The hotel is situated about 4 km outside of the tourist centre of Puerto Rico and only 200 m from the nearest sandy beach. A bus station is only 150 m away. This air-conditioned hotel is spread over 5 floors and comprises a total of 197 rooms, including 64 suites and 4 wheelchair accessible rooms. A little disappointed this time …….
Having been to the Gloria Palace Royal 25 times since 2010 and thoroughly love this hotel, it pains me to say that on this occasion we were a little disappointed with our stay. The rooms as usual were immaculate and were given room 1503 which was on the top floor in block 1 which is what we requested. There was Cava and fresh fruit on arrival and for my birthday a bottle of Cava and a chocolate cake, these are the little things which make me come here for my birthday. We stayed BnB but did have 3 days all inclusive to break up the 17 night holiday, food was varied with lots of choice, on the 2nd night I didn’t like what was on offer in the restaurant so the manager arranged some steak for me which was appreciated. All the staff in the hotel are always friendly and extremely helpful. However, the upstairs pool is absolutely filthy, not once in 17 days did we see it being cleaned as part of a regular cleaning schedule, this is probably because you can not get any staff out of the downstairs pool as this was spotless and obviously the hotels pride and joy. There was green algae around the edge, plasters in there the whole time we were there and grit and dirt on the bottom. The pool did get a quick flick over after many guests did complain to reception. We also witnessed some questionable behaviour from some young couples on the sunbeds which did make my wife feel uncomfortable. Reserving of sunbeds does also need to be looked at, usually the pool guy will come every couple of days and whip off the towels if beds are unaccompanied before 9am, during this stay I heard it only happened once, and this lead to an 80year man being verbally abused by a gentleman who I understand was sneaking in his son, who was staying at another hotel, so he could eat and drink all inclusive on his card !!! However, will this stop me coming back … probably not … although this time I felt the hotel had gone down hill a bit, but the view and the staff will still win me over.

Poor experience
I have just come back from a 8 night stay as a solo female the hotel was a nice and clean itself the breakfast was lovely but the other meals were terrible. The day entertainment was brilliant but the night entertainment not so good most if the staff were friendly but I think they favored certain guests I asked if I could extend my. Check out as I had a late flight the reception were very regulated to let me but did eventually also as a solo travel it was hard at meal times I left two bags on my table and chairs when I returned to the table a German were sat there and did care my bags were there not happy I will not return to this hotel and will not recommend to family or friends

Location good but hilly to walk up from beach. Rooms were good. Atmosphere was good. Patrick the day time entertainer was excellent kept you laughing. But expensive for the 12 nights.
8 nights half board should mean 8 hot meals provided.
Nice hotel, however, when a quest pays for 8 nights half board, you should provide them with 8 breakfast and 8 meals. I checked in late last Friday for 8 nights. There was cold food, cheese and meat provided to guest checking in late. When I spoke to reception to ask if we could have lunch in the last day ( this would be classed as the eighth meal, I was told no as the cold food on late checking was the first meal! Very poor, I am vegetarian and I certainly wouldn’t class two pieces of cheese and a bread roll dinner. This is my second stay and think it’s very poor, you should be providing 8 hot meals. Stay at other hotels with the same late checking in and they automatically change dinner to lunch in last day. Was looking to book for Christmas but will now look elsewhere
Amazing hotel, amazing Patryk!
I previously stayed at Gloria San Augustin and enjoyed it so thought I would book here as it was in a different area.
Such a lovely welcome from the reception team and a complimentary glass of bubbly!
I requested a room near the pool and restaurant which was granted. The room was cleaned every day and was very spacious. The views are breath taking if you are lucky enough to get one facing the sea.
The food was delicious, there was always something to eat. The waiters and waitresses were friendly and attentive.
Patryk was such a highlight to the stay! Although we never participated in any of the hotel activities, Patryk's energy was so welcoming and powerful it felt like you were still part of it. He even celebrated his 33rd birthday with the hotel which was so wholesome!
The team at the pool bar were awesome, they started to remember our drink order after a short while!
Sadly my fiance had an accident on the beach and we ended up at a hospital. The reception team was so helpful. They told me the best options to get him seen and to not incur any charges at the hospital. They even let us borrow a pair of crutches for the rest of the stay.
I would love to come back here for another stay, I felt so welcomed and safe here. Thank you so much for making our stay so amazing.
