are a little bit on the smaller side but we have never minded this, plus they come with the majority of things you would need. The only things you don't get in your standard rooms are a kettle and a fridge but I think you do get these in the premium rooms. And the air-con works really well which is a good break from the heat.
The restaurant is what you would expect from an all inclusive buffet. There is plenty of choice, especially at breakfast with something for everyone. There's a lot of the same things at lunch and dinner but they do rotate menu items through the week so there is always at least a few different things, plus plenty of safe foods for even the fussiest of eaters. There is also a snack bar through the day which serves a late breakfast as well as your normal hot snacks through the afternoon. Also, if you arrive on your first night after dinner has finished, they do provide a cold buffet, which was much appreciated after the long travel day.
For an all inclusive, the bar itself is pretty decent, with plenty of drinks options plus self service machines for juices, hot drinks and wine. There is an all inclusive plus option with branded drinks and premium cocktails but we never used this, there was plenty of options on the standard all inclusive for us.
The hotel is always kept to a high standard of cleanliness. The public areas are getting tidied regularly throughout the day, with staff clearing tables at the bars and restaurants all the time. Plus bedrooms are cleaned daily and towels restocked daily.
The staff are what make this hotel, they are always really friendly and polite. A particular shout out to the animation team, Betty, Marcos, Alba and Patricia who run a full schedule of entertainment from 10am right through til around midnight and are always full of energy and provide a lot of fun for the guests.
The hotel works brilliantly, both as a hotel to relax and as a base to explore what Playa Del Ingles and the rest of Gran Canaria has to offer. We will definitely be back in the future.
Good location Good food and drink Clean rooms Staff very pleasant My only complaint was that there are not enough accessible toilets near pool as all toilets were down stairs The one accessible toilet was near the bar and able people used it While I was there the door catch was not closing properly Also there were no chairs at poolside for folks who cannot use loungers Have visited Waikiki 3 times but unfortunately will return only when the accessible toilet situation is sorted
A nice hotel our room was very nice and it was cleaned every day. The food was also very good, you had a good choice every day. The swimming pool was fine overall we had a very nice time at a very nice hotel. But this hotel do cater more for the Germans than for the Brits. Would I go back the answer is no I think if you are British you could find a better hotel and leave this one for the Germans.
Brilliant location (for bars clubs shops) Hotel was lovely and rooms really spacious and cleaned to the highest standard. Staff were nice and helpful especially the animation team. Food was fantastic. Entertainment was good day and evening. Adult only section was lovely and peaceful with a great snack bar ( open to everyone all inclusive) Will definitely book again
