Barcelo Teguise Beach

Just returned from a fantastic stay at Barcelo Teguise Adults only. My wife and I had a short stay there 2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. We wanted to return with our daughters when they were both old enough and decided this would be where we went to celebrate my birthday this year. We were not disappointed!!

Check in was smooth, we were offered a drink on arrival and were made to feel very welcome. Our rooms were brilliant and serviced excellently each day. There are lots of sunbeds for guests, the pool is lovely and the restaurant is very nice. The quality of the food was exceptional with so much choice each night. The restaurant manager goes out of his way to welcome you.

Feedback for the hotel would be to mix up the oriental section a bit as it rotates between a bbq dish and a cantonese one. Both very nice but just a bit more variety there would be great. Also, there isn't quite enough daytime activities running. The person hosting the activities was brilliant and always got a great number of people involved but there just wasn't enough. Pool volleyball was so popular but only took place twice throughout the week. Some days there are no activities at all. 2 years ago we had a DJ poolside playing chill out Ibiza tracks at a really low level to provide some great back ground music. We missed this this year!

The above is merely feedback to the hotel otherwise this is a hotel is absolutely brillisnt, as are all the staff. As an independent travel agent I highly recommend this hotel

Barceló Teguise Beach – Honest Review

We recently stayed at the Barceló Teguise Beach and, while there were some positives, unfortunately we felt it fell short of what we would expect from a 4-star hotel.

The biggest issue for us was the sunbeds. Every morning, we would come out around 9am for breakfast and already find the majority of beds taken, despite many of them having nobody on them. Some beds would remain “reserved” for hours, and it was often the same people in the same spots every day as if they just slept out there all night! We would have had to get up at 6am to get 2 sun beds together. This made it really difficult to enjoy the pool area, and we feel the hotel should have a much stricter policy on reserving beds considering there are signs around saying towels would be removed if no one was on the sun beds. This was a surprise for it being an adult only hotel , i expect that kind of behaviour from families and young kids……

We also found cleanliness to be inconsistent. At meal times, there were regularly dirty plates in the area you would get clean ones to get your food, which wasn’t particularly appealing. Our room also wasn’t cleaned to the standard we expected, with areas being missed during housekeeping every day. We also had issues with bugs in the room around the sink area, which was unpleasant and not what we would expect from a hotel of this standard.

Unfortunately, we weren’t overly impressed with the food either. There was a reasonable selection, but the quality wasn’t what we’d expect from a 4-star hotel, and we found the meals quite disappointing at times. The restaurant area is really big but purely just for seating; the actual food area was very small for the amount of guests they have in the hotel.

On the positive side, the staff at the reception were lovely as well as the poolside entertainment staff. They were friendly, polite and helpful throughout our stay, but certain members of staff at the pool bar were questionable.

Overall, we enjoyed certain parts of our stay, but based on our experience, we wouldn’t personally rate the hotel as a 4-star standard. There are some simple things, particularly around the sunbeds, cleanliness and food quality, that could make a big difference to the guest experience.

Found ourselves looking for accommodation due to a self catering venue having a significant issue, saw this hotel on a booking site and walked down to take a look.

Dominic on reception was incredibly helpful and explained there was only one available room which we booked for 6 nights. I’m so glad we did.

The hotel itself is clean and modern and the pool area is fantastic, sheltered from the wind and very well looked after. Our room although difficult to find at first was absolutely beautiful, enormous bed, mini fridge, jacuzzi on the balcony and key sparkling every day by the maid service.

The buffet restaurant has something for everyone at breakfast and dinner and the service is attentive without being too much. Special mention to Boris for his friendly nature and professionalism, really helped to make you feel on holiday.

We stayed on a half board basis and the drinks we bought were proper strength and reasonably priced. Service was always available and the staff throughout the hotel were fantastic. In fact we moved for a further 4 nights that we’d rebooked in a five star hotel in Puerto Calero and overall Barcelo Teguise Beach beat them on service standards and consistency. Based on this impromptu stay I would definitely highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

In order to instill a little balance if I had one criticism it would be that there is no policing of the no reserving sunbeds policy which is par for the course but does get a bit irritating.

Tip - book a Balinese bed for £35 including cava and have a lie in.
